Rediscovering Life after Retirement

My Winter Bucket List: Final Progress Report, 3.27.2017

My Winter Bucket List: Final Progress Report, 3.27..2017

Hey gals!

Time for the final progress report on my winter bucket list.  There were just a few loose ends that needed to be tied up at the time of my last report, here.  Let’s see if I can finally put this bucket list to bed.

What was left?

From February’s progress report, here’s what I was lacking.

Christmas ornaments or decorating place mats with family

Will have to carry this over to next year’s list.  Somehow it just doesn’t seem right to be working on Christmas ornaments right before Easter.  Good call?

Pay it forward

With the pressure on and time running out, knew I had to get this done.  A couple of Saturdays ago, I took a little extra cash to PC’s ball game, and stood outside the gate to pay the entry fee to the ball park for a few cars.

The young kid in the dark SUV was really surprised to learn that someone was paying his entry fee. Albeit only $2.  He turned to wave at me and then told the gal at that booth that he would pay it forward, too, and he paid for the red truck.  Albeit only $2 but it’s the little things, right?

Record a Christmas story

Nope.  Maybe I should add that to next autumn’s bucket list?  Or, heck, summer’s?

Run a winter 5K

We signed up for one in February then it rained that morning and was terribly windy.  So we skipped it. Moved this to my spring bucket list.  Visit that post, here.  And I am signed up for the “Run for the Fallen” next Saturday, April 1.

Scrapbooking Christmas

On Presidents Day, my sister Valerie and I Skryped (scrapbooked + Skyped).  I worked on two pages with pictures from last Christmas.  We both packed scrapbooking projects to work on when we went to Kentucky for mom’s and Lucia’s birthdays.  Valerie even brought a children’s scrapbooking kit for Cady.

Valerie’s suitcase didn’t make her plane in Houston when she flew to up Kentucky.  That threw a wrench in our scrapbooking plans.  I did get one page finished with a little help from both Lucia and Cady, and my mom looking on.

And that’s all folks

That’s it for this final progress report.  Didn’t get everything completed but that’s ok.  Doing these bucket lists has been lots of fun.  It has helped me to be more productive, to try new things and finish up old projects.

If you are interested in joining the fun this spring, just holler.  We did our initial spring bucket posts on the first day of the season.  But we have a first progress report planned for April 27.  Mark your calendars!!  Have a nice group of gals joining the fun but we are missing YOU!  Even if you don’t blog, you can post pics on Instagram of activities on your bucket list and tag them with #springbucketlist17.

Going to set my lap top aside and watch the second half of the Kentucky-North Carolina in the last game of the Elite Eight match-ups.  Pulling for those wildcats.

Have a quiet Monday!

Hugs and kisses,

leslie

Yes! This is precisely what I’m most looking forward to with regard to the in-process Spring Bucket Lists. 🙂

So wonderful on the Pay It Forward effort! You’ve inspired me to do something similar in my own life, so thank you for that!

I really think writing these spring activities down and posting them holds me accountable. Not sure to whom…maybe just to myself! And my PC, who seems to buy-into them more when they are written in stone on my blog!! When I commit to doing things through my seasonal goals and bucket lists, I tend to get them done. I have so many unfinished projects that wouldn’t take too long to wind up, if I would just do it. Hoping to check off a number of craft projects this spring.

Thank you for the kind words about my Pay it Forward effort. I used to do a librarian lesson with my fifth graders about how they can make the world a little better by paying it forward. I like to have something charitable or philanthropic on my bucket lists to remind me to do what I can to help others.

Good job, Leslie! I’m planning to print out my spring list so I can SEE it and be reminded to DO THINGS!

Hey, great idea to print the spring list and keep it visible. I signed up for GYPO, too. Maybe we can post about it and add that to our bucket lists?

I always enjoy reading about your bucket lists. I miss doing them. I think maybe I will try and do a summer one, I think this Spring is going to be too busy. Every weekend is already booked with stuff, isn’t that crazy? I missed a 10k once, because I thought it was on Sunday and not Saturday! Oops! Somehow I’ve lucked out on all of my races, not to have pouring rain for any of them!! Ok, now I better knock on some wood.

Oh, join us this summer! Just make your list a wee little one. And add things to it you know will really happen. I would love for you to join us. Pencil in ‘summer bucket list post’ on your planner for June 21.
It is crazy that here on the desert we had a rainy 5K and that you haven’t had rain for any of your races in Missouri! It never ever ever rains here!! Looking forward to seeing pics and reading about your half marathon. Does Brian run? Do you guys do any kind of workout together? I am trying to get PC to up his game a bit but meeting with a whole lotta reluctance and resistance.
