Morning glories!
Girls, we are already beyond mid-summer! Which means it is time for the first update on my 2018 summer bucket list. To tell the truth, I just printed it out today to stick on the frig because I had forgotten what was on the list.
Good thing I did, right? Not a moment too soon, considering I had this update to do! Here’s my list of 2018 summer bucket list activities.
Relieved to be reminded that there are only 15 activities on this season’s list. Here’s how I’ve fared so far.
2018 Summer Bucket List: Update, 07.2018
- Attend Brennyn and Mustafa’s wedding celebration. We did! It was beautiful. But we still don’t have the professional photos to show off. It’s been a month for pity sake! Here are a couple of photos we took, though.
- Buy colorful pots to set out in the rock gardens. Pending. Did find a little shop that sells what I have in mind. Now to persuade PC to go look with me. That’s going to take some doing because he says I kill anything planted in a pot.
- Celebrate the girls’ birthdays. Pending. Cady’s birthday is 07.28, Brennyn’s 07.30 and Lauren’s 07.31. Ka-ching! Expensive month for this mom. Looks like my girls won’t be here for their special days but we have been together quite a bit lately.
- Date hop downtown. Pending. I have a feeling this might be happening for our belated 10th anniversary. My Prince has agreed to plan our anniversary date. He’s so good.
- Family photo. Yes! Have been trying for several years. It isn’t a professional photo but I will take it. Love my fam.
- Host summer book club. Yes! We are on our third book, girls. It is crazy. Just loved our second choice, Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. If you haven’t read it, please think about checking it out.
- Movie at Alamo Drafthouse. Pending. But our old Carmike 16 was recently purchased and refurbished by AMC, and it is de-luxe! Reclining, HEATED chairs. Lots of room in the aisles. New refreshments. We saw “Ant-Man and the Wasp”. Not my cup of tea but the popcorn was delicious.
- Participate in the summer style challenge and share 3 outfits. Done, son! The capsule pieces for the GYPO 2018 summer style challenge were especially cute. Shared a couple of outfits in this post, here. Have another post style coming up from my fashion haus, very soon.
- Plan special anniversary celebration. Pending. Our 10th anniversary was 07.11.2018. We have an anniversary of our wedding blessing ceremony in September, which might be when we finally get to celebrate.
- Plant cactuses and succulents. Oh, yeah, baby. And bonus…they are still alive.
Click on images to see my pretties up close.
- Take part in dance classes, a 5K or some other physical activity. Pending. When I wrote this, was kind of thinking PC and I could register for line dance at the community college. Need to hit him up with this idea.
- Try 3 new restaurants. Pending. My friend Whitney at Whitney a la Mode has been trying the grooviest restaurants in her area. I want to find some new, quaint eating establishments in the 9-1-5.
- Visit a winery or attend Tap and Cork. When my sister visited, we lunched at St. Claire Winery and Bistro and sampled some of their wares. Tap and Cork is coming up in August.
- Watch sunset from Transmountain. Pending.
- Water activity in Ft. Worth. Might have to nix this one. We had planned to take Cady and Lucia to a water park a couple of days after the wedding festivities but the weather was most uncooperative. We did go to the pool but that wasn’t exactly what I had in mind.
This post is short and sweet because I haven’t accomplished that much for this summer bucket list update, 07.2018! But for the next time we get together for a summer bucket list update, 08.2018, you’ll need to pack a snack to enjoy while you read about all I will have completed.
Your Turn
Did you create a bucket list of sorts for the summer? If so, how are you doing on your list? Even if you didn’t make an official list, have you accomplished or enjoyed some activities you were hoping to get to this season? Inspire me with your progress in a comment below.
And if you are a blogger with a bucket list/summer fun post to share, please click on the frog to link-up with us.
Start thinking about your autumn bucket lists, too. After all, Walmart and Hobby Lobby both have fall and Christmas decor going up already. I look forward to autumn each year but can’t begin to think about Christmas. It was 105*F here today!
Enjoy your weekend. Thank you for spending a bit of it here with me.
Hugs and kisses,
amy
I don’t know, I see a lot of “pending” on your list…you better get going! 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha!! You made me giggle, Amy. I do need to get going on my summer bucket list. Have it on the frig now, to remind me. Ha!!
Juhlin Newkirk
Thanks for sharing your family photos! I agree – lots of pending on that list which is why I don’t have one right now. I’d be all over the restaurants and winery though.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Well, we will let you off the hook for summer but hope you will join us in the fall with a bucket or fun list. I think fall is the best time for one! It is my fav season for so many reasons.
Gail
7 November is my birthday 🙂 I love reading your bucket lists. You’re such a busy bee and all your activities sound fun. I should have had a list because I’ve actually done quite a few different things lately, like trying new classes at the gym, going out again with Meet Up, going to work by train…..
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Love that you have enjoyed a summer trying new things. Would love to have you join us for the fall bucket list posts! They are the most fun, in my opinion. I love fall! I have been looking at offerings through Meet Up because you inspired me to try it out. Haven’t done anything with any of the groups yet but until you shared about it, I had never heard of it. I think taking the train occasionally to work would be refreshing. I love riding the train. Please think about putting together a teensy little list (or a huge one) for autumn!!
Christie Hawkes
Nice work on the family photo. What a lovely family. I read Before We Were Yours a while back and also loved it. Good luck on the rest of your list, but whatever you do, just enjoy the summer. It’s passing by so quickly!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thanks Christie! Oh, the summer is flying by! And you are right, sometimes it is better to just concentrate on having fun without worrying too much about our lists. I will keep my on the frig, though, so I don’t forget it all together. Ha!
Daenel T.
The photos from the wedding are beautiful. I know it had to be so different and so exciting at the same time. The family photo is nice. I’m hoping to get one of our entire gang this Christmas when everyone comes home. I’m beyond excited about that. I would love to take a dance class. The Hubs has really bead knees, so I don’t see that happening anytime soon. LOL at the potted plant killing. My family says I should be banned from ever buying plants again. No green thumb at all.
Anyway, can’t wait to see what else you accomplish.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey, Daenel! Wish you would think about creating even the tiniest of autumn bucket lists and joining us this fall. Would love to be inspired by you. I think my dance classes will have to wait til fall and maybe a photography class, too.
I feel so badly for the plants I buy. I try so hard to be a good plant owner but even my best intentions are met with brown leaves and dying blooms. So far the succulents have managed to survive in spite of me.
Danielle
You are doing pretty good with your list, even if you did just print it out! Haha. Can’t wait to see more pics from the wedding. I cannot believe that stores are putting out fall stuff already. I am not ready. I need more summer!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Have so enjoyed seeing your vacay pictures. My PC says we can have a vacay next summer. YAY!! When I asked Brennyn about the wedding pictures, she had completely forgotten about them! We may never see them.
I bet you do need more summer. You have been on the go since it started. Hope you have a little quiet time before school starts back!
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
Ha! I need to take a look at my summer bucket list, too! The kids have 3 weeks left before they go back to school and I should see if there is anything we can get in still. I can’t wait to hear about your 10th anniversary night out that PC is planning. Brian is supposed to be planning a progressive night out for my bday, we’ll see if he remembers.

Three weeks til the kids go back to school? Yikes. How did that happen? I know you will squeeze fun into every last moment though.
So thankful that you all were home from Branson when the terrible duck boat tragedy occurred. I am just hearing about it. So very sad.
Natalie
Thanks, Leslie, for hosting the link up and sharing your lovely family photos. We still have plenty of summer time left so you’ll get to enjoy your summer plans and check off more fun items on your list. Look forward to reading your August update.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Natalie, for joining up for the bucket list series. I am not in panic mode yet about the ‘pending’ items on my list. Printing the list and putting it on the frig will keep it fresh on my mind. Heading over to check out your progress now.
ShootingStarsMag
I think you’re doing really well – especially since some of the things on your list you can’t do until next month anyway! Yay for getting a family photo. It might not professional, but I think it turned out really well. 🙂

Thank you, Lauren, for encouraging me on the progress I’ve made on my summer bucket list. Now that the list is tuck on the frig, I hope to mark off more items before our next update.

It’s hard to stick to a list when something unexpected comes up and steals some of your time – so although you still have a lot pending, you’ve clearly done a lot of things that were never on the list in the first place!
The list idea reminds me of when I was at work, each year we would have a Performance Achievement Record where we would have to say in September three things that we would do to improve our work over the new school year. Some people would come up with three new things to somehow add into their already busy days but someone gave me great advice and said to put in ONE new additional thing, but make the other two things that you had already started, that way you are half way through two thirds of your yearly work plan right from the start! Just a thought …
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You are so wise!! Thank you for that idea. I should keep carrying over things from one season to the next, too. Because there’s always one or two activities that escape me. Would love to have you join us for fall!!
Dara
Great job so far!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thanks, friend. Glad to have another month or more to mark more off my summer bucket list. Come join us for fall!! We will post on 09.21.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! Come join us for our fall bucket lists!! We will go live on 09.21. Let me know if you are interested.
Cindi
I lost my list. Does that count?
oops. I just found it.
I have done NOTHING from my list.
I guess I changed my mind after I wrote it. LOL
But I’ve accomplished other things.
Do those count?
LOL
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Absolutely they count. Just add whatever you’ve accomplished to the list of things you haven’t done and join us on 08.21 with your update. Start putting together that autumn list now, girl!!! Thanks for the laugh.
Laura
What a beautiful photo of you and your family! I can’t believe how close all those birthdays are! I am sure it makes it hard to get all the gifts and celebrate! Sounds like you have a great start to your bucket list! Having it on the fridge is a good idea to remind you of everything each time you are in the kitchen!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet one. I love my family so much. Someday I am even going to get a professional photographer to take our pic. I thought we had that at the wedding celebration but they have never given my daughter the photos or video they took!!! Infuriating.
Would love to have you join us for the fall bucket list. You could add some activities in your new house, and new city. It could be as simple as you like. Think about it! We will share our autumn lists on 09.21. Plenty of time for you to get settled first!
