Happy Monday, lovely ladies!
A few weeks ago, I wrote the inaugural post for The Blended Blog’s “Style Perspectives” series. For the series, each Wednesday one of us TBB contributors is styling a favorite piece from our wardrobe, and then the others of us are styling something similar we have in our closets. Last week, Lisa from Daily Style Finds shared shades of pink. You can read her TBB post, here and my interpretation, here. The week before I kicked things off by styling a faux fur wrap and all the gals created a look with their favorite wrap. Check out my TBB post, “That’s a Wrap”, here.
Which brings me to today’s post. I have so many “wraps” that I love this time of year, I’ve decided to share a few more of them with you here. In all honesty, I hardly go anywhere without some kind of jacket, cardi, kimono because I am generally very cold-natured. In preparation for the TBB post, I ran around to some of my favorite stores to see if there was anything trending in wrap-wear that I needed to be aware of.
Guess that is the librarian (and bargain-fashion horse) in me.
Here are some of the pieces I found during my field work.
For the most part, the jackets were neutral colors, in lots of textures and shapes, some belted, some open, some long and drapey while others were shorter and boxy.
Although I like the look of the shorter, boxy wraps, I don’t feel comfortable wearing them. At least not yet. I am working out more and eating better so who knows…maybe that square, softy-pink coat is in my near future. But for now I feel like they hit me in the wrong place, right in the middle of my middle-aged middle that I am working hard to tone-up.
The longer lines of these cardigans really appeal to me.
I stumbled across them at H&M.
How great is it that they are sleeveless?
Fringe is still a big trend and so are those big patch pockets.
This cape [exact, similar] caught my eye and I had to try it on.
Can’t be all work and no play while I am canvasing the mall.
I didn’t buy it but now I wish I had. It even looked kinda cute with my necklace and gray booties that day. What in the world was I thinking? Guess I just had my mind on my research.
Might have to go visit it tomorrow.
A few days later, I found myself up to my ears in research at Marshalls. Toughy-tough-tough job but I want to be thorough.
I saw this open-work, long cardi and fell in love with its possibilities but probably more with its price than anything. Available in an ecru (I have no idea what color that is but like the sound of that word) and eggshell.
I like the idea of being able to wear this with tank tops, tees and blouses – having some coverage and length without a lot of weight.
And for $12.99, I could cut it up and use it as wash cloths.
Here’s how I, make that we styled it the first time out of the gate.
Purrsnickitty was insistent on helping me play dress-up. She is all girl.
Marshalls open-weave cardigan [similar, similar], paisley blouse from Dress Barn [similar, similar], Loft cuffed jeans [similar, similar], Unisa peep-toe nude heels from DSW [similar, similar].
The necklace was a gift from my sister Valerie.
Here I am, bleary-eyed because of the time change to Daylight Savings Time Saturday night. Or at least I can blame it on that for a few days, anyway.
Having a terrible time adding pics from work…ooops…call it my lunch break!
Will add a couple more when I get home (just got them added…call it coffee break).
I think I have mentioned how much I love Pinterest and Polyvore and Paul, of course. If I could just get him to take photos of me more willingly. Here’s a look I created with similar pieces to the one I am wearing. If you haven’t tried Polyvore, consider doing so on some rainy day when you don’t have a good book to read!
Thank you for spending a few minutes of your day with me. Please leave me a comment below just to say HI!
Hugs and kisses,
Deena
Beautiful colour combo…but my favourite one is the pretty kitty posing on the clothes.
