Fashionistas, entrez, s’il-vous-plaît,
Come in, that is, if you can get in. With all the cobwebs and dust bunnies that have moved into my fashion haus since I broke my foot, there may not be room for both of us in there! But you don’t take up much room, and I will suck everything in so I won’t take up much room either. Entrez, amis, s’il vous plaît…
Today I want to share my Valentine’s Day outfit. Yup, I do know it’s March, almost April. Which makes me a little bit late or a whole lot early. As I am never early for anything, this is what I wanted to wear last month for Valentine’s Day date. I tried it on the other day, wishing my Prince was home to whirl me away for a romantic evening somewhere. He will be home in two weeks and maybe then I can dress up again.
Valentine’s Day Outfit in March
For months, maybe as long ago as last spring, I had wanted a tulle skirt. Seemed everyone had one but me. But I was really torn about whether grandmothers of a certain age should wear tulle. I mentioned it in my Currently, 02.2018 post, here. When, to my delight, I found one on sale at Target. For $11.99, figured I couldn’t afford not to buy that skirt.
Originally planned to wear this Eva Mendes graphic tee from New York & Co. with my skirt.
But as the winter reared it frosty head again, I decided I would need a Plan B. I found and ordered this Project Runway (what?!) metallic turtleneck at JCPenney.
And then I was stuck in my ortho shoe on Valentine’s Day, so I didn’t get dressed up after all. And I left the pieces of my wanna-be Valentine’s Day outfit draped on the dress form in my fashion haus until this week.
Valentine’s Day Outfit, Plan A
My foot was feeling better, so two days ago I tried on my tulle skirt for the first time. And my graphic tee. Paired the two with an embellished cardi in dusty pink from Target and black pumps from Kohl’s. Here is my Valentine’s Day Outfit, Plan A.
One of my 2018 winter bucket list activities was to become more comfortable using my camera. So Tuesday, I had a little fun snapping this ‘photo shoot’ (using that term loosely) using my phone as a remote for my Sony camera. Indulge me a few over the top poses! This one…what was I looking at?
And then there’s this one.
Is this tee too young for a 60 year-old grandma in love?
Valentine’s Day Outfit, Plan B
Like the weather most everywhere so far this year, our temps have been unpredictable and ever-changing. As Valentine’s Day approached and before I realized I wouldn’t be able to dress up, it seemed like I might need a cold weather option for my outfit. The lows that month varied from 31 to 55 degrees and our highs from 58 to 78 degrees.
For Plan B, I paired my tulle skirt with the metallic turtleneck, and silvery, faux fur duster from H&M. I added a gifted pearl lariat necklace and matching heart-shaped earrings.
Some pose! Looks like I am easing my body down into a running block at a track meet.
And here are a few more.
I sure like holding out my tulle skirt. Partially in hopes of covering up the cell phone I was using as a remote for my camera! Partially because wearing tulle made me feel like a ballerina or a little girl playing dress up.
Yeah, maybe the turtleneck is more fitting, more age appropriate. But not quite as fun. What do you think?
Your Turn
I’m sure ready for my PC to get his booty home to me. We have never been apart this long. But I’m so grateful for the technology that allows us to see each other, though. That’s made such a difference. Looking forward to being at home doing everyday things together and looking forward to having some date nights, too.
Do you have a tulle skirt? Was I the last gal on the planet to get one? Should grandmas wear graphics? Tulle? Please leave me a comment with your thoughts. I am not totally comfortable at the thought of wearing this outfit but would like to give it a go in public! Be sure to stop by to visit my fashionista friends Laura at I Do DeClaire, Carrie at Curly, Crafty Mom and Jennie at A Pocketful of Polka Dots.
Going to leave you with a couple of parting shots. One taken somehow while I was trying to figure the whole phone remote program for my camera.
The other is one you might have seen on Instagram. I was walking out of my fashion haus, closing things up til next time and took this photo in my skinny mirror. Oh, how I love that mirror.
It was good getting dressed up and feeling fancy for a change, after weeks in tennies and sweats. Want to try to open my fashion haus again soon, before the spiders and dust bunnies call it theirs for good.
Thank you for playing dress up with me.
Hugs and kisses,
Em
Fun, fun, fun!
I think you rock that Eva Mendez shirt with your outfit. It isn’t something I would’ve picked, but once I saw it on you…it was THE thing!
Congratulations on not being the last person to own a tulle skirt. I guess that would be ME.
The whole smash, all options: 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love your haircut, too!
When PC does return, you’ll be ready. 😘

Thank you so much, lady bug! Have been at a conference for a week and away from my regular blog-reading and commenting schedule so late replying to comments. You say the nicest things and always make my day.
We are down to 7 days or sleeps and a flight and my PC will be home. I am still out of town myself and have a bunch of things to finish once I get home so will need to take my vitamins and dive right in.
Thank you for the thumbs up on my post-VD outfit. I need to put the Eva Mendes tee on and wear it like a confident grandma. The tulle made me feel feminine and pretty. For $11, that was a lot of bang for my buck.
Hope spring has sprung at your house. You are always like a spring breeze to me. Big hugs!

Love the outfits. You’re not 60 yet, but you’ll sure make it look good.
I also love the photo behind you. I hadn’t seen the larger version.

Thank you so much, lady bug! Have been at a conference for a week and away from my regular blog-reading and commenting schedule so late replying to comments. I am officially 60 today! YIKES. But woke up and could still walk to the toilet, and remember my name, and knew where I was, so I am blessed and not much changed from yesterday.
Brennyn gave me that canvas of our Cady Coo. While her mermaid tail was beautiful in color, the B&W turned out so well.
Love you, lil sis! XO

Oooo I love the graphic t with the tulle skirt. You definitely can wear that outfit. I think your Prince will love taking you out in That outfit when he returns.

Hey, sweets, thank you! Have been out of town for a week and out of the loop so late replying to comments. We have 7 nights/sleeps and a wake up til PC is home. I am still out of town, too, for that matter. Ha! Need to get this booty home and get my house in order, pronto.
Hope you enjoyed your visit to the farm. I am waaaay behind on Insta and FB and blog reading but slowly going to catch up. Hope you were able to spend some time with the cows and new calves. Saw a small herd on a pasture near my daughter’s home and thought of you. XO

Aww, thank you! I am out of town and have been for a week so very delinquent in replying to comments.
Thank you for the support and sweet words on my tulle skirt and tee. I need to tuck those comments away in my heart and pull them out to give me confidence when I wear this on for our date night, once PC gets home. You and the gals radiate such confidence in all of your great looks. I need to take a lesson.

Two great outfits Leslie, although my preference is for outfit A. The t-shirt is lovely, suits you, and gives the wonderful swishy skirt a cute little twist. He’s a lucky man to be taking you for your belated Valentine’s Day celebration!

Love the word ‘swishy’ -that describes my skirt to a tee. And how I loved twirling about and feeling feminine in it. I need to emulate your confidence when I put this on for date night. You always look so self-assured in all of your pretty looks. Now to just get PC home. Seven sleeps and a wake up!

What a fabulous outfit. Of course, I’m partial to the tulle skirt with the graphic tee. It’s such a fun look. And you know how I feel about that whole age appropriate thing — as long as you’re comfortable and it fits. And ya look great! And happy.
Enjoy date night when your guy gets home.

Hey, sweets, thank you! Have been out of town for a week and out of the loop so late replying to comments.
I think everyone prefers the graphic tee with my VD tulle skirt over the metallic turtleneck. I am going to have to emulate the radiant confidence of all of my fashionista friends, and wear it! Thank you so much for the sweet support and kind comments. Now to get home – at the Texas Library Association Conference in Dallas this week – and get my man home! Ready to get a good hug from him. XO
Jennie
Goodness, you look so pretty! I just love the sparkly hemline of your tulle skirt! I enjoyed seeing both ways you style it, especially with the pink cardigan and graphic tee. I do have a black tulle skirt and you are making me want to pull it out and give it a spin soon!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you so much!! Apparently, the sparkly tee wins, hands down, over the safer turtleneck look!!! Now to get brave enough to wear it out in public! Thank you, lovey!

Thank you so much for the kind invite to linkup this Friday with you and Jennie. I am just home from a week or more of travel. Will try to plan a style post (I use the term style very loosely when talking about myself!) to joining up with you. Will stop by your blog so we can get to know one another better. Thank you!!
