Rediscovering Life after Retirement

Thankful Thursday 07.2020 & My WOTY

Thankful Thursday 07.2020 & My WOTY

Howdy, quarantine queens and mask wearing mamas, it’s time for Thankful Thursday 07.2020.  I am linking up with Rebecca Jo for her gratitude series, which she publishes every week.  While I certainly have many things for which to be grateful, I try to do a Thankful Thursday post on the last Thursday of the month.  Along with Sentence a Day and Currently posts, Thankful Thursdays give me a opportunity to reflect back over all that’s happened in the last few weeks.

Just a reminder:  Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After occasionally uses affiliate links. This means that if you click a link provided I may receive a very small commission. Thank you for your support!

THANKFUL THURSDAY 07.2020

Here are some of the things I have given thanks for in my “Good Days Start With Gratitude” journal.  Except I write in mine before going to sleep.  First thankful of the post…thankful for the shiny new gratitude journal I will begin using on the last day of this month.  It’s the Choose Gratitude:  Blessings Journal.

Part of me want to open it up right now to see what it’s like.  But another part of me says I have to wait until I start using it to check it out.  Which will win out?

This month I am grateful for:

My Word of the Year

I haven’t written much about my word of the year –believe – but it has gotten me through on the darkest days of this year so far.  Believing that in the end everything is going to be okay.  Everything is going to be okay once this Covid pandemic is beyond us.  And everything is going to okay with my mom.  With our country.

As a part of February’s Currently post, I talked about how I came to select believe as my word of the year.  In this Sentence a Day post, I mentioned how our church was doing a series on believing.  Coincidence?  I doubt it!  And God keeps sending little reminders to keep believing.  Like this one word billboard on the side of the road on our way down the mountain from Ruidoso.

Thankful Thursday 07.2020 & My WOTY

Can you see it?

The other day I was trying to take Lucia’s picture and she kept holding this little book over her face.  Then I realized what her tee shirt said.  Yup.  Believe.  As in believe my babies will stay healthy during this pandemic.  That they will stay well when they return to daycare.

Thankful Thursday 07.2020 & My WOTY

Came across this verse in my Bible study during the month.

Mark 5:36
Jesus paid no attention to what they said, but told him, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.”

Then discovered this page in my journaling Bible.  The verse was printed in my Bible and I added the embellishments, flowers and color.

Thankful Thursday 07.2020 & My WOTY

It’s heartwarming to discover these reminders of my WOTY and the message behind it.  Trying to remain positive knowing, believing that everything will be okay in the end.

Romans 8:28
We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose.

YOUR TURN

Even with our world still somewhat upside down, there is so much to be grateful for these days.  How would your Thankful Thursday 07.2020 post read?  Please let me know what you are most thankful for.

How are you holding up? Praying you and those you love are staying safe and healthy as our world begins to open up.  Please let me know in a comment below how things are in your world.

Thankful for your friendship.  And for choosing to spend a little of your day here with me.   Your messages and support mean so much.  Especially during these lonely stay at home days.

Hugs and kisses,

leslie

How interesting to see that little word ‘believe’ springing up to remind you that things will be ok. It is hard to imagine how long this chapter of our lives, living in this way, will last, but we need to believe that it will come to an end eventually and we will move on.
There are certainly many things to be grateful for and it was lovely to see a snippet of those in your post, especially those glorious grandchildren of yours!

How neat that the world Believe keeps popping up!! I think every day that we are still healthy and alive is a reason to start counting all our blessings. I have so many things to be thankful for this month as we have had a particularly fabulous one!

I love this post! So much goodness in one place. I really like the idea of the journal. I’m going to check out that link. And I love Dave Ramsey! He has such sound advice. We do cash spending when we can. During the pandemic, it’s been a little harder since we’re ordering mostly online, but we just sat down with our budget last week and came up with our new cash spending plan. I love a good plan! Anyway, congratulations on all this goodness. xoxo

Proud of you to have a new cash spending plan. My husband is a much better budgeter than I am. And apparently, so is my older daughter.
My younger daughter and I both have the ‘spend’ gene!!

Aw, I love the photos – and wonderful things to be thankful for!! I love that you mentioned the Reds; I know your PC is a fan, but it’s always funny to see things related to my Cincinnati. 🙂

We are so thankful to have some form of baseball back in our lives. Even if the Reds aren’t exactly knocking it out of the ball park. It’s still baseball. Thinking of you. Hope you got some good news at the specialist.

I need to write down more often what I’m thankful for… I think it would change my mood! 12 years of marriage to PC is a wonderful thing! 🙂 We have baseball back here, too… I love the fake fan noise! Lol!

We boo-ed about the fake fan noise until we heard it. Now I like it. And I like the cardboard fan cutouts. Wish they weren’t so expensive or I would get one for PC.
