Fashionistas and friends, I am back in the wildflowers again with this Poppy Edition of My Fashion Haus 04.2020. If you are about fed up with posts about and picture of poppies, you’ll be glad to know they have about faded for the year. But while they were still blooming in abundance, I took full advantage. Opened my fashion haus right there in the middle of all that yellow.

Spring Capsule Wardrobe Day 3
You guys know how much I love Alison Lumbatis and her capsule wardrobes. This spring’s capsule had a lot of staples with a few fun pieces and trending surprises. For one of my poppy encounters I chose to wear Day 3’s daily outfit. The formula for which was colorful cardigan + striped top + dark wash jeans + leopard shoes.
I don’t always follow the outfit equations to a T. But the top half of this look is pretty much on pointe. Boatneck Merona striped tee (similar, similar), Merona boyfriend cardigan (similar, similar) and distressed, super skinny Old Navy high waist Rockstar jeans (similar, similar).
Decided against wearing my leopard shoes because they are heels. Thinking it might be time to invest in a pair of leopard flats (I had some but wore them out!) or leopard sneaks. But for this day, I opted to go with my super comf navy Skechers (similar, similar).
Added some black stone clip-on earrings that belonged to Mom and black and yellow beads.
Was afraid these black stripes and the yellow cardigan might read ‘bumblebee’ but I don’t think it did.
Poppy Edition Photo Shoot
I had so much fun hanging out in the poppies for this post. PC was very supportive and took lots of pictures and even suggested different shots.
This was the last day before the stay at home restrictions were implemented.
There were so many folks wandering about the foothills in the flowers. I am really surprised we didn’t accidentally catch some of them in the background of our photos.
The poppies have faded in the last week. But I am glad that they were so beautiful this year. Grateful we all had an opportunity to enjoy them before we went into lock down.
Our stay at home order has been extended until 05.17.2020. More than a month longer. I was able to sneak a peek at my grands yesterday for just a few minutes while they were outside in their backyard. But I am desperate to hug them and hold them! Cami is changing so fast. We have been apart a third of her life. Waaaa!
Your Turn
With the interference of Covid-19 to the rhythm of our lives, I really haven’t had much occasion to get dressed in the last 2 weeks. We are riding bikes, running, working out at different times each day, so I tend to dress in active wear after my morning shower. Bought some pretty pieces for spring but just feel silly sitting around home in a dress or skirt. But I do want to start doing a little better than I have been.
Alison from Get Your Pretty On has created 5 free formulas for spring outfits. I just received them in my email box and you can, too. Just click here to register for them. Several pieces featured in this free downloadable PDF are also part of the spring capsule wardrobe. So check it out.
Hope you are hanging in there during this difficult time. Are you getting dressed each day or taking the lazy approach like I am? Maybe we can hold each other’s hand and encourage each other to get dressed a little more in the coming days. What do you say?
Thank you for coming by for this Poppy Edition of my fashion haus. Please stay home, and stay well.
Hugs and kisses,
Nancy
What a gorgeous poppy outfit photos! Nature is so beautiful in spring!
Kellyann Rohr
You look great Lesley and so do the poppies! Your PC took some great shots and you chose the perfect outfit for that beautiful backdrop. So I say get out your new clothes and dress up at home – you are a beautiful woman, why not enjoy what you have?
These stay at home orders, I cannot wait till this all comes to an end and I know it will!
xo,
Kellyann

Thank you for this advice. This week I have dressed up here at home. Might not stay that way all day but baby steps, right? Thank you for your sweet words! XO
Deb
Those poppies complement your outfit perfectly! What a lovely outfit you chose for your photoshoot.
I have days when I think ‘I really don’t want to wear jeans again today’ but it’s funny how it doesn’t come naturally to dress up when you aren’t leaving the house except to go on a dog walk (and she doesn’t care what I look like so long as I have comfortable shoes that mean we can walk for longer!)
We did have a virtual glass of wine with friends Saturday evening, and I did make the effort to put on a dress then, even though you could only see down to my waist on the video call! I could have been in my pjs and they wouldn’t have known!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I think you wear dresses more often than I do. Right now jeans are ‘dressed up’ for me! Terrible state of affairs over here. Glad you enjoyed a virtual glass of wine with your friends. We are such introverts that we don’t really have friends. We have kids and that’s about it. Maybe we could have virtual dinner with the kids one night!
Joanne
I definitely don’t think the outfit read as “bumblebee” it’s super cute and I love that pop of bright color.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! I really did stop and wonder if I should be buzzzzzzing in this yellow striped outfit!!
Retirement Reflections
Beautiful! These shots are absolutely gorgeous!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Aww, Donna, thank you. I miss the poppies already. Drove by the fields and foothills where they were so lush last month. Now they are gone.
Juhli
So hard to be apart from our grandchildren isn’t it! PC took some great photos of you and I really love the one you put at the top of the post! I’m finding that getting dressed better is happening on the days I wake up fairly cheerful. Need to get back to doing it every day as when I don’t make the effort my mood doesn’t get any better. Good for you for exercising every day and you are looking fit and trim.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Juhli. I hadn’t equated getting dressed with having a better mood. But I bet there’s something to that. My days go better when I can have my quiet time before the phone starts ringing or the stock market opens or I turn on the news. We are not exercising as much as we do when life is normal. Started back on Weight Watchers this week, so that’s a step in the right direction, I guess. Thank you, sweet friend.
Laurie
I would never get tired of looking at those poppy photos! They are so pretty and we don’t have anything like them here in PA. It is so nice that you have your mom’s earrings. They are so pretty and what a good way to remember her!
Our state has a stay at home order, but we are allowed to go out to the grocery store or go for a run or a hike. I miss my grands too! Our order is set to expire April 30, but I’m sure it will be extended.
This too shall pass!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for the compliments. I keep saying this too shall pass. Just wish it would come on!! The poppies are all gone now. And we can no longer wander in the fields where they were growing a month ago. Hoping we can soon at least enjoy hiking and being out in nature again.
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
Beautiful! You couldn’t have worn anything more perfect!! I love the stripes and the beautiful golden yellow of that card! I am trying to get dressed a few days a week with my hair done and makeup, too… and one of those days is my outfit photo day, so I don’t have a choice! Lol!

You are so kind. Thank you for this sweet comment. Make up these days for me is mascara, oh, and brushing my hair!!
Jennifer Smith
You look lovely – what a fun afternoon spent among the poppies! So nice that you were able to get that afternoon in:) I love your cardigan. The color screams spring!! And I love anything that says spring nice and loud!!:)
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet friend. I wanted to roll around in the poppies, inhale them, tuck them into my heart for the days following my afternoon enjoying them.

You are just always so beautiful – just alone with your smile!
Love all that yellow. I’m all about yellow with any other color – so bright & uplifting
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You are so kind. Thank you for the much needed compliment on my smile. That warmed my heart.
Dara
I have a yellow cardi like that – might have to wear it today!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Isn’t that yellow cardi like sunshine?
Liz Klebba
I get dressed every day! But I don’t suppose that’s a surprise… I just feel better about myself when I get dressed in “real clothes” and “real shoes.” You only find me in jammies (or sweats) all day if I am too sick to get dressed. And fortunately that’s rare. Extremely rare. Love the stripes; stripes and polka dots are my favorite patterns! I, too, am jones-ing for grandbaby snuggles. Keeping you and yours in my prayers!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Good for you, to get dressed in real clothes. I need to do better and have, this week! Now to keep it up. I will try to follow your good lead.
I Facetime with my grands but that doesn’t repress my need to kiss their chubby cheeks and feet! Grandbaby snuggles are the best, aren’t they?
Jill
Yellow is such a happy color! I love your cardigan and this outfit! Your photos are beautiful with the poppies in the background!

Thank you, doll!! I have never felt comfy in yellow until the last couple of years. Wearing it is an instant mood enhancer!
jodie filogomo
This is such a joyful outfit Leslie. I do think you need a pair of leopard sneakers or flats…they work with so many outfits!!

PS…Just call me an enabler. I figure if I’m online shopping so much right now, everyone should be…haha
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I love your enabling self!! Leopard sneakers on the way.
Gail
Wow – stunning yellow poppies! How beautiful against the blue sky. Your yellow cardigan is the perfect partner. A ray of sunshine in these troubled times. Thanks for sharing your fashion haus at #WowOnWednesday!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Gail. I loved the poppies for just that reason. They were really uplifting just as we went into quarantine.
Amy Johnson
You look gorgeous in yellow. And I love that field of poppies. You don’t see anything like that in Wisconsin.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Aww, thank you!! I have never ever worn yellow. Just beginning to discover that I don’t look quite as seasick in it as I once believed.
jess jannenga
Hi Leslie!
What a perfect yellow cardigan to wear in these poppy fields. So pretty! The stripes are a lovely touch and I am a big fan of the Rockstar jeans too! We really appreciate Nature in these times too!
take care,

Sweet Jess, thank you for coming by! My camo skirt arrived today…purchased after positively drooling over your camo skirt and floral blouse outfit.
I miss tip-toeing through our poppies. They never last long and have faded now. But with the restrictions in place, we wouldn’t be allowed to meander among
them now. Anxious for life to return to normal.
April
Ours in Maryland got extended to at least May 15, and masks are required now. Such a strange time to be alive. I’m just now starting to get antsy…
The poppies are beautiful, and the outfit is too. Love the yellow!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet friend. The poppies were truly the perfect celebration before we went into Covid-19 lock down. Lock up? Hope you are staying healthy.
Bri
ADORABLE! That’s how you look! The whole outfit is just so cute on you, and I love that yellow/mustard color!!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Aww, thank you, sweet friend.
Mica
I’ve never seen yellow poppies before, they are beautiful and I love your matching outfit! the necklace and cardigan are great accessories with the stripes, and this is my kind of outfit when the weather is cold enough to get my cardigans out! 🙂
Hope that you had a nice weekend 🙂 Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! A new link up is live on my blog now, I’d love you to join again.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for your sweet words. I enjoyed joining you for your link up and will gladly do so again. I always have such a hard time remembering that you guys are heading into fall and winter. Will be anxious to see your stay warm and snuggly clothes.
Shugunna Alexander
You look so happy and pretty out in the poppies! I’ve been sporting my workout clothing a lot, not working out to much, but very comfortable. I miss hugging my son as well, he came in yard last week and everything in me just wanted to reach out and grab him, so I do understand. Please, continue to stay safe and take care of yourself!!
