Howdy, pardners!
Sharing a movie review for Brooklyn tonight.
We are back from a Thanksgiving trip to visit our parents in Kentucky and Ohio. Got home at 10:00 this morning – which means we flew out of Dayton International Airport at 5:30 am. Here’s a picture of us, bleary-eyed and waiting to board.
PC is sporting the smile he promised me after frowning for pics on Thanksgiving.
Man of his word.
We dropped our suitcases just inside the door, gathered Purrsimmony and Purrsnickitty and climbed into bed as a family, for…well, a catnap.
Late this afternoon, we took in a movie.
Brooklyn.

PC is a huge movie buff. He watches trailers for all of the upcoming movies so he knows which ones we should plan to see, which ones we should save for Netflix, and which movies we should altogether avoid like the plague. He had seen the trailer for Brooklyn and told me there was a movie coming out that he wanted to take me to see, knowing I would love it.
He was right.
I did.
So did PC.
And we aren’t alone.

Just added Brooklyn to my To-Read shelf on Goodreads and will add it to my Christmas list.
Hope to read and review it soon.
And so, I leave you with this quote:
“Ending a novel is almost like putting a child to sleep—it can’t be done abruptly.”― Colm Tóibín
Same goes for blog posts …
goodnight, sweet dreams and, as always –
Hugs and kisses,
PC
4.5 out of 5 Stars – So many horrible movies being pushed through the Hollywood sausage grinder anymore. It was a great treat to find one that just tells a nice story that you can lose yourself in for a couple of hours that isn’t laced with horror, vulgarity, violence, sex or mindless silliness.

Hey Love! Just emailed you. Thanks for finding me. Whoa, that chat on the webinar was too fast for me. Loved the movie and since you did, too, I am sure we will be fast friends. XO
Alison @ Puppies & Pretties
I think this movie looks really good. And I’m not a big movie person!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Alison, it is sooo good. Just a wholesome, good story. Hope you will check it out. Even on DVD or Netflix in a few months.

I’ve seen this trailer and knew it would be a wonderful movie. I think I’ll love it too! Thanks for the input on it.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, you will love it. With all of the violence in the movies today, this is a refreshing change.

They previewed this movie before The Hunger Games..I love looking back in that era and it’s on my list to see!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay! I am sure you will love it.

I want to see this movie right now! So up my ally, I would definitely give this trailer 5 out of 5, I think I’ll go buy the book and then watch the movie when it comes out of video, only because I don’t ever have time to get to the movies, hehe.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I want to read the book, too. Just wish I had read it before seeing the movie. Such a sweet, touching story.
Katie
Great trailer! This looks so good!! Will pick up the book before seeing the movie/

I want to read the book, too! I have a few chapters left of The Nightingale and then will be ready for my next book. Too many books, too little time. And a slow reader too!

Hello Leslie! Well you were almost(not quite) in my part of the country when you visited Ohio recently, I’m still a bit further north in MI. Thanks for the movie review-I saw a preview of this and now I for sure want to go see it. So right back at you, I’m recommending the movie ’33’. Me and my hubby saw it last Sunday and we both really enjoyed it-plus it was a TRUE story! It was the Chilean miners trapped for over 60 days back in 2010. I remember hearing about it on the news then but the story behind it was really good – all the way through! Quite the tear jerker by the time it ended (fortunately successfully!) but I don’t want to give anything away in case you get to see it. Are you back to your working/retired life tomorrow? LOL! I just got back from vacation the Monday before last-my older daughter & I flew to FL to take a week’s cruise with my lil’ sis! It was Allure of the Seas Royal Caribbean and we had a FAB girls trip!!! Perfect weather & SO much fun!!! My sis always takes over the role of ‘cruise director’ and does a great job of it-we went on 3 excursions in Eastern Caribbean and a good time was had by all-I’ve been missing it already!! Hope you have a great week coming up, simply cannot believe there’s only 1 day & 1 month left to 2015-boy did it fly by! Then in February we’ll be the exact same age!😳 Bye, Cathy C.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay! Thank you for sharing your review of “33”. It is the next movie I want to see. I remember watching the news about those miners and the ones in the most recent West Virginia mine catastrophe. Such scary work.
I am loving being back in a library, Cathy! Loving it! Feel like my purpose in (professional) life has been restored. And having a little extra money works, too!
So jealous of your cruise! Have wanted to take one for as long as I can remember. I need to make a mental note (that I will never remember) about your cruise ship…Allure of the Seas/Royal Caribbean, and maybe this summer PC and I can check it out. Was this your first cruise? How fun to be with your daughter and sister together.
You always write the sweetest, newsiest comments. So glad you are still stopping by. If you ever want to guest-post on the blog, let me know. XO

I haven’t heard of this movie or book, but now I need to go check it out. Glad your travels were safe! Brian always has his eyes closed in photos for some reason! Lol! I am always telling him to not blink! Glad you got a smiling one of your husband!

Our hubbies are quite the pair when it comes to picture taking. I just have to hear the word camera and I start smiling, trained my daughters and granddaughter to do the same. Hope you will grab Brian and check out this movie. It is such a sweet, touching story. I am sure you will love it.

Do you have Carmike or Cinemark movie theaters near you? Is it playing near your home? I am not sure it is showing everywhere. Please let me know if it is showing in your neck of the woods.

I love movies! I can’t believe I haven’t seen previews for this movie. I blame it on recording my shows and fast forwarding through commercials. lol. I will definitely add it to me list of movies to see 🙂

I think this movie started with a limited screening area. It opened about a month ago but didn’t open nationwide until Thanksgiving. I hadn’t seen anything about it on TV either, but we do a lot of fast-forwarding over here, too. No time for commercials. Please let me know what you think if you check it out.

I finally saw this movie on Sunday and it was as lovely as you said it would be. Thanks for recommending it!
