Hello readers…thanks for joining me for this month’s Where Bloggers Live 08.2021: Wash, Brush, Floss, Flush. Can you guess which room my Where Bloggers Live sisters are featuring in today’s edition? I’ll give you 2 guesses and the first guess doesn’t count!
Yup, the bathroom, the potty, the loo. The powder room. The toilet. The restroom. I think the smallest room in the house has the most names. And the maybe the hardest jobs. Today, lucky you, we are sharing our bathrooms with you!! Offering the nickel tour of our 3 bathrooms for this edition. What a bargain!! Grab your poo-pouri and your plunger and join me.
WHERE BLOGGERS LIVE
Again this month I am happy to report I have a few new readers!! Welcome to my world. And welcome back always to those of you who stop by regularly for a few minutes here with me. Just to review, Where Bloggers Live is kind of like HGTV’s “Celebrities at Home,” but…with bloggers!
Each month I am always happy to see that my Where Bloggers Live posts are among my most popular. Probably because we are all a little curious about other people’s homes and lives. I know you are dying to check out my bathrooms, right?? You can also read my last Where Bloggers Live post, here, if you missed it. We talked about books we love. Among my favorite blog posts to read are book reviews. So last month I was in pig heaven reading about my friends’ favorite books.
WHERE BLOGGERS LIVE 08.2021
This month’s theme is in a class all its own. We have looked at a lot of the rooms in our houses so I guess it’s logical we tour our powder rooms, right? I mean, why not. But to be perfectly honest, when Bettye’s reminder about this post appeared in my email inbox, I was goofing around on the computer. Procrastinating about writing this post. Thank goodness, I jumped up and got off my procrastinating bootie. Because we have not one, not two, but 3 bathrooms that I needed to tidy before photographing them for you. I could have kept the toilet lids down, I guess, but that seems like cheating. I pulled out all the stops for you.
Let’s do this thing!!

Power Room Number One
Let’s start this tour with the bathroom downstairs. This is the one we probably use most. Not as a bath-room. As a toilet. It is the guest bathroom, too, that kind of goes with our downstairs guest room. I shared it, the elephant room, in this Where Bloggers Live post in December. While the bathroom doesn’t have elephants, it does have the same color palette as the elephant room.
I like that all of our powder rooms have bathtubs and showers. I don’t like that the only lights in the 2 guest bathrooms are over the lavatory. Most people like to see not just when they are brushing their teeth but when they are showering, too.
Click the photos to see our bathrooms up close and personal!!
See all that stuff in the plastic bins under the lavatory? I could probably pitch a bunch of it. Had it on hand for when Lauren would come home for a visit. She has always used the best hair products and I just can’t bare to throw them away. Brennyn can’t visit more than about twice a year but they are here for her to use when she does come.
There’s also a bin of diapers and wipes for little Cami’s behind. Will refill it with newborn diapers soon in anticipation of our Christmas baby boy’s arrival.
Welcome Guests
In both of our guest bathrooms, I have put some baskets with toiletries our guests might need but forgot to pack. When I visited my BFF Sharon years ago at her beautiful home in Oklahoma, she had the sweetest basket of toiletries ready for my visit. It was so thoughtful!! I have tried to replicate her kindness in my home.
Master Bath Room
Conveniently, our master bathroom is just off of…yup, you guess it…our master bedroom. Nice how that works. Our bathroom is roomy. Has a garden tub that I thought I would use all the time but I feel guilty filling it up with all that water just so that I can use the jets. So, I only use the tub when I need to shave my legs really well. Our shower is so compact that I have to lift my legs onto the ledge of the glass to try to shave them. Not sure how much longer I’ll be able to keep that up so the bath tub might get more use in the near future.
I do kind of wish we had a door between the bedroom and the bathroom. Small thing. But it would be nice to close off the bathroom. Maybe those chic-ish barn doors everyone is using? Someday. Maybe.
All of the products under these lavatories are ours. I could probably pitch most of the things under my side. Not big on hair products, except those that promise to add volume. Our drawers are full of makeup that I only wear about 10% of, nail polish that I never ever take time to apply, cold remedies, allergy meds, a thermometer, nail clippers, tweezers and the like. Some exciting stuff.
Restroom Number Three
I think this bathroom is my favorite. The beach bathroom. Who doesn’t want to be swept away to the beach when they are taking care of business?
It goes with the beach guest room. Both are upstairs toward the front of the house. The bedroom has a little balcony that oversees the front yard and has a pretty swell view of the mountains. This room and bath were my step-son Matt’s before he moved to Iowa to be closer to his mom.
I guess the elephant bedroom reflects the love I have of animals. And the beach bedroom pays homage to my love of the sea. Bright, crazy colors in one. Soothing earth tones in the other. The beach bathroom is a carbon copy in layout of the elephant(-less) bathroom downstairs.
Most of the things under the lavatory in this bathroom are either leftover toiletries from Matt or generic types of things any guest might need during their stay. Sometimes I use this bathroom just to show it some love. And to pretend, for a moment, I am back at South Padre Island, or Cancun, Nice or Punta Cana.
Bonus – Beach Guest Room
When we featured our guest rooms in that post last year, I chose to share the elephant room. Probably because the beach room wasn’t fit for public consumption. It has been my spill over room for craft supplies, books, library lesson plan notebooks, and lesson plan materials. When I change out my seasonal decoration, it is the place where I unpack the things I am going to put out and pack up those I am taking down. The beach room is also my fashion haus. It’s where my skinny mirror hangs that I use for my occasional style posts. So it might be slightly familiar to some of you already.
A couple of times, PC and I have slept in one or the other guest bedroom for a change. Doing so can almost be like an overnight getaway minus the room service!! Looking forward to having Matt here for a visit in a couple of weeks. Then Brennyn and Cady in October for a long weekend. Good thing my spring-now-summer cleaning is finished in our guest rooms and bathrooms. Onto the kitchen this week!!
YOUR TURN
Grateful that this post came around just in time to kick my spring cleaning back in gear. I have never cleaned our bathrooms so quickly as I did yesterday before sitting down to write this post. Next week, I hope to pretty well finish up the spring cleaning…just under the wire before we move into fall. Something’s wrong with that picture!!
Please join me in visiting the blogs of my comadres. Can’t wait to see their privies.

Today is Friday the 13th. Are you superstitious? If so, in what ways? PC is off today and has an eye exam and then we have to get both of our cars inspected. Hope the stars align and they pass. We have a 70% chance of rain today and tomorrow. If the skies are any indication, that forecast is 100% accurate!!
Thank you for stopping by. Going to use this rainy weekend to catch up on blog reading and writing for next week. It appears that the library sub job won’t be materializing. So much for rebuilding my Christmas Club account.
Be safe out there today. Enjoy your weekend.
Hugs and kisses,
Iris
Enjoyed visiting all of your bathrooms. Love the colors you chose and they all look so organized and “put together”. Thanks for sharing.

Thank YOU for visiting!!
Juhli
You have made your guest baths so cute and perfectly matching the guest rooms!
Dust and Doghair
Your rooms are so pretty and welcoming! Love all the colors and how they each have their own identity!
They are also as tidy and organized as I imagined. (I wonder if next lifetime, I’ll come back as a tidy person. I appreciate tidy, just never seem to get there.)
I love how you have all your towels guest-ready and all the under-counter items are neat and handy. Your daughters must love staying with you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet friend. I meant to ask a question about guest towels. Are the towels on everyone’s towel rack to be used or just for decoration? Have a sad-funny story about towels on a guest room towel rack that I should share in a post.
rawsonjl
I love your master bathroom! You are such a wonderful hostess to have a whole basket of goodies on hand for your guests.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! I learned from the best hostess ever!!
Jodie
I love that you sleep in the guest room from time to time. We’ve done that too because it gives you an idea of how the guests experience it!!
I’m shocked you showed us under the cabinets Leslie….now that’s impressive.
I’m going to copy that guest basket idea….how nice is that?

LOL, you are so sweet. I didn’t even clean up under the lavatories. They are photographed as they were!! How ’bout that?? The toilets, not so much!!

Nice seeing a little peek into your house again Leslie – you’re much more “themed” than we are – our bedrooms and bathrooms all look pretty much the same. Loved your beach theme.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Nancy from the Netherlands said that they don’t usually have guest rooms or guest baths in their houses. It is interesting how houses are so different around the world. This house was the perfect size when we bought it but it is a bit too big these days. And yet, here comes Paul’s son for a visit in 2 weeks. And my daughter and granddaughter the first week of October. So these extra rooms come in handy. I love my beach bedroom and would love to have a whole beach-themed cottage!! Thank you, dear friend.
Fashion Schlub
Wow, three bathrooms! How lovely for guests! And speaking of guests, whenever I’ve HAD a guestroom, I did like you, and would occasionally have a little vacay sleepover by staying the night in them. That was also fun.
How fun to have three different spaces to decorate differently 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank goodness our guest rooms and bathrooms don’t have to be cleaned every week. I kind of shut the doors and ignore them when we don’t have company!!
ratnamurti
hhmmm. A well looked after loo room? Says a lot about a person.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha!! I hope whatever it says is good. 🙂 Thank you for popping in!!
Nancy
We, here in the Netherlands, mostly don’t have guestrooms and not more then one bathroom. And mostly not as huge as yours. It’s so nice to have a peek in other houses!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
That is interesting. Do guests always stay in a hotel or bed and breakfast, then? We have had very few hotels near our home until recently. Nice to have options for guests…either here at our house or close by now.
Daenel Vaughn-Tucker
We sleep in our guest bedroom too. It’s like a vacation.
I also keep a basket of toiletries for guests, but we keep them in the guest room. Along with candy. LOL
Your bathrooms are so spacious. I think a barn door would be pretty cool.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I think I will gently approach PC about a barn door between our bedroom and bath. He will say ‘why?’ and I will need help thinking of a why that will be sound enough. Might have to enlist your help. Great idea to have the toiletries in the guest room with some goodies!! Love that.
Retirement Reflections
I love your Where Blogger’s Live posts, Leslie.
Your totally open, honest, welcoming style is always so refreshing.
I’ve slept in our Guest Room from time to time as well. Not as a vacation and not even to check it out for future guests — but because my husband was snoring and I could not get to sleep any other way! 😀
Leslie Roberts Clingan
LOL, thanks for the giggles. I feel very blessed to have a quiet sleeper of a husband. If he does snore, he usually wakes himself up doing so. And he says I ‘puff’ so if he can put up with that, I can put up with his very rare snort or two. Thank you for the kind words, Donna. Your comments always make me smile.
Deb
It’s so interesting to see a little more of your home! The little guest baskets for your guests are such a kind thought.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you. I keep the little guest baskets stocked but we haven’t had many guests lately…thanks Covid. Paul’s son is supposed to come the first of September but I am kind of worried about having him come now. And Brennyn wants to come in October but it worries me to have her fly with the increase in Covid. Will this ever end?
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! My poor sweet sister almost always forgets something every where she goes. I tend to pack an extra toothbrush and band aids for her whenever we are traveling together. And have them available to her here when she visits.
Amy Johnson
Oh my goodness! You have a lot of bathrooms! I have 1 and a half baths in my house and that’s all I need. I don’t even like cleaning those. ha ha!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
When we moved into this house we had two teens living with us. Paul’s son upstairs and my daughter downstairs. We really needed all this room. Now it is nice for company but in the last year that was Covid, our guest rooms and bathrooms have been unused.
notinjersey
I collect sample sized things with plans to give them to guests if needed, but I haven’t had to use any…well I also haven’t had any guests in quite awhile!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Isn’t that the truth…no guests!! And here we go again. Brennyn was planning to come in October but I am afraid for her to fly.
laurabambrick
It was fun to take a peek into your home! I love the shower curtain and bright towels in your guest room. Your beach themed room is beautiful too!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! My beach bathroom is my favorite.
natashajk
Only you could write a post about bathrooms and have me laughing out loud pretty much the whole time! Thank you! The line that hit me the hardest was, “Who doesn’t want to be swept away to the beach when they are taking care of business?” Me! Me! Me! Now I want a beach bathroom!!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You are so sweet!! Who knew bathrooms could be so interesting?? And fun!!
dousedinpink
It’s so fun to take a peek into your home! Your beach bathroom and bedroom are gorgeous! I need to copy that cute guest basket idea!
