Dear ones, it’s time for Thankful Thursday 02.17.2022 except it is 02.18.2022, and not Thursday but Friday. Forgive me? I had the Ageless Style post due yesterday and just didn’t have the energy to write 2 posts as I am already posting everyday this month for #write28days. But if I don’t hurry this edition is actually going to go live on Saturday!!
Joining Rebecca Jo at Knit by God’s Hand and Jennifer at All 4 Boys in sharing the hosting responsibilities for the Thankful Thursday series again this year. Some weeks, you might discover posts from all 3 of us, other Thursdays, it might just be one of us hosting. Sometimes you might find a post from me on a Friday!! But whatever the case, YOU are always welcome to join us!!
THANKFUL THURSDAY 02.17.2022
Big item for which I am grateful is being home this week. Have gotten my house all cleaned up, ironing caught up, laundry washed and put away. As much as I appreciate the opportunities to sub, I am also glad to be home again.
What else am I thankful for this week? Let’s see.
STRAIGHT FROM MY GRATITUDE JOURNAL
My Thankful Thursday posts are usually made up of ‘gratefuls’ I’ve listed in my gratitude journal over the week or month, whatever length of time has elapsed since my last Thankful Thursday post. In this case, it has been a couple of weeks since I wrote my last Thankful Thursday, here, mixed in with other things. There are always lots of things to be thankful for even if I don’t get around to writing a post about them all.
Thankful for:
- quiet day (now week) at home
- PC loving Lucia and Cami, Cady and Declan
- Brennyn and Lauren
- Valerie cheering me up
- my brother, Kevin on his birthday and beyond
- finding the kitties’ preferred cat food at Target (what is with cat food right now, we can’t find it anywhere)
- ability to help Lauren – I took her to the ER and Paul offered to watch the girls
- seeing a photo of Mom at exercise
- Francisco caring for Lauren’s abscess
- sunshine
- phone call from my mother-in-law May
- discovering I can still play my keyboard…sorta
And…
- a nap
- walking my canine charge Lucas with Paul
- Cami saying the cutest things…sky-plane-up-and-down, up-and-down
- Bengals made it to the Super Bowl
- Lauren’s leg is healing
- Declan is chubbing right up – 11 pounds
- writing and journaling time
- 70* afternoons
- fixing my expired SSL certificate on my blog myself
- new pool company owner and the lawyer agreed to inspect our pool
- Lucia’s school, which is the campus where I have been subbing, is no longer in the top 10 schools with Covid
- Super Bowl snacks
What Else?
You probably remember how my mom and her struggles at 94 years-old are always front and center in my heart and mind. And at the top of my list of worries. Recently Mom was dismissed from all of her therapies (physical, occupational and speech) because she is no longer progressing. And insurance will only cover the therapy if there is hope that she will improve. Ugh. So, now she is going backward in a hurry. And without that human interaction, she is very lonely. Has become weaker and weaker and is doing nothing but sleeping all day. We don’t think she could withstand a plane trip here so having her come for a visit is off the table, for now.
My sister Valerie had the great idea to advertise for a companion for Mom in the Nextdoor.com online bulletin board for Mom’s neighborhood. Guess what? This wonderful 64-year-old retired nurse responded and is willing to visit with Mom 3 times a week for an hour at a time!! Starting tomorrow. Hallelujah!! Prayers answered. Thank You, God. Thank you, Valerie. Jeri, thank you. And a big thank you, Kevin, for all you do to help Mom every day.
Your Turn
It was such a nice week being home. Early in the #write28days challenge longing for a quiet day. And I got a whole week of them. PC has a 3-day weekend with Monday off for Presidents Day. What are you thankful for this week? Link up your thankful Thursday post or share in a comment below.
Have a peaceful weekend, friends.
Hugs and kisses,
Marsha Banks
Oh, Leslie! Declan is definitely getting rounder and cuter!!! And, what absolutely wonderful news about your mom! My mom would have been 91 this year. She actually passed on February 18 eighteen years ago. I still miss her every day!

They’re is so much to be grateful for isn’t there. How nice for your mother, on older people the lonely ness is such a problem. So sad. I hope you will have a great weekend.
Deb
Oh I’m so sorry to hear that Lauren has been unwell, thank goodness she has you fairly nearby to help her when she needs extra support.
How lucky to find someone willing to go and visit your mum regularly – it will be reassuring to know that she isn’t lonely during the days.
And what a gorgeous little Declan – the sweetest little Valentine!

What a great idea to find a local visitor for your Mom! Glad your daughter and new grandson are doing better. And how wonderful that the new pool company owner will take a look at your pool problems. Fingers crossed.

So glad you found someone to visit your mom! I never thought about using the Next Door platform for something like this, but it makes so much sense! So glad it worked out for you.
