Happy Hump Day, girls! Linking up with Lindsey over at The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday
(except I wore this on Tuesday)
for their ‘Oh, hey girl’ link-up.
But this is going to be snappy because my right wrist hurts. I think it is trying to tell me something. I think it is screaming that I have been spending too much time on my laptop – blogging, reading blogs, looking for new blogs to follow, Facebooking, emailing, and shopping!
About ten years ago, I started having trouble with my wrists and I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel. Probably from shelving books and using the computer at the library. The doctor gave me some lovely wrist-forearm braces to wear which helped because they kept me from doing just about everything.
Then my elbows started hurting and they said I had ulnar tunnel, not carpal tunnel. And tennis elbow – although it had been some time since my tennis playing days. I stopped wearing the braces and started going to the hospital every morning before work for prickly, little electrical treatments and some occupational therapy. Felt better and about that same time I was blessed with a library assistant who shelved many more books than I did. (Her poor wrists and elbows!)
Over the last week or so, my right wrist has started hurting again.
Probably worse than ever. And I am not playing any tennis or shelving any books.
I dug out the old, right-hand brace yesterday and started wearing it. My wrist feels much better when I have it on. I just can’t do anything again. It makes bending my wrist impossible so typing, writing, and eating are tough-toughy-tough.
To top it off, Paul and I have been on one of his “soup diets” this week and eating soup with my brace on is the best diet ever. I can’t hit my mouth with the spoon! At this rate, I should have my Sports Illustrated bathing suit edition body ready in no time.
Another problem with these braces is I can never remember how to wear them. I think for weeks I wore them upside down or backwards when I first got them. I didn’t realize until Brennyn told me.
So yesterday I sent these pictures to both daughters in a text message asking which way was the right way to wear my braces.
What’s your best guess? Picture A or Picture B?
Okay, before you have me committed for not knowing my left from my right, I do realize that in Picture A I am wearing the right brace on my left hand. That was just for demonstration purposes so my daughters could tell me which way the brace goes. And they did.
So, put that cute little wrap-around jacket away. I won’t be needing that.

(You can find out which way is the right way to wear my right brace in the picture below.)
Back to what I wore.
Ta-da!
Here’s the run down:
Dark wash, boot cut Liverpool jeans. (They have the lyrics to Beatles’ songs on the inside of the pockets.)
Black, long sleeved tunic blouse from New York and Company.
Off-white quilted vest from K-Mart. (Got it for $11.00!)
Nude patent heels from DSW.
Gold chain necklace and gold ball earrings from Charming Charlie’s.
And right hand brace (Picture B) from my doctor at Beaumont Army Medical Center, 2005.
Now that I look again at this little off-white vest, it kinda resembles that little wrap around number just without those crazy sleeves.
Speaking of Beaumont Army Medical Center, it was the site of a murder-suicide yesterday. Actually at the VA hospital next door. Please think a good thought for the family of the doctor who was killed by an Army veteran and former employee of the Ft. Bliss VA clinic. These are trying times we live in.
Hugs and sticky kisses,
Lana
This outfit is gorgeous on you! And Yay for bootcut jeans! Hope your wrist is feeling better, and I will say a prayer for that poor family.
Claire

Hi Claire! Thank you for coming by! My wrist is better this morning. Wore my brace pretty much all day yesterday. Have a blessed Friday. Come back again soon.
