Style ME Fall Fashion Wednesday

Well, now that Wednesday is almost over, I finally sitting down long enough to post my first fall outfits of this brand new Fall Style Me Challenge. We received our first outfit on Sunday night and right away I knew this was going to be my favorite challenge yet. The essential pieces on the shopping list are timeless classics with a bit of trendiness thrown in. I am thrilled to be doing this challenge with some of my favorite gals in all the world…my daughters Brennyn and Lauren, my sister Valerie, my sister-in-laws Metra and Greta and my first boyfriend’s wife and my friend Lonna.

I am still waiting for a couple of items from the shopping list that I ordered online. Apparently there is a terrible drought in El Paso for pretty plaid scarves. I couldn’t find anything that was truly plaid so wound up ordering two online. I ordered both scarves through Etsy, one scarf through a store called LolitaStas and the my other from a store called PeddlingPanda.

Once we get our shopping list but before the challenge actually begins, we fashionistas start by shopping our closets. We are encouraged to pour over the clothes we already have to see which pieces from the list might already by hanging in our closet somewhere. And for this challenge, I was pleasantly surprised to find I DID have many of the items already. Yipppeee!! I gathered up those pieces and laid them out on the bed in my spare bedroom. Then I printed off the shopping list and checked off those items that I wouldn’t need to shop for. With list in hand, and coordination notes highlighted, I headed to the stores to find the items I was missing. Once we have everything pretty well pulled together, we take our capsule pictures and post them to the challenge Facebook page. It really helps to see your colors and textures and patterns in those capsule pictures. Here are my capsules.

Today I did my last bit of shopping for a pair of brown boots. My daughter Brennyn was also looking for brown boots so we agreed to head to DSW together to see what we could find. Brennyn went to her DSW in Plano and I went to my DSW in El Paso and we talked on the phone as we shopped. We sent pictures to each other of the boots we were trying and both ran around our individual stores trying to find the boots the other of us was modeling. It was FUN! Here are pictures of the boots we bought. And actually, Brennyn bought a great pair of booties, too.

I didn’t have the plaid scarf and brown boots for Day 2 so will save that for another time once my scarves arrive. Finally, I leave you with this crazy picture my daughter Brennyn posted on the challenge Facebook page. It is a picture of a sweater she saw at Old Navy yesterday. We all had such a good laugh as we puzzled over how in the world this sweater works. I begged Brennyn to try it on to no avail. Maybe this weekend I will see if we have this same mystery item in our Old Navy store. If I find it, I will try it on just for a good chuckle.

      I haven’t looked for that crazy ON sweater but will keep an eye peeled for it when I hit the stores later this week. It seems like this month has been soooo long. Waiting until another payday rolls around is like an eternity. We have truly enjoyed the challenges in our family. So glad to connect with you and other new friends.
