Friends and family, welcome!
Joining the “10 on the 10th” link-up party with Erin at Perfectly Port and my friend Sarah at Foxy’s Domestic Side. Came across Sarah’s post in my blog reading this week and decided to follow her good lead and write my own “10 on the 10th” post. These items could be on a bucket list of sorts except I doubt most of them will ever happen. Mini-makeover at JCP, yes…dancing en pointe, unlikely. So these are dreams that maybe I can fulfill if not this time around, then in my next life. Or in Heaven?
10 Things I’ve Always Wanted to Try
-
Scuba diving.
I have snorkeled and love doing that. But want the experience of going down below the surface of the water and really rubbing elbows with the ocean life.
-
Camping in a nice camper.
I have fond memories of camping in a not-so-nice pop-up camper as a child. Took my daughters camping twice in tents. Would love to rent a nice pop-up camper and spend a week at a lake somewhere.

Making crepes.
I have always wanted to try my hand at making crepes. And I would like for them to come out looking just like these, please. When we went to Paris, I bought a package of crepe mix. It has been unopened in my cabinet since 2009.

Visit Anne Frank’s Secret Annex.
Since I first learned of and read about Anne Frank, I’ve felt a connection to her. I would like to visit the Secret Annex where she was hidden away for so long. But I am almost afraid of the emotions that might overtake me there.

Go on a carriage ride at night.
With PC and drink fizzy champagne from crystal flutes. We saw this same carriage when we visited San Antonio in 2015 but I was afraid it would be too expensive to go for a ride. Next time I will just say ‘charge it’.

-
Ballet dancing on toe shoes.
I took ballet for approximately four years altogether but never danced on toe shoes. These are some toe shoes I had embellished for my granddaughter Cady.
-
Slow dance with PC to one entire song.
Preferably to this song by Journey or .38 Special’s “Second Chance” or Foreigner’s “Waiting for a Girl Like You”.
-
Pay my respects at Ground Zero.
PC may have to work in upper New York state next year, and I might be able to go visit him, so this dream might come true. While we are in that part of the country, would love to return to my childhood home in Boston, too.

Go on a cruise with my whole family.
Something out of Galveston would be convenient. A Disney cruise would be fun. Maybe one going to the Panama Canal and allowing an overnight stay there. I would like to be able to show the girls where we lived in the Canal Zone. And introduce them to their family in the interior of Panama.

Have someone do my makeup.
And have the money to buy the products they use and the ability to apply it. Apparently, I can have the mini-makeover for free. That’s about my price point!

That Makes 10
There are other things, like write a children’s book. But I still have hopes of doing that. It isn’t totally out of reach. But I guess neither is slow dancing with PC or riding in a carriage at night. So time will tell. In the meantime, it’s fun to dream.
Your Turn
I like this “10 on the 10th” link-up and think I will pencil them in for the 10th of the month from now on. If you are a blogger, won’t you join Erin and Sarah and now ME, for “10 on the 10th”? Looks like July’s “10 on the 10th” will be about daily habits. Going to start working on that list now.
Thank you for joining me for a few minutes of your day. Hope you have some wishes and dreams that keep you reaching for the stars.
Hugs and kisses,
I have done 5 of them! You need to hang with me–especially the cruise. Tried to convince Valerie to go on cruise as our girls love them and we’ve been on 4 with them and one with parents too. I need to think of my ten now.
Oh, do!!! Write your ten. I do need to hang with you! For lots of reasons, but if it means cruisin’. then that, too!
Your 10 are great and do-able! I’m interested in writing my ten but with my trips in the summer, and not knowing how good internet service is where I’m going, I’ll have to be super-organized to schedule my posts for the 10th.
Natalie, the next 10 on the 10th is for ten daily habits. I am planning on doing that one, too. And it is something you might be able to dash off quickly in between overseas adventures or even on a tablet or phone?
Looking forward to photos of your trips and great escapes.
Oh my goodness. I love reading EVERYONE’s lists because they are all so good! I always wanted to take pointe lessons but by many standards I didn’t have enough ballet “expertise” but my sweet dance instructor taught 3 of us my senior year of high school. I always wanted to try it and it was HARDER than I thought but so gratifying. I love that you want to go on a cruise, they might be one of my favorite ways to relax and see the world :). We visited the 9/11 museum and it was heart-wrenching and poignant. It was a beautiful tribute. I am so glad you linked up my friend and loved reading your bio to get to know you better!
xoxo ERIN
Erin, thank you for coming by to read my 10 on the 10th post for June. Hope to link-up with you again for July and beyond. Really enjoyed thinking of this list and hope to be able to make a few of these dreams reality.
We are going to revisit our summer bucket lists on July 21st if you would like to join us for that. Please let me know and I will add you to my email group for reminders.
How fortunate you were to experience dancing en pointe and what a devoted teacher to take time to work with the three of you. The world needs more teachers like that. I had gaps between my years of ballet lessons so never got far enough along in one spell to reach pointe ability. Will save that for my dreams!
Thank you so much for coming by. I am enjoying reading your blog. Love your cornfield pictures of summer clothes on a budget and your great flat lays. Going to return to that post for a little ‘shopping’.
I always love these types of posts! I didn’t even know you could visit the Secret Annex! I would want to read her book again before seeing it. We have done the Central Park carriage ride, maybe if you’re in NYC you can kill two birds with one stone and do that and see Ground Zero.

Oh, a Central Park carriage ride would be divine!
I probably should reread Diary of a Young Girl before going to Germany, if I get to go. I doubt we can travel to see the Secret Annex, even if I do make it to Germany, but a girl can dream.
I enjoyed reading Sarah’s and your posts! Except for dancing en pointe (you may have missed that one) you can totally do these! I challenge you to do one this week! Crêpes, maybe?
You must make it to Ground Zero. As much as it is quite sobering, it’s also a fabulous tribute. The amazing part is how much information is there and the people involved!

Found this comment in my spam just now. So sorry to have not seen it earlier. I appreciate your review of the Ground Zero memorial. I expect to be heartbroken WHEN I finally get to visit but love how you recognized the positive side – the energy, commitment of so many to make the tribute a reality. You are such an uplifting spirit.
Sounds like a great list, Leslie. I would love to go camping in a nice camper, too. I have only camped in a tent. I saw ground zero a few years after 9/11 and progressively through the rebuild of the memorial. I hope you get to visit it.

I love these! I always wanted to scuba dive too, but I don’t even know how to swim!
Hi! I’d love to go on a cruise someday, too! I’d like to make crepes someday, also. But you might need a new crepe mix!
My daughters are talking about all of us doing a cruise for my 60th (UGH) birthday in April. Not terribly excited to turn 60 but celebrating??? with a cruise will make it less painful. Thank you for coming by!
