30 Activities on My Summer Bucket List

My Summer Bucket List: 30 Activities

Sweet friends,

What a mess I have had this week with my technology.  I was in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky visiting PC who is working there for a short time when my laptop went on the fritz.  Saturday morning it was working fine.  But somehow while we were out and about that day, the space bar on my keyboard gave up the ghost.  Along with my arrow keys…except for the up arrow.  And my question mark.  All MIA.

Love-Hate Relationship

I am now in Lexington, Kentucky with my mom and those keys are still not working.  Strangest thing.  I have been so excited about this post because there is a great and growing group of girls linking up with me for my “summer bucket list”.  Exciting, exciting.

I…was…so…in…fear…that…I…would..have…to…type…an…entire…post…with…periods…between…my…

words…since…I…couldn’t…add…spaces…Something…like…this…No…bueno.

Instead of inflicting a post on you that looked like that, I’ve purchased a $13 stand alone keyboard and plugged it into the USB port to write this post.  You’re welcome.

Here’s how typing like that looks:

My Summer Bucket List: 30 Activities

I am using the mouse pad on the laptop and typing on the external keyboard.  Imagine the typos I am capable of making with two keyboards going at once!  This post may still be practically unreadable.

To top it off, I haven’t been able to get my charger cord plugged into my cell.  So was without a phone for a day until we could get a wireless charger.  When I get home, I am going to need a vacation from my vacation.

Needless to say, this post is going to be brief.  Then when I get back to El Paso and can get this keyboard situation under control, maybe I will come back and elaborate a bit more on my “summer bucket list” activities.

Summer Bucket List

I’ve created a graphic for my list using a photo taken during a Galveston summer vacation several years ago.

30 Activities on My Summer Bucket List

You probably remember that I am a wee bit OCD when it comes to putting my lists in ABC order.  You can take the librarian out of the library but you can’t take the library out of the librarian.  Or something like that.  Please indulge this quirk in my personality.

Spring Bucket Carry-overs

In my final spring bucket progress report, here, I confessed that there were several activities I didn’t accomplish.  So I have carried them over to my “summer bucket list”.  They are denoted with an asterisk.

  1. Attend baseball game
  2. Attend “Music Under the Stars”
  3. Begin Bible journaling*
  4. Collect school supplies for donation
  5. Decorate for summer
  6. Donate treats to animal shelter
  7. Eat on the patio
  8. Feed some ducks*
  9. Finish elephant cross stitch
  10. Get a make-up makeover+
  11. Go out for dessert
  12. Have yogurt outside
  13. Hike and picnic*
  14. Make crepes+
  15. Make homemade bread
  16. Master a summer cocktail
  17. Play catch*
  18. Put love lock on bridge
  19. Random act of kindness
  20. Run a 5K
  21. Scrapbook Easter*
  22. Shoot our guns
  23. Slow dance (with PC through an entire song)+
  24. Summer photo challenge
  25. Take photo with all my girls
  26. Use good camera for My Fashion Haus
  27. Viva el Paso with the girls
  28. Watch fireworks
  29. Work on my mosaic*
  30. Write on my book

And for kicks, I added a couple of items from my list of ten things I’ve always wanted to try or do.  Revisit that post, here.  Hoping to kill two birds with one stone.  I’ve put a + beside them.

Your Turn

Anyone want to wager a bet as to how I will fare on this ambitious list?  I intentionally left off dreams of traveling to exotic locations because I am truly looking forward to some time in my own little house.  And after building the pool, there is no money left for an exotic vacation anywhere but my own back yard.  And that sounds darn good.

So, what’s on your “summer bucket list”?  Are you traveling or enjoying a staycation at home?  Do you have any big projects or special activities on the docket?  You will notice that decluttering my entire house (an activity from my “spring bucket list”) wasn’t accomplished and yet didn’t make the “summer bucket list” either.  That’s because it is definitely going to happen.  Absoltively.  Pinkie promise.

If you have a “summer bucket list” you’d like to share, please link-up below.

Or share a photo on Instagram using #summerbucketlist17.

Please be sure to stop by the blogs of the fabulous gals who have joined me for this post.

I am homeward bound on Thursday.  Struggling to type this has me tuckered out so I probably won’t post again til I get there.  Hope you will join me back here again soon.

Hugs and kisses,

My keyboarding issues continue but I have a new internal keyboard on order. I am so frustrated trying to type on two keyboards right now. I like to use my computer in bed (ha!) or on the couch but balancing everything on my lap is about more than I have the patience for.

Thank you so much for joining the bucket list fun. I am printing my list today and putting it on the frig for easy reference and reminder! Hope we are both successful in completing but most importantly, enjoying our activities.

Well, dear organizer, thanks for breaking through the technology barriers to get us all up and running with the linkup! So far, my thumbnail wins “most unappealing”, haha.
That is one daunting list you have. If that were my list, I think I’d stumble over my clutter and repose on the couch.
Oh! I see decluttering is not on your written list, but on your mental list. We will be decluttering together!

Anne, you make me giggle!! Thank you for being fun and funny and authentically YOU. I am pretty much myself on my blog, too. With all my warts and quirks.

I have printed out a decluttering calendar for July. Supposedly requires only 15 minutes a day to get much of your home back in shape. We shall see. We shall see. Keep me posted on your decluttering progress and if you want to do some kind of post together on how far we come, let me know.

Making crepes used to be something we did on Sunday mornings!! The hardest part is making enough to give everyone their fill because they are so good!!
I’m so sorry about your keyboard and technology issues!! But you sure know how to solve problems, Lesley!!!
Thanks so much for putting this together—you are a doll!

Jodie, I can’t thank you enough for your support and sweet messages as I have attempted to travail these keyboarding issues. I have little patience for anything technological and this is wearing me thin…or thick, as I am eating out of frustrating and anger. My Banana Republic boyfriend jeans were too tight yesterday. Blame it on my computer.

Will be making crepes this summer. Possibly sooner than later if I don’t get my keyboard fixed.

Thank you for joining me for the bucket list series. Holler if you need anyone to help out with Fierce 50 again. XO

Aww, what sweet words! I am quickly eating my way out of my entire wardrobe (if you can even call it that) out of pure frustration with this technology. Love that you see me as a problem-solver. My husband sees me as a problem-creator! And as of late, a big cry baby! XO

That is one serious list, but so many lovely, fun items that will be fun to follow along on! I’ll be particularly interested in your make up makeover given we are about the same age, I haven’t had mine done in years, and it would likely be a worthwhile endeavor to do so!

Love the crepes idea as well, though the thought of having to get in there and turn them strikes fear in my heart!

Enjoy your trip, and your time with PC!

Where did you have your make up makeover years ago? I have never done it because I cannot afford to buy a whole bunch of products afterward that will look like finger paint when I apply them on myself. But I would just enjoy seeing myself all fancy and ‘done up right’ once.

The crepes are one of my first items to tackle on this bucket list. We just need to be home and stay home long enough for me to mix the batter and cook the darn things. Heading off to Albuquerque this coming weekend to visit the youngest daughter and granddaughter and their new home. Was kind of an unplanned trip. And then it will take a wrecking ball to get me out of my house!!!

Thank you for joining in on the bucket list posts. So glad to have met you and Juhli and Natalie. Feels like we’ve been pals for awhile now.

Hey Juhli! I woke up thinking of you and the photo challenge. I am going to work on it today. Thinking of doing it throughout the month of July. Did one other challenge in the past all by my lonesome and loved it. But would like doing it even more with some company. I will create a month of prompts for a photo each day and then, if would like to join in, we can post our pics to Instagram using the same hashtag. That way we can see what the other is sharing. And we could do a summary blog post featuring all of our photos one of the first days of August.

Will send you an email today!

Your blog is warm and friendly and your voice is authentic. I am enjoying reading more about you and the fam. If you would like to try our Sentence a Day series, holler. I’d love to do that but just can’t figure out how to start. Good for you with the 5K goal and I just loved reading all that you hope to achieve during Summer. Have a fabulous day.

Sue, maybe it is my age or my overall bad luck with technology, but if I could blog on paper I would!! In a heartbeat. Guess that might be writing then. Like writing a book! Which is actually one of the reasons I started blogging in the first place. To try to build up my writing on a daily (ha!) basis.

I have several books I have purchased on writing books and have even opened a couple of them. I have a story started but spend too much time rewriting and editing. Need to just write the outline from start to finish, fill in some details and then go back and edit. And I had promised myself to do that very thing this summer. We are into July – in a few short days – and I still struggling with my laptop. Although I have a new internal keyboard on order. My story is going to need to be a picture book at this rate.

You are such an inspiration to me, Sue. All of your fitness activities. I hope to stay at home once we get back from one more quick trip to love on my granddaughter in Albuquerque. And then I am going to get fit like you.

So many things to love on your bucket list! I have a folder on Pinterest where I pin bucket lists and I love yours so much I am going to pin it! I love the love lock on a bridge one, when Brian proposed to me in Paris we were going to leave one on the bridge, but didn’t have a lock. He later had a photographer go out there and put one on that had our names monogramed on it and he gave me a copy of the lock and photos of the lock on the bridge at our wedding! It was so romantic. Unfortunately, I think they’ve taken all of the locks off that bridge now! 🙁 I also hope you get your makeup makeover, you keep talking about that! And, have yogurt outside? Do you mean you just want to eat your daily yogurt outside? lol! I have been wanting to try bible journaling for awhile, but I can’t even keep up with my prayer journal or prayer study book with the kids home from school! Its been weeks since I’ve touched it and I miss it!

Your Brian is something else. What a wonderful romantic. I am so glad you found him and he found you. Love that story of the lock on the bridge. What a keepsake memory for Autumn. She should aspire to finding someone as romantic as Brian when she is all grown up and looking for a hubby.

I made my yogurt outside reference on my bucket list intentionally vague. Dannon on the patio or Menchies at the outdoor mall. Or both!! Hope that I can tick off some of the easier activities this week while we are home because we are heading out of town again this weekend. Happily going to see my Albuquerque daughter and grand but anxious to be home for a bit.

And I need to be home to Bible journal, eat better, work out regularly, work on my crafts and blog. Ugh! Thank you so much for being such a dear to me and for joining up for the bucket list series. Now we need to get you to try Sentence a Day…you can start on July 1!!!

Need to quit eating out and have to get back to exercising regularly or I will soon be out of stretchy pants that still fit. And if this computer business doesn’t soon straighten up, I am going to have to start blogging via pen and paper. Can’t imagine I will have terribly many readers that way!

Tell me how you manage the laptop, a second keyboard and a mouse. I guessing you don’t blog from bed or the couch??? Do you have a desk or table for all of your devices? As I type this, I am in bed on Sunday morning, balancing the laptop on my LAP and the external keyboard there, too. Can’t imagine adding a mouse! Besides, my kitties are up here with me, trying to chew on my cords. Imagine what they would do to a MOUSE!

Sorry for all the technology issues you have been dealing with! And THANK YOU for you putting this all together! I really appreciate it! I wrote a very short list, and it turned out to be more of a weekly to do list (partly because I’m still finishing up the spring quarter and am drowning in papers to grade…). But I’m already seeing a difference in how I approach every day, and I love it!
