Lovey-doves,
Where, oh where has this little month gone, girls? Where, oh, where can it be? This time 30 days ago I was in Kentucky and here I am back again. Hard to make progress on my bucket list when it includes date night activities with my PC and he’s there and I’m here. Or take a class when I’m not home to attend! All this to say, I don’t have a lot of progress to brag about. Let’s see where I am.
2019 Winter Bucket List, First Update
I am so confused…is this the winter of 2018 or the winter of 2019? Since winter began on 12.21.2018, seems like it should be the winter of 2018, huh? But then so much of the winter season is actually in 2019…January and February are both winter months. And even most of March, as spring doesn’t officially begin until 03.21.2019. So, I am going with winter 2019. Either way, I hope you know what I mean.
Here are the activities on my winter bucket list.
- Create a blogging schedule and follow it. I have begun. Sent an email out to all the gals about link-ups and series we are all hosting. Then penciled them all onto my Living Well Planner. Now to write blog posts and show up for each series.
- Have professional photos taken. Someday this is going to happen! Made an appointment to have photos taken early in January when Brennyn and Cady were here visiting, and Lauren, Francisco and Lucia were going to come down from Albuquerque. But the ABQ contention got sick. And Mustafa was unable to come with the girls from Ft. Worth, so we wound up canceling our photographer. Here is the tripod photo we took of all of us together in June. In the second copy of the photo, you can see who would have been missing if we had taken the photo as planned this month…those circled in red. Half the fam!
- Go on a backwards date. Need to be in the same town with PC to make this happen. But a lot of you (thank you) have mentioned being interested in this. I promise to share very soon. Maybe Valentine’s Day…in time to report back to you guys for the next update, 02.21.2019.
- Try the Total Body Enhancement red light therapy booth at the gym. Did this once. Not sure I noticed any huge improvement with one administration of this red light therapy. But will be trying it again.
- Read. More. Making good progress on my Goodreads reading goal of 33 books for 2019. Just finished Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. It was so good. Eleanor is quite the eccentric character, a lot like Don Tillman, who I fell in love with in The Rosie Project. Reading Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis right now and finishing It’s Never Too Late To Begin Again by Julia Cameron. Our book club is about to pick a new book to read. Won’t you join us? You can get in on the voting!
- Finish scrapbooking Germany photographs, work on mosaic, cross stitch elephant and painting. Well, no. Not yet. I do have my cross stitch up here to work on while I visit mom. Just need to get it out of the suitcase!
- Dress up when I go out anywhere. I have been doing this but in going back through recent photos, I have no proof to share with you! But will start taking more pics as testimony to that fact.
- Try 3 new recipes. Same old song and dance, have to be home to cook, to date, to go to the gym. Did make green enchilada chicken soup last week. Oh, it was good. And that was a new recipe but really want to get back on track with cooking.
- Lose the 5 pounds I found in Kentucky. Well, I am back in Kentucky and just praying I don’t find 5 more pounds while I am here.
- Take a course or class…photography, piano, painting, spinning? Guess where I need to be in order to accomplish this. And it’s not Kentucky!! Thinking I might try a spinning class while I am here. Used to love spinning and even became a certified spin instructor…and then LIFE happened.
Let’s see where that leaves me. Not quite at a big fat zero but not much better either. Let’s give me a 3 out of 10. At least I have begun working on 3 of the items on my list. I need to get my bootie back home and keep it there!
Your Turn
Are there any activities on your winter bucket list that you have signed, sealed and delivered on so far? Won’t you link-up your winter bucket list update post with us or leave me a comment on your progress below? Then come back 02.21.2019 and prepare to be astounded by amazing progress.
Last night the rain that welcomed me back to Kentucky turned into the most beautiful, silent snow. I was up several times in the night, snapping photos from the big bay windows of my mom’s old apartment. Never cease to be dazzled by those feathery flakes dancing from the sky. Was thankful we didn’t have to venture out in it today but tomorrow is another story. We will be off to the psychiatrist long before Lexington reaches the predicted high of 21*. Just praying the roads will be clear.
Stay safe and warm where you are. Thank you for curling up here to spend a few moments with me.
Family hugs,
Debs
I think you can be forgiven for not clearing that bucket list – life has certainly thrown you some curve balls this winter. And hey, Winter isn’t over yet, there’s still time to tick a couple more off!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey doll! Winter isn’t over yet and I am going to lick this winter bucket list yet! Thank you for cheering me on.
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
I used to make bucket lists and worry so much about clearing them, but I think you can always add some of these you miss to your Fall bucket list! 🙂 And, I’m sure the ones you REALLY want to do will be the ones you check off first… or, the easiest ones! Ha!! I can’t wait to hear about the backwards date. 🙂 I really want to try and get family photos when we go to Disney this summer if possible… on the boardwalk.

Fam photos at Disney would be wonderful! Bren wants all of us to go to Disney in May. Haven’t told PC yet. Ugh. It will be so expensive – thinking maybe he and I could go for just a day or two?? But we need a vacation/escape/holiday/romantic interlude just the two of us. Wish we could go to Disney then get on a cruise originating in Florida somewhere. Maybe I need to look into that!

Bucket lists can be flex…but you’ll never regret the time spent being the great daughter you’ve been to your mom.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you so much, my darling friend, Em. I am glad to have spent time with my mama. And she called me on Sunday – the first time in months!!! Life is good.
Gail
You have some really good reasons for not completing your list so far. No snow yet in London, but it’s a bit early for us – it usually only snows maybe once, and then very little, but it always brings the place to a standstill!
If you enjoyed Eleanor Oliphant you’ll also enjoy The Cactus by Sarah Haywood. This is another very singular character! I loved both.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Gail, for the book suggest. I will check out The Cactus. Have you read The Rosie Project? Another heart-warming, endearing, quirky character.
Dara
I would love to know what a backward date is for sure! Eleanor Oliphant is on my list of books to read soon. Good job on your list and don’t worry, winter isn’t over yet!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Backward date coming soon. Please read Eleanor Oliphant…come join our virtual book club.
Natalie
You’ve done well with your list, Leslie, and winter is still here for several more weeks. Stay warm and safe in Kentucky.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, doll. I am home and ready to take on that bucket list with renewed energy. Thank you for always cheering me on.
Christie Hawkes
Three out of 10 is nearly 1/3, so I’d say you are right on track Leslie! Also, I share your confusion with whether to call this winter of 2018 or 2019, so I dropped the year altogether. I hope things settle down for you in the coming months.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Aww, thanks, Christie, for making me feel better about my progress (or lack of) on my winter bucket list. I like the idea of dropping the year on the winter bucket list posts because who knows if it is winter 2018 or winter 2019. Great idea!!
Donna
Hi, Leslie – I believe that you have done well on your goals. You are keeping them right out in front of you which makes a huge difference. I am enjoying reading ‘Girl, Wash Your Face’ with you. I am off to begin Chapter 7 now.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Donna, you have been so fabulous with your reading and sharing your thoughts on “Girl”. Thank you for reading it with me. I need to get the book finished, if I can just stay awake at night.
Amber
I don’t know what your book club is into, but I just finished Last Christmas in Paris and really enjoyed it! I’ve got Eleanor Oliphant checked out right now, so I’m going to dive into it soon!
I’ll echo what the others have said. You’ve got a lot going on right now, and the fact that you’re still writing and attempting to accomplish these things is incredible. Be kind to yourself and give yourself grace. A lot of these things will be good on a Spring bucket list!
How do you like the planner? I’ve thought about it before, but I just can’t quit my Happy Planners!
Thanks for hosting this linkup!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
How did you like Eleanor Oliphant? Will check out Last Christmas in Paris and add it to Goodreads to-read. I like my planner from Ruth Soukup but it is pretty all encompassing. Time consuming! Ha!
Laura
Sometimes it’s hard to get those goals and bucket lists done, but it seems like you have a start on some of the things. I am so curious about that red light therapy booth!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I am enjoying the red light therapy. Might all be just the power of suggestion, but hey, I’ll take it! We don’t get enough sunshine in the winter and I think this is a good way to get benefits from something similar. While I am in the booth, music is playing and the panel I am standing on vibrates. Kind of fun. Maybe I should do a post about it? Ha!

Life has been busy for you, so take it easy on yourself. Your daughters are absolutely gorgeous. Try the spinning!! I want to do it but we don’t have classes at my gym.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I love spinning but need to find somewhere (CHEAP) to do it here in EP. Thank you for the compliments on my daughters. They get a lot of their unique features from their dad. I am so blessed.
ShootingStarsMag
I hope Kentucky is treating you well – it’s rainy where I am today. I think being out of town is a very good excuse not to have much checked off your lists, so it’s all good. LOL Unfortunately, Winter will last awhile. 😉 I checked off about 1 1/2 of my list, but I only have 5 items, so not a terrible start.

Here’s to both of us knocking those bucket lists outta da water!

You’ve had a tough winter so far, so don’t be too hard on yourself. Stay safe, stay warm & look after you…
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for this reminder to look after me. I am going to try to do a little pampering this weekend.
Jill Gruber
I feel like bucket lists are kind of like wish lists so anything you cross off you should feel good about! I can’t wait to hear about your backwards date! I used to love spin class! You should get back into it!

I am struggling to find somewhere to take spinning. Maybe it is no longer in ‘fashion’? Sure is great exercise. Do you ever spin these days?
