Girlsies, it’s the first Wednesday of the month so I’m linking up with Anne in Residence for Currently 09.2020. In this month’s edition we’re talking about what we’re anticipating, appreciating, collecting, starting, and finishing. Some months I really struggle with the currently prompts but this month was easy peasy. Have a look.

Anticipating…
the arrival of fall!! It’s crazy how our afternoon high temperatures have dropped about 15* from last week to this. I know it’s too early and we are bound to heat up again. But for this week, it is beginning to feel like fall. And this season brings the best clothes. Chunky knit sweaters. Cozy jackets. Plaids and tweeds. Boots and booties.
Then there are the colors. Have you seen Pantone’s color palette for autumn/winter 2020-2021?
[source]
Don’t they ‘read’ fall, in all it’s glory? Which color do you look most look forward to wearing?
And speaking of fall clothes (nifty segue, huh?), registration for the 2020 fall Get Your Pretty On capsule wardrobe opens on Friday, 09.04.2020. While I love participating in all of these wardrobe challenges, fall is my very favorite. It’s looking like the world is beginning to wake up after our long Covid-induced nap. Why not give your autumn wardrobe a refresher to celebrate? After all, empty-nesters, mid-lifers, retirees and grandmothers can be fashion mavens, too!! Invitation: Join the Style Challenge with me! Appreciating…
the folks at my mom’s assisted living community, Cedarhurst at Beaumont, for enabling my sister and I to have such a good visit with Mom.
It was so hard, though, not to be able to touch her, hug her. Especially when we had to say goodbye.
Collecting…
white tees for an upcoming blog post. Have been doing a little online research on the best white tee shirts. Going to style some of the top recommendations and review them right here in the next few days. Hope you will pop in for that post.
Finishing…
mosaics. Mentioned them in last month’s currently post, too. Lauren and I have been working on our cactus mosaics. Like turtles. 🐢 🐢 🐢 We are keeping in mind that old adage that slowly but surely wins the race. Lauren is on vacation this week so I hope we can finish these up tomorrow or Friday. Will be putting away my cactus-themed summer decorations soon in order to break out FALL!! Need to get this mosaic completed so I can pack it away with my other cactus stuff. Won’t even have much time to enjoy it. That’s what I get for being soooo sloooow.
My new friend and mosaic artist Terry gave me some suggestions on finishing the mosaic I began shortly after I retired waaaaay back in 2013. Now to follow through with them. If I’ve worked like a turtle 🐢🐢🐢 on my cactus mosaic, I’ve been an absolute slug on this one 🐌🐌🐌.
Starting…
my autumn bucket list. Sure would be nice if Covid would go away so we can really enjoy all our favorite fall activities. In looking back over last year’s list, there are a number of items that would be impossible or look a whole lot different this year. Going to have to get creative for sure!! Hey, I have an idea…why don’t you join me for this, too?? The big autumn bucket list reveal will be on Monday, 09.21.2020. Plenty of time to get your list of fun activities put together. No excuses!!

How would you respond to the Currently 09.2020 prompts? What are you anticipating, appreciating, collecting, finishing and starting? Please share in a comment below. Then be sure to stop by Anne’s to check out her responses. And start thinking about next month’s prompts: admiring, going, making, scheduling, and wishing.
Going to try a new pork chop recipe today. If it is a winner, will share it here in the near future. I discovered 3 packages of pork chops in the freezer so figured we better get to eating them. Do you have a go-to pork chop recipe?
Thank you for spending a few minutes of your day here with me. I am off for a walk. Hope you find time to do something for yourself today, too.
Hugs and kisses,

I’m glad you were able to have a nice visit with your mom, even if things were different.
I’m sooo ready for Fall and Halloween. Favorite time of the year for me! I’ve been thinking of my bucket list for the season too. I know some of the things I normally put are items I can still do, but others will be different for sure.

I don’t have a single cloth mask! So far we’ve been using the disposable ones for our weekly grocery and monthly hair appointments. I did buy Alec some cloth ones for school and he tells me they are more comfortable and breathable so I’ll have to start looking around. Do you have any favorites?
Leslie Roberts Clingan
My daughter bought some very soft cotton masks for everyone at the beginning of this craziness. For the girls she bought pink/white. One side pink and the other white. For the guys she bought black. Something like these: https://www.amazon.com/Fashion-Protective-Washable-Reusable-Covering/dp/B089R31T4K/ref=sr_1_13crid=3AERTRYVJ7T03&dchild=1&keywords=black+cloth+face+masks&qid=1600051100&sprefix=black+cloth+face+masks%2Caps%2C212&sr=8-13
They wash well and we hang them in the sun to dry.
Dara
I got a lot of masks and sadly keep seeing cuter ones I should have gotten instead!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha!! The first masks were just whatever, huh? Whatever we could grab. But now they have become almost a fashion statement. Who knew??

So glad you were able to visit with your mom!! How special! Great photos:) I need to get to work on a bucket list (of sorts) for fall. I’ve put away/stopped planning much of anything – but I’m ready to start planning and looking forward to things again. Even if they are Covid-styel:) Can’t wait to read about the white tees….a staple in my life!! Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Come join me with a fall bucket list!! Would love to see what you plan, even if there are activities around this virus.
Leanne | www.crestingthehill.com.au
Hi Leslie – wow all those masks you own! I’ve just ordered some online in case we have a resurgence of covid and have to start wearing them – better to be prepared rather than caught short.
Good luck with the mosaic-ing. I did some stained glass several years ago and loved it (but it’s an expensive hobby!) I’ve thought about having a go at mosaics but haven’t found a good (cheap) class anywhere local. It’s still on my “one day” list.
Loved the Pantone Autumn colours – I should have a look at what they’re saying Spring colours are – seeing in Australia we’re heading in that direction. Lovely catching up on your news. x
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Leanne, come do a spring bucket list with me. I am releasing my fall bucket list on 09.21. You could share a list of spring activities that would inspire our pals in the southern hemisphere.
I have always wanted to try stained glass. The mosaic-ing has been slow going. I added the background color to my cactus mosaic and it looks dreadful. Now what?
Iris
I love fall – it’s definitely my favorite time of the year and the fall colors are my favorites.

Ditto!!

The Pantone fall colors are so gorgeous! I did the Get Your Pretty On challenge a few years ago and it was so helpful to spark my creativity! I know it must have been so hard to leave your mom but I’m glad you had a wonderful visit! Finding the best white tee is such a feat and I can’t wait for your post!

Have all my white tees ironed…now to try them on!!
Aren’t the Pantone colors pretty? I want something in every shade.
Kellyann Rohr
Your mom is one strong lady, just keeps chugging along – love it! So nice y’all were able to visit but yeah, hard to not be able to hug to say goodbye.
If I had to respond to any prompts about what my life is like currently I’d say…work. Having to explain to parents why they have not been assigned a teacher yet on our virtual school, how homeschooling works, etc. I am DONE! Can’t wait for this to pass!
xo,
Kellyann
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Kellyann, I feel for you, my sister, my friends who are struggling right alongside the babies and their parents with this virtual schooling business. I worry so about my 10-year-old granddaughter. She is missing out, I am pretty certain. Cady has had some learning struggles under the best of circumstances and this online learning has not been optimal for her. In the spring, I was trying to help her with school work while we Facetimed. Her screen would go black for a second and I couldn’t see or hear her. When I asked what she was doing when that happened, she fessed up. She was asking Alexa to do her math for her. Ugh.
Anne Hoekman
I like the attitude – all we can do is just be creative with our lives and things like fall bucket lists right now. Not what we want, but in the end a summer of having to take a creative approach did make a bunch of memories that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Curious how you are liking that book – I have wondered about adding it to my list!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hoping that more of our world will open up this fall so we can enjoy the pumpkin patch and trick or treat.
Laura Bambrick
I love all of your cactus themed decorations! How cute and appropriate for your location! I love fall fashion too and am looking forward to another season-hopefully this one we will be able to spend a bit fo time with other people!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Need to run by and check out your fall capsule. I can’t wait for temps to drop a bit more so we can wear fall clothes without melting.
Liz Klebba
I’m loving the Pantone colors, even if most of them don’t love me! They skew heavily warm this season. Oh, well. It just means more money saved to spend when my colors come around again! These thought prompts are fabulous! Some of them remind me of the questions in my Monk Manual pages… Let’s see. Anticipating: Cooler weather. We’ve had a tease of a few lovely mornings, and I’m breaking out a pair of boots once we get into the 70’s!
Appreciating: A bike ride this past weekend. I had a wreck about two weeks ago, and couldn’t even sit down on a chair, let along get back on my bike. Glad to be back in the saddle. Collecting: Pine cones for the bowl in the center of our dining room table. Just need to remember to check for ants before I bring them in! Finishing: A cleanout of retired summer clothes. Starting? A new bible study on Los Hechos de los Apostoles… I get time with Him AND language practice all rolled into one!
