As I prepare this post, we are home at the palace again now. My PC is off for the 4th of July celebrations so we are in search of fireworks to watch that night. Have begun writing my sentences for July. Would like to invite you to join us! It isn’t too late to catch up for this month and we will share our July sentences on August 3rd. AUGUST? Good gravy!
If you have a “Sentence a Day” post for June, please link-up with us below.
I want to thank Sarah at Foxy’s Domestic Side of keeping this series alive, and Jodie at Jodie’s Touch of Style for bringing new bloggers to “Sentence a Day”, and a big thank you to YOU for taking a moment of your day to be here with me.
P.S. Turning my laptop in to be worked on this afternoon, 7/3. Hope they can clean out the Bloody Mary mix. May be out of commission for a few days. But keep checking back, I’m down but not out!
Hugs and kisses,
Sheila @ Making the Most of Every Day
Oh girl you crack me up!! Your home pic!! 😂😂😂 But what’s the deal with the cracks/ eroding dirt???? You can’t leave us hanging!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Sheila, this pool. Oh, Sheila THIS POOL. Oh, I said that already. We think they mixed the concrete incorrectly. Water is leaking from somewhere (through the 26 deck cracks???) and eroding the dirt around the pool and further cracking the deck. The electricity was not done to code but the inspector passed on it! The pergola is cracking everywhere and dripping sap into our pool, staining our plaster. It goes on and on.
But we can swim in it for now. Still fighting with the builder and the city inspectors. In the meantime have learned that our former hot tub was never permitted and inspected and was incorrectly wired. And pool builder just piggy-backed off it. Leaving our house in danger of burning down or up. And some window replacements we had installed a year ago were never inspected. I tell you, practically no one (present company excluded) does their job right any more.
Thank you for coming by. Like our castle, do you? Comes complete with poorly constructed pool!! XO
Amy Johnson
Whew! I can’t even keep up with you, you’re always so busy! No wonder your month flew by so fast. Love the midi skirt on you. I wish I looked better in long skirts, but I always think I look frumpy. The tick story is scary. I live outside in my wooded garden all summer, and I’ve never gotten a tick. But I also have to wear a ton of bug spray because of gnats and mosquitoes…maybe that keeps the ticks away.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I think bug spray does help with ticks. And I had practically bathed in the stuff before going to Shiloh that day. So I think the tick got on my clothes but didn’t attach himself to me. We really don’t have a lot of ticks here because it is too hot and they seem to prefer trees to cactus.
Thank you for the sweet compliment about my skirt. I bet, with all the eating I’ve done, I won’t be able to get it on now. Back to the grind stone. Thanks for coming by, sugar foot!!
curlycraftymom
I’d love to hear more about what is going on with the cracks and major pool issues, too! The pool looks so perfect to me! lol! It’s all worth it!! I hate driving in the rain, too! Sounds like you are having a lot of amazing family time… June really did go by so fast. I kind of hate once we get past July 4th, because the rest of the summer always goes so quickly.

I know what you mean about the summer going downhill after the 4th. Walmart has their back to school stuff out (and Christmas). Just not ready yet. I need another June. Will write a pool post in the near future. XO
Tamara R / My Retirement Project
What was in the water in June that so many of us had crazy weild/busy months!?! Here’s to hoping for a much calmer July!
Love your love for your family; it makes my heart happy to read. And it helps to know that there are other Grandmas beside just me that miss their grandbabies due to not being as geographically close as we might wish. 😕
And a big fat ‘dislike!’ to whatever issues with your pool you are dealing with. I’m sure it will all be resolved in time, but still, so darn stressful to go through! Hugs to you in the meantime.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Tamara, I needed your sweet hug today. Thank you. We are still struggling with the pool. Will write up a post in the very near future. After a few stiff drinks.
I am so glad to have found you and the other grandmas in our little posse. There is nothing like a mother’s love for her child but the same can be said of a grandmother’s love for her grandbaby. Do you Skype and Facetime with your grand often?
Am thinking of putting together a post or blog hop for grandmas featuring what we have learned from our grands. Please let me know if you’d be interested and if you have any ideas for such a thing.
Hugs right back to you, dear one.
Natalie
Such a busy month of June for you. I hope the pool issues, the Bloody Mary stains, the laptop troubles will all be resolved soon for you. It’s challenging to juggle many balls all at the same time but you seem to handle it well with your sense of humor intact. You looked great in the white blouse and midi skirt. Glad to hear you’ve been able to do more regular swimming. Here’s to hoping for a more relaxing and happy July!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thanks, Natalie! The Bloody Mary stains and laptop troubles had relatively easy resolutions. The pool issues, not so much. But I am not giving up on getting things fixed.
Thank you for mentioning that I am handling things well and with a sense of humor. Writing here helps. I can be a bit grumpy with PC, who gets the brunt of my grumblings. We are thinking of going to church tomorrow so might try to squeeze into my skirt again. Or not. Thank you!
July is already proving to be more relaxing…I think relaxful should be a word. Thank you for stopping by and playing along with us!!
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
Boo for so many crack in your new deck! They’re going to fix it right! That is a bummer. Did you ever get those stains out, so sad…I”m sure you can get them out! Thank you for getting the word on on this and keep this link up a success! I love it!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
We are fighting with the pool people now. And have been. Their fix has been to slap some off-colored paint on the deck. Voila. But the cracks return. We think the soil erosion underneath the deck has caused the deck to crack all the way through over and over. I am just sick. SICK!!! And having to drink wine to relax. Terrible!
Did get my Converse clean. Toothbrush and toothpaste! Didn’t have access to anything else as we were out of town and staying in billeting at Ft. Campbell Army Base. But that worked.
I am so glad SaD has taken off. Making new friends and cherishing the old ones. So glad to stay in touch with you. I felt so lost but am feeling better through link-ups like this and bucket list. Won’t you join us for fall bucket list, 9/21?
jodie filogomo
Girl—there is never a time, you don’t make me laugh while I’m reading your posts!!
I could comment on almost everything–the tea towels around your ankles?? Hilarious!!
And the pool?? Such a bummer—trust me, if you move out here to Denver, you don’t need a pool. Problem solved!!!
But seriously…we have to meet up sometime!! You are a dear!!
And thanks for the shout out! I don’t know what I said last time that got so many people excited—because it didn’t happen so far this time, LOL!!

Thank you, Jodie for making me smile with your comments. If this pool gig doesn’t get fixed, we might look at cementing the whole thing in and moving somewhere cooler! Ha! Right now we couldn’t afford the concrete!
So glad to have all your friends joining up with us for SaD. Perhaps this number is perfect. We can truly get to know one another this way.

Hi Leslie,
I am sorry about your pool troubles. I hope it will be sorted out quickly. And all the Afghan food looks so yummy. I wish I could taste.

The Afghan food was delicious. All new to me. But similar to the Mexican food that is so prevalent in El Paso. Enjoyed every morsel.
Thank you so much for joining us for this series. Glad to have you on board!
Debbie Harris
Hi Leslie, great to finally join in with this sentence a day challenge. I loved reading about your month but especially the tea towels around your ankles!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay, YOU!!! Thrilled to have you and some of the other new gals joining our fun. Hope you will consider joining the bucket list series, too.
I absolutely freeze in AC. So now that we can’t afford to run ours any more because apparently the pool is a money pit…I am actually more comfortable in my own house. We are having days and days 15+ of triple digits…with a week’s worth coming next week. We’ll see how I do.
Thank you for coming by, reading and commenting. XO
Jo Tracey
What a month you’ve had. This was my first sentence a day (thanks for welcoming me) & it was fun & easy…it won’t be my last.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay, YOU!! Glad you are already planning to do more Sentence a Day posts. They are fun, easy and popular. Invite your friends to join us! We are glad you are here.
Sue from Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond
I love the energy you have Leslie and all your photos show that. It must be hard not being near your grandbabies – mine is only 10 minutes away. Thanks for introducing me to sentence-a-day I just love it and reading what everyone got up to. Have a great July!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Sweet friend, I read and reread your comments and then went back to look at my photos for evidence of my energy. I love that comment!!! Not sure what you see but love that you see it in me.
I hate not being a part of more everyday life with my grandbabies. Just lunch out. Or an afternoon at the park. We try so hard to cram so much into our visits. But it is the day-to-day things that are most important. Singing lullabies. Making crafts together. Or cookies. I envy your ten minute distance from your baby.
So glad you are enjoying SaD. Hope you will continue to play. Also, let me know your ideas on what my grandbaby taught me. Maybe we can chat online and decide how best to work that post? XO
Rebecca Jo
I’m impressed how many linked up this month. Crazy!!!
I love the converrse. Been wanting a pair myself. I think I need to drown my sorrows in getting a pair too 😉
Leslie Roberts Clingan
We are growing and isn’t it great!!!
Get the Converse at DSW. Wait til they have free shipping and sometimes they have $10 off. That’s how I afforded mine…only to almost ruin them. But toothpaste and a toothbrush brought them back to white. Ok, light pink.
Andrea@WellnessNotes
Wow! You’ve been busy! Glad you got some family time!
I’m so sorry about your pool saga! I read your reply to Sheila! How upsetting and scary! I hope you’ll get a satisfactory resolution…
Have a good July!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Andrea. I am soo sooo sooooo frustrated with this pool. Will write a post about it but it will probably be full of expletives. And ugly pictures.
Hope you are feeling 100% again these days.
Terri Webster Schrandt
Wait…what? You said something about being a sloth when you commented on my post? Excuse me, Leslie, but OMG, you are the busy little bee! I don’t have grandkids to dote over,…yet. and I can see how that could take some time away…but GOOD time away! Sorry to read about your PC, spilled Bloody Mary, pool deck and your history of lyme disease! I have two friends who live in Lake Tahoe who contracted it and his health has suffered as well. I am so blessed and excited to be part of the SaD group and need to go back to the link to read the rest!!
Laura
OH NOOOO! So sorry to read about your Converse and lap top getting a Bloody Mary shower. Or maybe it was a drench. I hope everything is ok with you computer. I loved reading your June recap! Have a great weekend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you so much for coming by, reading and commenting…the blog world trifecta! My Converse are in pretty good shape after taking a toothbrush and toothpaste to it that same day. Laptop is working again, hallelujah. So things are looking up!
A lot of the Sentence a Day gals have been joining in a bucket list series we are doing. We will be sharing our fall bucket lists on 9/21. Would love to have you join us!! I you are interested, holler back and I will email you the details.
Valerie
No wonder you are tired little, big sis. I’m tired reading this. Take some July rest and scrap time.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha! Thank you for reading and commenting big, no tall little sister. Hoping we can Skrype some in July.
Laura
I am SO sorry to hear about the pool! I really hope it can be fixed and you can enjoy it in that hot Texas heat this summer! And your laptop issues too! It’s never just one thing to deal with is it?!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Laura. We just sent another email to the builder about all of the issues with our pool. While we can still swim, all of the problems have just taken some of the delight from having the pool.
Laptop is back to normal. New hard drive…ka ching! Nothing is cheap any more!
Thank you for coming by and leaving a comment, sweet mommy-to-be!
Em
Oh, Leslie!
To find out that your technology problem was the result of a Bloody Mary mishap was SOOO refreshing! That’s the type of thing that I would do.
Loved reading about your travels, your girlies, and your fun adventures! Thank you so much for bringing us all together!
