Ladybugs, linking up with Erika and Andrea, today for my Friday Favorites, 06.2020 post. Even though this is a weekly post for many of my blogger buddies, I’m just hoping to share my faves once a month, on the last Friday. And so far, so good. In case you missed it, please check out the goodies in last month’s Friday Faves, here.

Quarantine Tees
Since there seems to be no end in sight to Covid and stay at home restrictions here in Texas, I am thinking of ordering enough of these tees to have one for each day of the week.
2020 Staycation
Anyone else vacationing in your own backyard? PC said when we built the pool, it would be awhile before we would take a real vacation. And this summer we have no other choice. Thank goodness, we have both really enjoyed using the pool more. Updating our outdoor space has made it a more comfortable and attractive place to be.

Or this one…something for everyone in the family.

Quarantine Coordinator
Has your list of household chores doubled since this whole virus thing started? What with all the wiping down door knobs and light switches with antibacterial wipes, washing masks with disinfectant, spraying down shoes with Lysol, cleaning groceries before putting them in the pantry. Pretty sure those tasks fall on the shoulders of the quarantine coordinator.

Camp Quarantine
Now that (online) school is out for summer, do you feel like you are running a day camp for the kids in your life? Most summers the kids would be outside playing with friends, joining a team to play their favorite sport, accompanying you on vacation. But we all know where those typical summer activities have gone…by the way of the Dodo. I could wear this tee when I help Lauren with the babies.

Quarantini, Please
Mama needs a quarantini and so does Mimi and Gabba. Make mine neat. Whatever that means. This would be a great tee to wear on Friday as we wind down the week.

Quarantine Happens
And this shirt would be perfect for Saturdays.

Social Distancing
This one is kind of like a quarantine highlight reel.

Better Days are Coming Tee
Finally, a hopeful tee.

Summer Style Trends
Alison is my girl. She is so real. And she has rarely steered me wrong. Some of the pieces she shares in her GYPO capsule wardrobes are a stretch for me. But Alison offers alternatives to the trending pieces that are sometimes out of my comfort zone. The first piece she mentions in this video is the kimono. This year I am learning to wear my kimonos with shorts. And I love that look.
Kimono Love
Like I said above, this summer I’m embracing the tee+shorts+kimono formula as my daily uniform. I am not real, real comfy wearing shorts at 62 but I’m a-wearin’ ’em anyway. Pairing them with a kimono gives me a little more security, and a little more coverage to hide behind. Make that to hide my behind behind.
Just ordered this patriotic kimono for the 4th of July. Gotta love Amazon…they are going to get it here before the holiday even though I waited til now to order it. Check out these watercolor-look kimonos under the apparel tab at Alison&Aubrey. Alison and her daughter demonstrate how to wear this simple piece as a kimono, sarong, scarf, shawl, and wrap. Why, that’s like having 5 pieces for the price 1!
Kimono-Wearing Tips
My darling friend Jodie at Jodie’s Touch of Style made this fun IG video to demonstrate 5 different tricks for styling a kimono. She is cute as a bug’s ear and this video is fun to watch. Can’t wait to try all of her great tricks. You can check out Jodie’s video, here.
Hawaiian Macaroni Salad
If kimonos are the perfect summer accessory, then Hawaiian macaroni salad is the perfect summer side dish. Found the recipe on Pinterest and made it this week. It was so tasty. With its sweet but tangy dressing, this salad made a great accompaniment to our grilled brats and baked beans. Would be yummy for lunch on its own with some crackers or a crusty roll. Check out The Recipe Critic’s video for making this macaroni salad, here. Just in time for the 4th!!
Your Turn
Those are some of my favorite things this week, what are yours? Have you tried the tee+shorts+kimono combo yet? What’s on the menu for your holiday weekend? Hope you will let me know in a comment below.
Looks like another quiet weekend in the Lone Star state. We had our highest number of positive Covid tests today with 233 new cases. Our governor is beginning to close things back up again. And made a comment today that shutting the state down completely is not off the plate. Could be a longer summer than we ever imagined.
Hugs and kisses,
This was a extreme hot week in the Netherlands and that is very tiring. But today my father and huis wilde come to visit and that s so good! Haven t seen them in months! Have a great weekend!
So glad your father and his wife were able to finally visit. I was hopeful that my daughter who lives on the other side of Texas would be able to come in July but not sure now. Our governor has re-instituted mandatory mask wearing again. This virus has been exhausting even for those who haven’t been sick!
Oh my goodness, those quarantine shirts are hysterical! In these difficult times all you can do is laugh sometimes to get through it.
Laughing to keep from crying!!
Love the quarantine t-shirts and yes, this is going to go on a very long time. I recently saw a headline that said something like “you may be bored with Covid but it doesn’t care”. Your pool and lovely granddaughters sound like they will help the summer go by happily though.
Hope you are about to enjoy time with your children, soon. We had a health scare with Lauren so we have been apart for awhile. But
she is feeling better and they will be here for the 4th.
I actually don’t do any of those tasks, thankfully, as I have enough to try and coordinate. If anything I think I’ve kind of slacked off on household chores since I know that no one is coming over anyway. When we do have people over we’re almost always outside so I am keeping my patio cleaned but that’s about it. That macaroni salad sounds delicious! I just made a pasta salad this morning to go with our grilled chicken tonight and I’m planning on grilling up some steaks tomorrow.
I am worrying more about keeping the patio clean these days, too!! Ha!! Hope you will try this Hawaiian pasta salad. It could easily be a light summer meal.
I really need to get a quarantine tee! All of these are so fun but I think my favorite is the Better Days are Coming! I love kimonos and a kimono and shorts combo! That Hawaiian macaroni salad sounds yummy! Have a wonderful weekend!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Thank you, Jill. The Hawaiian salad was yum and truly filling enough to be a meal. Add some crusty rolls or crackers and a glass of white wine…voila.
I hope we don’t get closed up completely, again. It’s just too hard. Or, maybe let the younger people and those who would bounce back easily live their lives and have the higher-risk folks quarantine themselves.
Anyway, I’m down with quarantinis! I’m sure you’ll look adorable in your shorts and kimonos. The stars and stripes one you found is so cute and perfect! Have fun with your grands, we miss ours terribly!
Thank you, friend! I know you must miss your grandbabies. I get to see mine then things get worse and I go for weeks without them again. Looks like this stupid Covid is not budging…and now mandatory mask-wearing across the state. Probably should have done that in April and maybe now we could be mask free. Shoulda, woulda, coulda.
I’ve got to ask … what are ‘grilled brats’? Over here a ‘brat’ is an annoying or badly behaved child so I’m really hoping that isn’t what you’ve cooked on your bbq 😉
Love those t shirts – so appropriate for 2020. We’ve got to find something to smile about!
Sorry to hear that you are back confined to home again, much as I’ve not enjoyed being made to stay home, I think it would be worse to have things relax and then have to go back a step again. We have a lot of changes coming next Saturday and I hope people don’t go crazy and cause our numbers to go up again just as we got them coming down and staying down. Only one more week before we can meet up in people’s homes 🙂 Getting closer to the grandchildren is gradually edging nearer!
So glad that you are very possibly able to hold your babies or visit with them in their home or yours at the very least. Enjoy!!
Brats are bratwurst sausages…and poorly behaving children! But we haven’t resorted to cannibalism yet!! Ha!
I want to order one of those tees for myself and my daughters. Maybe a birthday queen in quarantine for the girls who birthdays are the end of the month. Our state just made mask wearing mandatory everywhere. So I fear we will not be together for their birthdays as we had originally planned.
I adore kimonos with everything but especially with shorts! You rounded up some great graphic tees and that Hawaiian Macaroni Salad sounds scrumptious!
xo,
Kellyann
I am so glad I followed your good lead and started trying kimonos with shorts. Found one photo from last year where I wore them together. So this is really the first year and I love them paired. I feel so much more comfortable wearing shorts when I have a kimono helping to cover the backside view.
Hope your babies will be home with you for the holidays and and your sweet mama, too. Enjoy!
Hi, Leslie – Those quarantne t-shirts totally cracked me up. They are absolutely adorable. And the Hawaiian macaroni salad sounds delicious. I look forward to giving it a try!
Hope you will try the macaroni salad. It is a meal. Maybe with some crusty bread and a glass of white wine??
I love the tees. Especially the coordinator one. I need that. We do plan to vacate but do not plan to do much more than quarantine on the beach instead of our home. Happy weekend!
Oh to quarantine on the beach. Can I drive you??
So many fun quarantine t-shirts!!
Aren’t these tees great. Now which ones to buy!!
I do love those shirts! I have a friend that makes t-shirts and I’m sure she has some Quarantine versions. It’s crazy about the states shutting down again, but I don’t blame them. Things opened up too quick, in some ways, and in other ways, it’s people being selfish and dumb and not wearing masks or avoiding large groups. I’m glad you have a pool though – I do too, and it’s made the summer much better so far!
-Lauren
Hurray for our pools and pool times. If your friend has some quarantine tees available, I would love to share them on my blog. Let me know. I think KY did things right with the whole shut down and opening back up. You guys seem to be staying ahead of the game. We were late to get Covid in Texas and then we opened up with states that were ahead of us. Now we are paying the price.
Hey, check out the book The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. Kentucky setting in a piece of historical fiction.
These t-shirts are really cute! I love the different outfits. No vacation outside of the country this year for me. So lovely to be able to hang out around the pool.

Aren’t the tees fun? Will be buying them and sadly wearing them all summer, I think. No vacation here either. But we can save up and look forward to next summer, I guess. Thank you for finding my blog, stopping by and leaving a comment. Heading over to discover your space right now.
Those shirts are funny! But I like the rainbow best.
The rainbow quarantine tee is the most hopeful!!
I didn’t know about the quarantine tees! How funny! And fantastic. And I think the summer of the kimono is something I could easily get behind too. HEHE.
xoxo
I want all of the quarantine tees. And it looks like I may have lots of time to wear them as we are going backward here. Boo!
What a cute idea! I had not seen these t-shirts. You always have the good stuff here.
Thank you so much. Going to order a couple of those tees next week. Sadly, I think I will get a lot of wear out of them still.
Hi friend,
I have tried the kimono with a tee and is does make for an easy outfit. I like all of the quarantine tees you featured, too. We have to keep a sense of humor to make it though this stressful time!
Take Care,
Anne
