Hey Dolls!
Welcome to my third installment in Becky’s link-up series Currently. If you don’t ‘know’ Becky, please treat yourself to meeting her over at Choose Happy. She is the real deal, the genuine article, one of the sweetest bloggers I ‘know’. And Choose Happy makes me feel that way. Happy!
So here’s what I am doing, currently…
Making great progress on spring summer cleaning. Have the kitchen and den finished, ceiling to floor because you always clean down, as well as the master bedroom and bath…can I say en suite? I have never used that term before. The master bedroom and en suite are clean (Ooo la la, so fee fee, foo, foo, I feel like a poodle). I worked all afternoon on my loft which is my version of the man cave, where I scrapbook, journal, work on crafts. The upstairs guest bedroom is almost done, and then I will only have two more rooms and the hall to go…UPSTAIRS.
Just for the record, these are two different rooms. My dresser in the master bedroom on the left, baking cabinet in the kitchen on the right. I am reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo and I just learned this week that my clothes (and your clothes, everyone’s clothes) prefer not to be folded. They like to be gently rolled or hung up. Socks especially hate to be rolled up together with the elastic of one sock rolled down over both of them to bundle them into a ball. I have been torturing my socks, my kids’ socks, PC’s socks for years! Why didn’t someone say something?
Continuing to work on the DIY I was planning in my last segment of Currently. Started in one direction and now taking those ideas and moving in a new direction. Learned a really neat DIY craft idea last Friday when I was scrapbooking with friends. Plan to incorporate it into my DIY and share with you very soon.
Counting the days til my baby girl comes home for a visit. Yay!!! Lauren is coming home on Friday. I can’t wait. I know I just saw her last month but can never see my daughters and Cady enough.
Mommies out there…I guess mommies with older children…do you ever wish you could hold your children just once more as babies? What I would give to snuggle these two little dolls (who were simultaneously screaming) just one more time. Brennyn on the left and Lauren on the right, 3 and 1, Ft. Kobbe, Panama.
Enjoying our green world. As you may know, El Paso is on the Chihuahua Desert and we have an average annual rainfall of around 8 inches. July and August are our monsoon months, ha! And because it has rained about four times in the last two weeks, my world is GREEN! Hope it stays this way until Lauren can see how beautiful the mountains are.
Making homemade bread and preparing a blog post about it. Our family has this 100+ year old yeast starter that we make bread with. The yeast is stored in a jar in the refrigerator until I am ready to make bread with it. There are about three steps to the bread-making process and the end result is a crusty loaf of a sourdough-type bread. Mmmm. Going to make it tomorrow to serve with Skinny Lasagna Roll-ups.
Please forgive the winter tee towel, it is my bread making towel, even in August. Oh, and that lump right in between my “girls’ is my FitBit Zip and not what you might have been thinking it was.
Finally, the last thing I am doing currently is thanking those of you who participated in the Get Your Pretty On graphic tee shirt giveaway. Rafflecopter randomly selected the winner Carrie Albrecht. Congrats to Carrie. She chose a ‘ringer’ tee shirt, white with red ringed neck and at the arms. Carrie said those are St. Louis Cardinals colors but I had to correct her. They are Cincinnati Reds colors. How nice of Carrie to support PC’s favorite baseball team EVER. Her tee shirt choice is on its way. Please keep checking back for future giveaways.
So that’s what I am up to. How ’bout you? What did you today? What’s on the agenda for tomorrow? Would love to hear! Please say hello in a comment below – that rhymes!
Happy hUmP Day!
Hugs and kisses,
deena
Oh, I love the comment about you wanting back a moment to cuddle your girls. I’m going to snuggle my babies extra today, just for you. And I think I may videotape it so I can remember it in years to come. I wish there was a away to bottle the smell of their skin and how warm it feels in the morning….

Oh, Deena! Please do love those babies a little extra today. My oldest daughter is having some very sad struggles and my heart is breaking for her these days. Videotape those extra snuggles today and memorize that feeling and the smell of their sweetness. Love you for this beautiful message. XO

Yay, jump in here and join us for the monthly recap and numbers posts. They are fun. And I don’t even like math! I know your numbers will be skyrocketing each and every month. You will need to have an adding machine to keep up with them. So proud of the lovely blog you have created. XO

I have seen SO many people write about the Tidying Up book and I think I have it on my Goodreads list, but I am so afraid it is going to annoy me when I read it… because, I am very tradition in how I like to store my stuff… not sure if I can roll things or make a huge mess in my room by throwing EVERYTHING in piles! Ahhh! I like to work on little areas at a time. So, I may read it just to read it and see what the hype is about, but I doubt I’ll do any of it. But, I can change my mind on that. 😉 THANKS for the giveaway I was so excited to win!

I have enjoyed reading the Tidying Up and taking what I can from it that will work in my life. But I certainly won’t be applying everything the book suggests! It is a thoughtful, funny (at least to me) read. I didn’t make a huge pile of anything anywhere. Seems counterproductive, huh? But I did roll my active wear in my dresser drawers and so far, so good. XO

I’m sorry I’ve been missing from commenting on your blog! Back from vacation now and getting caught up. So impressed with your cleaning efforts – I really need to get that book and get busy. Love the picture of your green hills, and the bread starter – wow! Totally get what you mean about snuggling your kids – I miss those days so much. Have a great weekend with your daughter!

Hey, Lana! I have been back from vacation for almost a month and I am still not back to my routine. And now I go back to subbing on Monday! Ha! Need to get these leis and this hula skirt off and come back to real life. Thank you for coming by, sweet friend. XO
Ginny
Love organizing, it makes me feel so good. Way to go on the homemade bread too!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Nothing quite like organizing and the feeling it gives you when you are finished. Have you read the Tidying Up book? It is kind of far-out by my organizing standards but a fun read. Will be posting about my homemade bread in the future. Thank you so much for coming by. XO

Hey love,
I am terribly behind in responding to my comments but sure appreciate them. I think I am still on vacay mode, three weeks after the suitcases have been unpacked and the vacation is just a memory. Plan to try to do your Currently series often. Such fun. Good luck on cleaning your closet and basement storage area. The end results will be worth the work. XO
