Dear ones,
Welcome to Currently, 10.2018. In my currently, I am struggling to stay afloat in the current. That other definition of current. Everyday just seems to float by. And I fall further behind on all I want to do. Of course, my to-do list is the size of two football fields end to end!! Need to give myself some grace.
Joining Anne in Residence and all the gals for Currently, 10.2018. Anne asked us to share what we are currently collecting, making, planning, taking and wearing. Here are my responses.
Currently, 10.2018
Collecting
…rocks. Smooth, paisley shaped rocks. Plan to paint them. But have been saving that for a month or more. This weekend, though, it’s gonna happen. Come back to check out my finished art work!
Making
…soup. Or I will be. My Prince C. has asked to start ‘soup diet’ for the next 10 days until we go out to Phoenix for the Senior Men’s Major League Baseball World Series. Today was commissary day, and I bought ingredients for a variety of different soup recipes. Crockpot Mexican street corn chowder…a lot like my recipe for Mexican street corn on the cob. Creamy chicken and mushroom soup, white chicken chili soup, chicken pot pie soup and French onion soup. Will be hosting a soup recipe swap and blog hop right here, tentatively scheduled for 10.23.2018. This month’s Tasty Tuesday.
Planning
…our trip to Phoenix via Albuquerque. It has been 3 months since I have seen Lauren, Lucia and Francisco. And going on 4 months since I have seen Brennyn, Cady and Mustafa. That’s a long time for this momma/mom/mama/Mimi/Gabba. Lauren continues to have health issues, with a flare-up this past week. Will be glad to be with her, to hopefully help out in some small way. To love on that baby. And to attend the Balloon Fiesta. Then on to Phoenix for a week of baseball. Life is good.
On our trip to the World Series last year, we stayed at the cutest little RV called the Dog Haus. I wrote a review about our experience with tiny living for a week. Check that out, here.
Taking
…Melatonin to sleep better. Instead of sleeping more soundly the first couple of nights I took it, I woke up about 2:00 am raring to go! Maybe it had to build up in my system? Whatever the case, I am sleeping like a champ now. Generally I get about 7 hours of sleep a night. Turning out the light around 10:30 pm and getting up with the alarm for quiet time around 5:30 am. Always feel like I could sleep some more but once I get both feet out of bed, and start my day, I realize how rested I am.
If you struggle with occasional insomnia, you might check out Melatonin. But ask your doctor about it first.
Wearing
….the outfits for each day of the Fall 2018 Capsule Wardrobe. Was so pleased to discover that many of the pieces on the ‘shopping list’ were things already hanging in my closet. Chambray shirt, olive pants, maroon blouse – check, check, check! Want to open my fashion haus to share a few of my outfits but here’s a sneak peek of one for now.
The formula for this outfit was olive pants, white tee, camo scarf, black cardigan and booties, I think. Wore this to the movies where I always freeze. My scarf isn’t exactly camo but had traditional camo colors and was lightweight for our still smothering afternoon temps.
Going to strap on a life preserver or at least stretch out on my air mattress and try to remember to go with the flow. And enjoy the scenery along the way.
Your Turn
Tell me true, what are you collecting, making, planning, taking and wearing? Would love a glimpse into your currently, 10.2018. Are you bobbing or floating?
Going to start my day. This post is one day late. But would you expect any less (or more) of me? Have a great hUmP dAy, loves!!
Hugs and kisses,
Laura
The painted rocks are so popular here! I keep telling Alise that we’re going to do that, but the opportunity just hasn’t been available to do it. Have fun with your project!
ShootingStarsMag
I’ve painted some rocks at a library event. It’s fun! I hope you have a good time with your project, and I can’t wait to see the final results.
That’s great that you’ve been sleeping better. Sometimes I have a really hard time falling or staying asleep.

Hope you woke up feeling less pressured today. Looking forward to seeing the painted rocks and your outfit is perfect!

I take melatonin and yet I still wake up and can’t fall back to sleep. Ugh.
Dani
Have you had any side effects from taking melatonin? My friend mentioned waking up groggy and having terrible nightmares, so I’m curious how your experience has been. I love balloon festivals, and I’ve heard that the one in Albuquerque is amazing- enjoy!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hi!! Nice to meet you. Will stop by your blog, too. I am not groggy in the morning with the Melatonin. In fact, because I am sleeping so deeply, I awake more rested and able to get up earlier. But I am dreaming some crazy stuff. Dreams that go on and on and on! Most of them entertaining, thank goodness! A couple of times, I have awakened to find myself doing something in my sleep…nothing too far out, but one night I was scrolling on my pillow as if it was a touch-screen monitor!
I live in El Paso where we used to have a spring balloon fest but nothing on the scale of the one to our north in Albuquerque. I am excited to share this experience with my 2 year-old granddaughter. Don’t know who will be more amazed!
Thank you for coming by. Hope you will stop in again.

Have fun painting the rocks! I know you’ve been looking forward to that for a while now! And enjoy your travels and family time. I’m enjoying the GYPO fall challenge too. It’s been fun to see you over there!
Anne
Love that you’re doing the fall capsule – that outfit is great! And it sounds like a fabulous trip. Hope you enjoy.

Thank you for hosting Currently. It is such a fun series. Makes me think out of the box, which can be tough for me at times. We head out on our trip this week. Looking forward to some time away! Thank you for coming by.

I’m glad Melatonin is working for you. I have found it has worked well for me in the past too. I hope all the baseball in Phoenix is fabulous! I miss the days of commissary shopping. I always found the best deals!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I hit the commissary for big monthly shopping then Wally World for milk, bread, produce in between. It is comforting to me to shop there, somehow.
I am so thankful for the nights of good sleep Melatonin has given me. I hope it continues. I think I am able to sleep less because for a change, I am sleeping well!
How are you?
Kellyann Rohr
Well I can’t wait to see your painted rocks! I am artistically challenged and so impressed by the creativity of others! All of your soups sound so cozy for fall weather, I don’t make too many soups but I do love to make crock pot chicken chili, so easy and delicious. I’d love to see your recipe for Mexican Street Corn. We had some here in Nashville and it was so good. I take Melatonin not regularly but maybe I should. I have a hard time staying asleep. Ugh.
Your upcoming trip sounds like something to get excited about!!!
xo,

I finally sat down to work on painting my rocks. Only just got started but will finish some tomorrow. I get so nervous to start a new project or try a new recipe but once I get started, I can usually keep it together. It’s just getting starting that intimidates me.
Oh, Kellyann, please join our soup link up on 10.23! I would be so honored. You could share your crock pot chicken chili. I, for one, would LOVE to have that recipe. Let me know if you are interested and I can email the details.
I think the Melatonin is allowing me to sleep more soundly and restfully. Still waking up pretty early, which is ok Monday through Friday, for work. But would like to sleep a little later when I can. I am taking two chews a night. I love them! Like having a bedtime snack in bed.
