Shutterbugs and photography-lovin’ friends, welcome to The World Through My Lens, 06.2020. I am sharing my photos for this month’s prompts for the Sunday Stills photography challenge. Last month’s World Through My Lens post was a two-fer. Photos for both April and May. You can check it out here, and my March post World Through My Lens post, here.
THE WORLD THROUGH MY LENS WEEK 23
SUNDAY STILLS, 06.07.2020: Plant Life
Let’s face it, my thumbs are a pasty beige color. Not green at all. So I decided to hit my local Lowe’s in order to capture some plant life rather than plant death!
THE WORLD THROUGH MY LENS WEEK 24
SUNDAY STILLS, 06.14.2020: Home
When I was a librarian, my pre-K and kinder teachers always requested a book called “Where Do I Live?” to help teach the children about the concept of all the places they could call home. Earth, the continent, country, state, city, community, neighborhood, street and finally house where they lived. When I read this prompt, I thought it would be fun to snap a pic of the “Welcome to Texas” sign on the border with New Mexico, then the El Paso city limits, and the sign for our subdivision, my street, and finally my home. But Covid has kept me from venturing out much for my photography. Dad gum it!! So, imagine seeing photos of that sequence below:
Earth–North America–United States–Texas—El Paso—Sandstone Ranch–and my home…
I processed this photo with the Prisma app and the Femme filter.
THE WORLD THROUGH MY LENS WEEK 25
SUNDAY STILLS, 06.21.2020: Rise/Set
Sunset. Over the Franklin Mountains. We rarely have clouds so having them to photograph is a treat. Also rarely have rain so we were excited at the possibility of a storm this evening. But it was too hot. Any chance of precipitation evaporated before hitting the ground.

SUNDAY STILLS, 06.28.2020: Freedom
Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. All gave some, some gave all…for our freedom.
2020 Summer Photo Scavenger Hunt (#SPSH)
Welcome to the 2020 Summer Photo Scavenger Hunt (#SPSH) – the virus edition hosted by Patio Postcards. She describes the scavenger hunt like this: “There’s some searches for at home, close to home or away from home. I hope some encourage you to think outside of the box & some that may require an open eye to find. One rule … use photos you have taken between June 1st & September 30th of 2020, other than that, it’s meant for fun. Find some or find all, I hope everyone has fun with it.”

- Something with the colors of your country’s flag
- A toy you play with
- Something you have more than one of
- An object in the shape of a triangle

My Finds 06.2020
- #3, something with the colors of your country’s flag: I’ve made a couple of patriotic garlands using a garland I bought at Walmart, then adding additional tassels with red, white and blue fabric I bought at JoAnn’s.
- #5, something you have more than one of: daughters and granddaughters. Snapped this photo of my 3 beautiful El Paso girls the other day before taking Lucia to school.
- #7, something that displays a rule: or in the case of commissary during Covid, a lot of rules.
- #14, object with wheels: I discovered this little Moana figurine in a boat where Lucia had tucked it under the cabinet in the kids’ kitchen.
Alt A. An animal statue
Alt B. An item heavier than your shoe
Alt C. Something with four sides
YOUR TURN
Have you participated in any of the monthly photo challenges floating around social media? Had thought of hosting my own photo challenge for July but life is just too unpredictable right now. I struggle at times to just take the 4 photos for the Sunday Stills. Decided this wasn’t the right time to bite off more than I could potentially chew.
Here are the July prompts for Sunday Stills with Terri. Would love to have you join us. Hoping I can take advantage of the world opening back up, to snap some more diverse photos.
July 5 Perspectives
July 12 Sky
July 19 Wild and Weird
July 26 Yellow
Wishing you a peaceful first week of July. Thank you for spending a few minutes with me, checking out the world through my lens 06.2020.
Hugs and kisses,

My thumbs are brown for sure! Luckily the flowers outside in my garden do well as long as I just leave them alone but I can not grow anything in pots and actually keep them alive.
Why is it so hard to grow anything in a pot for most of us? I know I ‘love’ things with too much water.
I like the photo scavenger hunt idea. This week for 52 Frames the theme is “edited by someone else.” Which leaves me with no ideas for what to actually take the picture of!
Wonder how you came out on this 52 frames theme?
Enjoyed seeing your pics!
Thank you. I have my good camera working again so hope to up my game.
You already have some great finds for the scavenger hunt!
How lovely to see a picture of where you live – house styles really are a LOT different there to where I live in the UK!
Thank you!! I have enjoyed your photos from the scavenger hunt so wanted to join in.
So fun! I love the world through someone’s lens.
I always get emotional seeing military cemeteries.
Your photos for Sunday Stills were glorious, Leslie! I’ve been known to head to the flower area at Lowes or HD to photograph flowers, too. The sunset looks beautiful and so does your home! thanks for sharing this month! I always look forward to it! I’m hosting all through July but taking a break from the blog for some travel and packing in August through Labor Day Weekend. There will be an announcement on my SS page. Another blogger has agreed to host while I’m away! Hope all is well and everyone is thriving!
I look forward to photos from your travels. Enjoy every precious moment.
Love the scavenger hunt photo idea and am taking it with me on our upcoming family visist for a Nana and granddaughter activity. Always enjoy your photo posts.
Yay!! Maybe photography can be part of Camp Quarantine.
Beautiful photos! I especially love the flower ones.
Thank you!! I bet your garden is a photographer’s dream.
Hi, Leslie – you’ve done an awesome job with these photography challenges. You are very talented. Thank you for showing us your home.
Thank you, my darling friend. You always warm my heart.
That photo of the girls is so beautiful. I love the sunset photo. I can’t keep plants alive inside the house, but I do better with outdoor flowers!

Photography scavenger hunts are always so fun… I just never complete them. LOL And COVID has not made life any easier.
The picture of the little people – so very sweet.
Thank you!! It seems to me you are back to taking more photos again. I sure enjoyed the lovely captures from your kitchen and the lighting you used.
That sunset photo is superb!!
