Fashionista friends, welcome to Ageless Style 12.2024: Holiday Look Book. Today’s prompt comes to us from Bo at Bo’s Bodacious Blog who challenged us to share one of our holiday looks. Our fall and early winter have been more like spring with afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s and lowers 70s, so it hasn’t felt a whole lot like Christmas. The look I am sharing is something I’ve worn twice now during the holiday season. And I packed some of the pieces to wear in Ft. Worth for our weekend visit with Brennyn and family, too. Come see!!
Ageless Style 12.2024
This holiday season I have been wearing a combination of the same 3-4 pieces. Have really enjoyed wearing a tartan plaid skirt that I bought last year but with PC in the hospital over the holidays, I never had an occasion to wear it. It made it’s debut for “The Nutcracker” then followed that up with our church Christmas program.
The Nutcracker
Despite the unseasonably warm weather, we have been celebrating the holidays by attending several events. We kicked off the season with our annual matinee performance of “The Nutcracker.” Performed at UTEP (University of Texas, El Paso) by their performing arts department and dancers from Central and South America.
We always attend with Lauren and her family. This year, it was Francisco who made all of the arrangements for us to go. That warmed my heart because it means as much to him and them as it does to us. I wore my Old Navy tartan plaid skirt, with a green puffy sleeved top from Amazon and an Old Navy red cardigan. Lucia was wearing a dress in the same plaid so we were twinsies and her BFF Maddie came along. Cami wore a dress with cute Christmas print. And Lauren was dazzling in a chic black sweater with a pleated metallic skirt.
You can tell a little bit more about the green top I wore with the skirt this time in the picture below. It is a dark forest green, one of the best greens there is. Wore black tights and mixed media patent leather pumps.
Abundant West Faith Center Christmas Program
Our church Christmas program was on Sunday, the 15th. They go all out. And spend a lot of money but so many people come to church to see it. They gave away 2,500 toys and 800 Christmas dinners, too. Last year, I was able to help with the food giveaway but didn’t want to take any chances with my foot trying to do it this year.
For church, I wore a J. Crew black mock neck sweater. It was embellished with flashy rhinestone buttons at the neck and a bit of tartan plaid beneath the buttons.
I added my L’Artiste booties this time and found them very comfortable on my foot.
Here’s a couple of pictures from the church performance. See what I mean? It is really a first-rate production.

After church, we did our usual Sunday stroll around the outlet mall. PC loves doing that. Then headed home to watch football until our date night that evening.
I posed on everything coming and going!!
The mall has been decorated for the holidays for months. It will look downright naked once they tuck away all the tinsel and sparkle.
The Illusionists
On that Sunday night, we went to the Plaza Theater downtown to watch “The Illusionists.” You might remember that one of the activities on my fall bucket list was to go the UTEP dinner theater (University) to see “Beauty and the Beast” but the tickets sold out almost immediately. So, in place of that, I bought us tickets for this magic show and it turned out to be great fun.
Changed up the outfit a bit because I knew it would be colder and we would have to park and walk a ways to the theater.
This time I paired the J. Crew sweater with a pair of black cords from Loft and a Buffalo plaid kimono that I got in a Stitch Fix box a million years ago. Added my comfy black walking boots and I was comfortable and ready to go.
In that gigantic photo of my head, you can see the bit of plaid detailing on this cute sweater. Hope mixing plaids is acceptable.
You can see the Plaza behind PC. Downtown was all decked out and very festive. I love going down there, especially at Christmas. I wore an alternative to this outfit for subbing last week. Paired the cords with a tartan plaid blouse and a sleeveless black puffer vest. It was perfect for a day of chasing second graders.
Hope you are finding ways to making different outfits with pieces from your winter wardrobe this season. Have been doing pretty well about not buying clothes lately. But here come the winter sales. Check in with me again in January!!

Your Turn
What are you wearing for the holiday outings and get-togethers? I will probably dress very casually on actual Christmas Day because I will most likely be cooking. But it is fun to dress up for all the gatherings ahead of time.
We are in Ft. Worth until Sunday. My post is very late getting published because we’ve had a rather crazy couple of days. You can read more about that and my love for the color green in my Tell Us About post, here. Off to celebrate Declan’s third birthday!!
Hugs and kisses,

Oh, Leslie
You style the holidays perfectly!!
I adore that plaid skirt and I bet it’d even work for Valentines day.
And brava for print mixing.

I really like your holiday outfits and all your fun holiday excursions too!
Thank you!! We have had some fun this Christmas.
Red plaid patterns are always great for Christmas time and you look lovely in all your outfits. How nice that you can get your pretty shoes out to wear again 🙂
You have so many cute holiday outfits and you do so many fun things at Christmas. Your church’s Christmas program looks amazing. Would you believe I use to direct these large Christmas programs at my church? That was a long time ago, I’m retired now.
Thank you!! Our church does put on one terrific Christmas program and it brings in lots of folks. Bless your heart, what huge job that must have been to direct the program at your church. Glad you have retired and can just enjoy being in the audience now.
Wow, your church gave away toys? That’s amazing!
Your shoes! The L’Artiste booties – those are gorgeous! You have so many nice outfits.
I love all your pictures!
You are the sweetest thing. Thank you so much.
Yes, our church is very large with 3 campuses in El Paso. And the parishioners are quite generous. They give out hundreds of backpacks stuffed with school supplies, coats, shoes and socks at the beginning of the school year. Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, and, oh, the toys!! Truly wonderful toys. Skateboards, roller skates, Barbie everything, soccer balls. I prefer a smaller church but this one does some pretty amazing things.
Leslie, I love that skirt! Old Navy, you say? They are really getting the style right the last couple of years while the more expensive brands of that group are not! I love all of your outfits, but you know I’m going to love the L’Artiste booties the most! You look spectacular in them.
The photos with your grands and the ballerina…oh, be still my heart! I’m so glad you are such a big part of their lives. I do wish I could get Mike to go to downtown Indianapolis for some of the holiday things, but it’s not the safest place these days.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous New Year!

I had an older pencil skirt in a similar plaid to my midi skirt that I styled for the Ageless Style challenge. But the length of that shorter skirt hit me in the wrong place. Right across the knee caps so I gave it to my taller sister who looks fabulous in it. The Old Navy skirt was a sale piece at the end of the Christmas season last year.
PC bought me some more booties for Christmas. Very L’Artiste-esque but another brand. Anxious to wear them. I am so thankful those booties still feel comfy after all the issues with this foot. Going on 4 months dealing with this foot. Getting weary.
Thank you for the sweet comments, today and the whole year through. We loved going to the Nutcracker. Maybe next Christmas, Mike will be so much more mobile and you guys can find some daytime, matinee holiday events to enjoy downtown.
Happy New Year!!
Hi Leslie,
I really appreciated your comment on my blog. Truffles, however did not make it after the stroke, so im.heartbroken. My hubby’s dad passed too, so it’s been overwhelming this year.
On your festivities, I love hearing the things you’ve done, the Nutcracker, shopping, and your festive outfits. Love those artsy boots on you.
Thank you for your kindness.

Oh, my sweetest friend, I am so so sorry. Bless your heart and that sweet angel baby, Truffles. I know you are heartbroken. And then to have that compounded with the passing of your father-in-law. I am so sorry. The holidays can be so hard even under the best of circumstances. I am sorry you have had to compound that stress with these losses. Sending you big love.
