Gal pals, linking up with Anne in Residence for Currently 06.2020. These posts are always fun, kind of like Sentence a Day and my new 10 on the 10th series. Shameless plug…the theme of the upcoming 10 on the 10th post is 10 things we love about summer. Would love to have you join me for that a week from today, 06.10.2020. Read more here.
For today’s Currently 06.2020 we are posting about what we’re buying, craving, discussing, feeling and wearing.
Currently 06.2020
Buying…
patio furniture to satisfy one of my spring goals. My goal was to give our patio and backyard a face lift. Our old furniture was a hodge-podge of wicker furniture I had at my little house before we married in 2008 combined with a couple of pieces we bought together for this house. The legs on almost every piece had rusted through and fallen off. So, we had thrown away our furniture one piece at a time til we were down to one chair and a love seat. On Sunday, when we lifted the love seat to move it to make room for the new furniture, one of its legs fell off of it. Perfect timing. Not sure how we were still safely sitting on it!!
I shopped online for over a month trying to find some furniture that was affordable yet substantial enough to withstand our winds and not blow all over the yard. Discovered Better Homes and Gardens Camrose Farmhouse collection at Walmart.com. It was love at first sight. Combination of brown and black, wicker and metal with a rustic but modern look. Still putting the finishing touches on everything. Will share a back yard reveal soon.
Craving…
a sit-down meal at a restaurant. Maybe Souper Salad? Or sushi? Or Chinese buffet? Actually, even McDonald’s would work…as long as we can dine in! And I don’t have to do the dishes.
Discussing…
and praying about the situation in Minnesota. Thankful that George Floyd’s brother, Terrence, publicly encouraged the people in Minneapolis to “…never forget his brother’s name but also to bring an end to the violence that has racked that city and much of the country in recent days.” [source]
Feeling…
better after taking a few weeks off from blogging and social media to a large degree. Enjoyed using my newfound free time to read more, craft more, and get my spring cleaning done. Glad to be back but going to be more mindful of the hours I spend blogging and surfing Facebook and Instagram (and Amazon!).
Wearing…
a 2 piece bathing suit. It has been years!! No worries…I won’t inflict a photo on you. Just glad to be able to get a little sun on my tummy. And because I actually swim when I am in the pool, my new suit had to be functional and not just cute. Bought this animal print bikini top in shades of brown, black, pink and tan. Paired it with this black A-line swim skirt. Found these mix-n-match separates at Target.
We are really enjoying the pool this year. Especially when we squint so we can’t see all the problems it has.
Spring Goals Update
Since we are transitioning from spring to summer, it is time to review the progress I made on my spring goals. Here’s what I was hoping to accomplish.
And here’s how I did.
FIRST GOALS
- Scrap Cia and Cami births: ✔️ yay, my scrapbooks show that both of my baby girls were indeed born.
- Clean vents and carpets: ✔️ thanks to Southwest Chimney our vents and ducts are clean. And Supreme Clean brought my carpets back to like-new condition.
- Get pool professionally cleaned: ✔️ oh, this pool. The tiles were cleaned and the rust stain was addressed. Then returned. And so it goes.
SECOND HALF
- Update patio and backyard space: ✔️ have new patio furniture, and indoor-outdoor rugs. Putting it all together and will share soon.
- Attend church online; Easter: ✔️ we haven’t been faithful to online church every weekend. But have tuned in several times and did listen on Easter.
- Recipe swap and blog hop: ✔️ you might remember our spring recipe swap and blog hop, here. I made a coconut cheesecake pie that was so scrumptious. Might be time to make it again!
Looks like that’s a 6 outta 6 on my spring goals. Yay me!! Now let’s see what I have set my sights on for summer.
Summer Goals
- Work through the Blogger’s Toolkit course: this is a course I purchased then promptly forgot about. Time to put it to use.
- Make several patriotic crafts: decided to decorate for the 4th the first half of the summer. Need to create a few new patriotic crafts to add to what I already have.
- Have a birthday celebration for all the girls: 3 of my 5 girls are born in July. We almost always have a joint birthday celebration and this year is no exception. Brennyn is already planning to be here. Yay!
- Investigate how to become a notary: Brennyn suggested this activity after paying $100 to a notary for about 10 minutes work.
- Get ahead on my blog writing and reading: After taking a few weeks off from blogging and social media, I am back. Obviously! But I want to get my posts written ahead. And stay on top of my blog reading so it is more enjoyable.
- Create a new blog logo: want something new for the title of my blog at the top of my page. Been playing around with Wix. Has any else ever used it?
Your Turn
How would you respond to these prompts from Anne? What are you buying, craving, discussing, feeling and wearing? Please let me know in a comment.
Stay tuned for the reveal of my summer bucket list on 06.21.2020. Would love to have you create one, too and join me! Not sure why you should bother creating a bucket or seasonal activities list? Check out this post. Number one reason in my book…they are good for YOU!!
Thank you for popping in my friend. Enjoy a restful weekend.
Hugs and kisses,
Donna Connolly
Congratulaitons on your great progress on your Spring Bucket List.
I look forward to the Summer reveal!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Donna! Felt like spring what mostly out of our control. Hoping we will see some more freedoms, but also improved nationwide health, this summer.
Joanne
I’ve been looking for some new furniture for our deck; thanks for the suggestion! Great job on your spring goals.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hope you find the perfect deck furniture to create your ideal space.
Lauren Buendia
So happy that you treated yourself to new furniture. Can’t wait to see it! Love you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Buffy!! So glad to have you come swimming. I love you, baby gub.
Dara
I am happy you’re back. Wearing a two piece swimsuit would definitely be stepping out of my comfort zone! Well, not counting tankinis.
Juhli
Glad to see you back and that you are enjoying your pool and patio.
Deb
How lovely to be able to spend time wearing your new 2 piece while lounging round the pool on your new furniture! I had bought a new tankini for my holiday which we should have been going on in 2 weeks time but we can’t leave the UK now so I’ve just got to hope it will still fit next year! #muststopeatingcake
You’ve ticked off all the goals – well done! And you’ve chosen some fun ones for the summer too.
Jennifer Smith
Hi…welcome back! I’m glad your time away was not too long. But glad that you enjoyed it…and got those scrapbooks finished. If it takes a book to confirm the birth…my two boys are good but my poor (30 year old) daughter is hurting! Sigh. What kind of mom am I? Sure hope you are able to visit a sit-down restaurant soon!! I’m not really craving any particular food – but would love to go if it meant that I could!! Have a great weekend!!
Tamara
Buying: New umbrella stands and umbrellas for the backyard, new stronger kayaks for the harbor we frequent. If we are going to be here for the summer, I want to be able to fully enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. Plus, oodles of toys for the six weeks our granddaughters and family will be staying with us. Excited!
Craving: Craft beer. Love the environment almost as much as the beer flights. Craft breweries have a young, hipster vibe that I find delightful. Even as a non-youngster, non-hipster!
Discussing: What our role is in working to lift the weight of discrimination off of African Americans.
Feeling: Equal parts of despair and hope.
Wearing: Layers. We are in the California spring season of cool wet mornings and warmer afternoons.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Great responses to the currently prompts. I miss the vibe of the craft breweries we visit, too. The beer is tasty and unique but we can get that in bottles and cans to drink at home. I miss the energy, the buzz of conversation.
Amy Johnson
I would love to go to a restaurant, but most are still closed even though they don’t have to be. I fear it will be a very sad summer as all the festivals, pools, and everything else are cancelled.
jodie filogomo
I’m so impressed you are wearing a two piece swim suit…I’m decided that I want to embrace my body and do that too!!

Glad you enjoyed your blog break and well done on meeting all of your goals for spring, I hope you have the same success with your summer goals! 🙂
I find that it’s really tricky to blog if I’m not blogging ahead of time – some nights I’m just too tired after the kids are in bed to get much blogging time in so it helps to have written and scheduled posts in advance! It’s the only way I can be consistent with two kids, haha! I wrote no posts this week but I wrote 3 last week so I’m still ahead!
Hope you are having a lovely weekend! We had a (small, due to restrictions) party for my son’s birthday yesterday, it was really fun 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You are soooo right about the blog writing, and staying ahead of the game. I have done that since returning back to writing and it sure does help. Now to continue this way. Need to look at next week’s calendar and get ahead.
Glad you were able to celebrate your son’s birthday with some normalcy. I worry what this stay at home, away from others time is doing to our kids. My youngest granddaughter is almost 6 months old and hasn’t been anywhere outside of her home. She has come to my house 2 times and is scared but fascinated. She looks at everything with such questioning eyes…like where am I?
Laurie
Welcome back! You are so brave wearing a two-piece bathing suit! I bet it looks great on you.
I am craving a restuarant meal too. Restaurants around here can open for outside dinind (as of Friday) but we haven’t gone out yet. We only got take-out once during the shutdown and it was sushi.
ShootingStarsMag
Sitting down IN a restaurant sounds fantastic.
That’s great you are using your pool this summer. I am definitely enjoying mine – makes me feel like I’m getting away, even though it’s still at home. LOL

We sat down in a restaurant last weekend. It was delightful. I could have eaten PB&J and been happy.
Laura Bambrick
We have a patio set and a set of 4 chairs and coffee table for our patio outside from Better Homes and gardens and have been really pleased! The chairs and coffee table are over 7 years old and going strong! The quality is pretty good for the price!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
So glad to know your BH&G patio set has held up so well. We are sure enjoying ours!
Kellyann Rohr
Walmart has terrific patio furniture. Our friends bought their set there and I love it. Good for you, wearing a 2 piece – you have a terrific figure! I’m afraid if I take time off from the blog I won’t come back – glad you did!!!
xo,
Kellyann
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Kellyann. I didn’t miss all the stress of blogging but missed my buddies and missed the writing. I keep thinking that I could write without blogging but would I?
We are enjoying our new furniture. Hope to have a bbq for Father’s Day with the kids.
