Sashay on in here, amigas mias!
It is another Wednesday and that means another “Style Perspectives” link-up with The Blended Blog-gers.
Our prompt for today was chosen and originally styled by Lana who blogs at Two Teens and Their Mom but you can check out her great look for this link-up at The Blended Blog. Lana suggested we put together an outfit featuring a spring sweater, jeans and flats.
That’s my kind of comf.
Pretty much my uniform, no matter the season.
And because it is a look that most gals can replicate easy, I decided to hit up some of my buddies to share how they would style today’s prompt and to allow me to share their interpretations with you.
So grab a glass of wine, a frosty beer or a bottle of water, make yourself at home, and enjoy today’s fashion show.
First up, we have the lovely Janice.
Janice and I have been friends since the first days of the “Get Your Pretty On (GYPO) Style Challenges” with Alison Lumbatis. Although we have never met, I consider Janice a buddy just like I do you. I love the warm, buttery yellow in her sweater and coordinating coffee cup. Here are the details on her outfit: white curvy skinny jeans from Loft;
Cozumel blue lace-hemmed tank and lace & satin hemmed 3/4 length sleeved top (love), both LOGO by Lori Goldstein; floral cardi by Isaac Mizrahi; silver-toned statement necklace & silver huggie earrings;
white ceramic watch;
metallic snake (great pairing!) print sneakers. Love the femininity of that tank and top.
Thank you, Janice.
Here we have Phyllis. A second GYPO buddy. I have enjoyed watching her darling granddaughters grow through pics posted on FB. I love that she took the prompt and replaced the jeans with a classic denim dress.
Phyllis found this cardi and dress at Target. I have looked for this same cardi in my size at the Target in Houston and now here at home with no luck. It is flying off the shelves. And no wonder, I LOVE IT! The belt (so cute the way it looks like a bow) and shoes are from Amazon. Necklace and earrings from Macy’s. Isn’t that necklace just made for that cardi? Phyllis is an absolute bloomin’ beauty.
Next up we have Mary, another of my GYPO pals. Once again, I haven’t met Mary but we are pow-wowing about trying to get together sometime this summer with a third GYPO challenger friend, Laurie.
Bless Mary’s heart, it is still nippy up where she lives so she adapted the prompt to better suit their barely spring weather. Here are the ingredients to Mary’s great look. Navy pants are Kut From the Kloth ponte knit-so comfy; tee is from Target, vest (gorgy) is from Beautique Boutique (ordered online), scarf is from Nordstrom last year, booties are “Circus” by Sam Edelman from Famous Footwear( on sale right now). The flats are also from Famous Footwear last summer. Love how she has spring in her scarf while still being cool-weather comfortable with her vest and long-sleeved tee.
Thank you, Mary.
The next fashionistas are people I actually know.
How ’bout that? I have friends in real life and virtual life, too.
So tickled to have my sister (-in-law), Greta, here to walk “My Fashion Haus” catwalk. She lives in the quaint little town of Troy, Ohio and whenever PC and I are in town, Greta will sneak me away to shop the great thrift/vintage stores in the town square. Greta has a wonderful sense of style showcased in the unique pieces she finds.
Here’s the rundown on Greta’s great look. The cardigan, shirt and pants were from Ann’s Closet (used clothes) but originally the cardigan was from Express, the shirt (love that delicate floral) was from Forever 21, and Guess jeans. The bracelet (so Cleopatra-like) was from a going out of business sale at a local boutique in Troy. The purse is Guess, but Greta inherited it as a hand-me-down. Her earrings are old costume jewelry and the belt is from Walmart. Greta was sweet to include a necklace I gave her in this outfit. Such great finds! I could shop all day long at our thrift stores and not find a thing. But those shops in Troy are something special.
My friends and baseball buddies, Marg and Laurie, were so sweet to send me pics of their prompt outfits. Their husbands play baseball on a 50 and over baseball league with my PC. A group of the players and their wives get together regularly for lunch after the games and on some Friday nights.
Marg always looks runway ready and her prompt outfit is no exception.
Marg’s pants and top (reminds me of Blue Willow dishes and an old favorite children’s book by the same name) are from Chico’s. She finds some great pieces there. Her jacket is Loft and the lovely scarf is from Germany. I love, love, love those pale pink/rose quartz/blush pants. I have admired Marg’s sense of style for years when we were both librarians in the same school district.
Taking her place on the runway next is Laurie. I was so tickled to receive pics in my email yesterday of Laurie in her flirty-fun outfit. I just discovered recently that Laurie is a sister Tri-Delt, so we are home-girls of sorts.
Laurie’s top is a sweater (adorable Parisian-feeling graphic) from Worth New York and the pants are red jeans from Macy’s. Her jewelry and shoes are perfect accessories. Laurie is a natural! And how about that beautiful view looking out over El Paso? I am a Target shopper and wasn’t familiar with Worth New York until Laurie shared this outfit with me. She suggested that Worth New York has lots of great fashion inspiration so I popped over there tonight. Wow! To take a peek for yourself, click here.
Bringing up the tail-end of our fashion show, we have yours truly. It was unseasonably chilly when I was in Houston but I had packed clothes anticipating the usual, almost unbearable humidity. So, once Lucia was born and she and Lauren were ok, I ran to Target to get something warmer to wear.
I felt a little self-conscious in this outfit because it was too many different colors and nothing tying them together. One of the days when I was out with my sister Valerie, we ducked into Charming Charlie to check out their scarves. I was hardly in the door before the store manager complimented me on the bold colors of my outfit, wearing the yellow and blue together. Ha! I didn’t have the nerve to tell her I was there looking for a scarf to bring my “look” together.
This is the scarf I bought at Charming Charlie. The cardigan and boatneck, long sleeved tee are from Target. White Loft zipped-ankle jeans, Mix No. 6 black flats in the pic on the left and Payless sling-back heels on the right. My earrings are from Charming Charlie, too.
I wore this outfit to school today and had so many sweet compliments. I feel more confident that the pieces work together as an outfit once I added the scarf.
I kinda like this one. Need to remember to wear it again. Maybe with the flats next time.
So, as they say in the business, that’s a wrap.
Thank you to my lovely friends for sharing a little bit of themselves with us today.
Thank you, for stopping by, too. And there’s still time for you to play along, if you like. As a blogger, you can click on the InLinkz button below to add a pic of your interpretation of today’s prompt. We just ask that you follow the guidelines for the link-up:

Last week we styled bright pants, which apparently equates to red pants for the majority of us.
Here is a recap of The Blended Blog-gers interpretations to that prompt.

And you, my friend, are too kind!!! That yellow and blue scared me to death until I added the scarf. Now it is a new fav in the rotation. Can’t wait to see your version. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. XO

Thank you, sugar. I went waaaay outta this girl’s comfort zone with the blue and yellow. I like me some matchy-matchy. But I think it turned out ok!

LOVED seeing some familiar faces and I especially love your colour combo at the end!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! We did have some fun in the early days of the challenges. Such great gals.
Lana
How fun that you asked some friends to join in! Everyone looks so pretty. I LOVE blue and yellow together (my favorite color combo) and you are absolutely gorgeous in this outfit. The bright colors look great on you. Charming Charlie has the best scarves!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Charming Charlie is just fabulous, huh, Lana? Where did we buy scarves and jewelry before? I guess I didn’t. Loved hosting our GYPO buddies. Great gals.
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
I love, love, love that you featured some of your friends! I saw that you asked your friends on FB and was excited to see what everyone came up with! I love these colors on you and they look GREAT together, even without the scarf, but the scarf is super pretty with it too. I need to find a charming charlie!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You have to find a Charming Charlie, Sarah, ASAP. You will love it. Make sure to leave the kids with Mr. and allow yourself a good hour to meander the store.
Christy
I love that your friends participated. .And more yellow…. great minds think a like as Lana told me 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
My mom always cautioned me that I look sea sick (green?) in yellow. But it is all the rage this spring and I just had to climb aboard. Thank you for stopping by.

Thank you. Ha! I love that Lauren told you about Charming Charlie. If she is out and about, she is there, Forever 21 or J.Crew! Thank you for coming by.
Abbie
This is so much fun. Loved meeting some of your friends and I absolutely adore your outfit and those blue shoes! Hot momma!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
My blue suede-less shoes from Payless. I keep the price tag on them to keep me humble. I am a cheapskate when it comes to shoes. Thank you for your sweet words.
Mary
Thanks for inviting me to “dress up” with you today! So fun! I miss all my fashion friends, so this was great! Hope you had a great birthday!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
So glad you joined me, Mary! Thank you for being so sweet and stylish.
Sheila @ Making the Most of Every Day
So fun to see all the different looks and the back stories on everyone. Your color blocking is fantastic and I would copy that look in a heartbeat! It’s fantastic! My friend has the same scarf and I just love it!

Thank you, Sheila. Love that there is a name for my use of blue and yellow when they aren’t matchy matchy. Color blocking. Color blocking. I like that.

Leslie Roberts Clingan
So glad you came by, Ada. I did link-up with you and will make it a regular link-up! Thank you.
Alison @ Puppies & Pretties
I like your outfit without the scarf, but LOVE it with it! It really does help tie it all together.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha! I felt uncomfy in the outfit without the scarf. I think I needed it like a security blanket. Felt scary wearing the blue and the yellow together without it.
Stacey
This is a fun post! I love your blue and yellow together. The shoes are wonderful and the scarf does the trick.
Going to look online for your friend’s bicycle shirt. 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Did you find the bicycle pillow? Was it terribly $$$? I loved it but I have a feeling it is waaaay beyond my budget. So glad you came by and left a comment. Thank you, sweet Stacy. I felt kinda “naked” in the blue and yellow until I added the scarf…ta da…it was the cherry on top!
