The World Through My Lens 02.2020

The World Through My Lens 02.2020

Shutterbugs and photography-lovin’ friends, welcome to The World Through My Lens, 02.2020.  The photos below were taken during February for the 2 photography challenges I am participating in this year.  One challenge is the Sunday Stills series hosted by Terri at Second Wind Leisure Perspectives.  And the other is #belonglifestyle with my friend Dani and the gals at The Belong Life Style on Instagram and their blogs.  You can visit last month’s The World Through My Lens post, here.

Here are some of the images I captured the second month of the year.

SUNDAY STILLS, 02.03.2020:  Shadows

SUNDAY STILLS, 02.09.2020:  Sweet

My PC is very sweet and so was the cinnamon brioche French toast with lemon-blueberry curd I had for breakfast at Wildflower Bread Company.  Got a kick out of that sweet throw back phone on the wall, too.  Wonder if anyone remembers how to use them any more.

WORLD THROUGH MY LENS WEEK 7

SUNDAY STILLS, 02. 16.2020:  For the Birds

Work with me here.  This was a toughie for me.  I am not a big bird fan.  In fact, really find them rather distasteful.  It’s the way they seem to think of the whole world as their personal bathroom.  Also not fond of their swooping down on me to use my hair as their toilet.

But I do think it is kind of cute the way birds make their homes in the giant saguaro cacti.  I think mostly woodpeckers but could be mistaken.  Decided to put my dusty librarian hat on and looked it up.

Saguaro cacti are host to a great variety of animals. The gilded flicker and Gila woodpecker excavate nest cavities inside the saguaro’s pulpy flesh. When a woodpecker abandons a cavity, elf owls, screech owls, purple martins, finches and sparrows may move in. [source]

Something Sweet

Shared the recipe for my grandmother’s cinnamon and orange rolls a few weeks ago.  They are definitely sweet to eat and bring back many sweet memories.

Self-Care

Lifting light weights while walking.

Looking Up

This glass bouquet was hanging above a seating area at the Wildflower Bread Company.  I thought it was so pretty.  Tried to capture it from several angles.  You never know what you’ll see when you look up!

Galentines

Bought my smallest galentines a new outfit for Valentine’s Day.

Be(e) Mine

Captured this bee on the wildflowers growing along the hike up to White Tanks.  I don’t actually want him to be mine.  But, he works for the prompt.

Before and After

Before the UTEP basketball game began and after.

Water

Not sure when I last washed my car before 02.17.2020.  It had been so long that one trip through the car wash didn’t get it perfectly clean.  But it looked much better.

Date Night

Suspended silverware on display at Crave Restaurant.  We had dinner here before the Alan Jackson concert which was divine.

What I Wore

Cowboys boots seemed only fitting for the Alan Jackson concert.  Don’t you agree?

(Saturday) Morning Routine

I prefaced this prompt with my own word – Saturday because we can’t do this every morning.  But on Saturday mornings, we open our bedroom door as soon as we wake up and let the kitties climb in bed with us.  Can you see Purrsnickitty on the left and Purrsimmony on the right?

The World Through My Lens 02.2020

By my count, that leaves me with sharing the last 7 days of the @belonglifestyle February Photo Challenge.  Haven’t check to see if they have prompts up for March but will.  Hope to continue with that challenge and of course, Sunday Stills with Terri.

Update:  The gals at Belong Lifestyle are not doing another photo challenge until late summer or fall.  So, I will check back with them in a few months.

Your Turn

Did you snap some favorite photos this past month?  Do you use a phone camera or something grander?  I have been trying to take a photography class for over a year now with no luck.  A friend recently shared classes being offered on Tuesdays by local photographer Monica Lozano.  But pickleball lessons may be moving to Tuesdays.  Ugh.  Will I ever learn how to use my DSL well??

Have my timer set to ring so I can get busy cleaning house.  With 53 seconds, I must bid you farewell.  Thank you for coming by!!

Hugs and kisses,

leslie

Love the glass bouquet and the cactus, you can keep the snow! Do you get dizzy in a carwash? One here has crazy neon lights of all colors that go on and off, by the time the wash is done I feel very dizzy!!

Thank you. I liked the glass bouquet myself. And the snow, too!!! I don’t get dizzy in the carwash, really, but I don’t like to be in there for long.

You captured some really great shots! I am slowly learning to use my DSL camera but I feel like it’s such an uphill battle.

Thank you so much. I am trying to learn how to use my DSL, too!! It is tough. I have signed up for several photo classes and something has gone wrong every time. Guess I will have to teach myself!

You take such beautiful photos – I think a themed month like this is a fun way to try using your camera more, even if you can’t get to a class I’m sure you learn a lot from the prompts! 🙂

Hope that you are having a wonderful weekend 🙂 We had a date night last night which was awesome 🙂

Hey lady, these photos are wonderful! Great job… Also, I haven’t found a photography class in my area yet, so I’ve just been snapping whatever I see with my cell!

Practice makes perfect with our cameras. I need to get my good camera out again. But I am having trouble using my cell as a remote with it now. Complicates things. Thank you for stopping by and leaving such sweet words about my pics!

You took some great photos! I love the glass bouquet – beautiful! Of course you had to wear cowboy boots to see Alan Jackson, gosh I would love to see him!

Oh, if you ever have a chance…for sure go see Alan Jackson. Such a heartwarming concert. PC isn’t even a fan and he really enjoyed it. Now to see Brad Paisley.

That is one busy photo challenge you are in, Leslie, glad to see your shots of the February photo challenge. I’m glad you shared your Sunday Stills photos, too, I LOVE your shadow image of the cross. Stunning and evoking a meaning that Christinas deeply understand.

The photo of the cross/window and reflection is just so gorgeous, Leslie. And, I know you love crosses. Oh, your breakfast with PC looks so yummy. I love a good breakfast. I don’t think my kids would know what to do with that phone.

Thank you, Carrie. I think I might frame that cross in the shadows photo. I really like it, too. My mom gave Cady a phone with buttons and she didn’t know what it was either. I love to eat breakfast out, too. Or in, for that matter. It is my favorite meal.
