Afternoon all! Can’t believe we are into our second week of the Work Your Work Wear Challenge with Alison Lumbatis. I really like all of the pieces on the shopping list and have liked each of the outfits, too. Liked them so much that I had to go find a job in order to have somewhere to wear these great ensembles.
Today I put on the Day 8 outfit and went to the two schools where I will be teaching art after school through the Young Rembrandts program. I felt polished in my printed pants and bright top, even a little colorful and artsy, too. Received a very nice compliment from one the parent liaisons I will be working with. I was thrilled to see children again! I am truly (nervously) looking forward to my new career. After graduating in December 1979 from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor’s of Science in Art Education. Here we are 35 years – THIRTY-FIVE YEARS – later and I am finally going to teach art!
Here are my outfits for the past few days. Hope they inspire you to try a new take on one of your favorite work wear looks.
The pants in all three outfits are from the Loft or Loft Outlet, a store I only began shopping at since the spring challenge. The paisley top on Day 6 was a gift from my BFF Sharon. She showers me in beautiful prizes and goodies and has the best taste! The orange sweater on Day 7 is from Loft Outlet and the blazer is from Chadwick’s online. The burgundy tee and crocheted cardi are both from the Loft Outlet. My big watch was only $5.00 at Steinmart! The black and white color block D’Orsay flats on Day 7 were $11.00 at DSW. My jewelry is from either Charming Charlie’s (tassel) or Kohl’s. I would never have worn print pants before these great challenges so they are totally taking me to a new place in fashion! Please check out the outfits of my fashionista friends linked below. If you try something new in your work wear wardrobe, be sure to share with me. This old dog loves learning new tricks.

You are going to be the art teacher everyone wants to dress like!!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, baby girl! I was hoping I looked hip and happenin’ and kinda artsy. Super scared to start a new job at my age but heck, that’s what keeps us young…I HOPE!!! XO
Mary
I do believe your paisley pants are my favorite printed pants in the whole challenge, Leslie!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh my stars, Mary! What a sweet compliment. When I bought them this summer, I was shopping with my sister. I have always been a little crazy but when I picked them out to try on, I think she thought I had lost it for sure. I was amazed that I actually like them on…on ME! My husband still isn’t too sure about them but if I wear them enough I hope they will grow on him. Thank you again, Mary, and thank you for stopping by.
Deena
Artsy- I totally agree…I would have pegged you as a painter or something cool like that.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Deena! I have been a librarian so long that I have lost touch with much of my artistic side, although I always incorporated art and creative activities in my library lessons. Should be fun to do art for art’s sake. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I sure enjoy reading yours.

You have such great style. Your outfits are very creative. I love seeing all the different outfits that ladies come up with based on the outfits of the day. They vary so much and always show so much personality.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Such a sweet thing to say, Joy. Until I came upon Alison’s Challeges, I was always worried about looking too matronly or too youthful. I think her outfits and helped me find a happy medium and a new comfort zone! Thank you for stopping by!
Brennyn

Hey Katie!!! So glad to connect with your through our blogs. Where do you buy the pumpkin ale you featured on your blog? I love PUMPKIN!!! I had to re-read what you wrote about indulging in the pumpkin ale because the first time I read your message, I thought you went with your kids from school for a pumpkin ale. I knew that didn’t sound right! Thank you for supporting me on my new job. I start tomorrow…NERVOUS! I need a pumpkin ale!! Look forward to getting to know you and Shaunacey better through blogging. Have a quick work week.
