Hi, gals!
Welcome to my blog’s belated happy birthday bash.
Sorry, there are no balloons, or noise-makers.
Unless you count me…I can be full of gas and make a lot noise at times.
Our actual first birthday was August 20, but that is kind of a random date, unless of course, it is YOUR birthday. Like a bad mother, I let that day come and go without recognizing it or even realizing it which brings me to today, September 1. I know in real life, you really can’t change birth-dates anymore than you can change the number of birthdays you are celebrating but in the blog world, or at least my blog world, I can! And I proclaim today as not only what should be the first day of fall but also the birth-date for Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After.
Happy first birthday to you.
To me?
To US!
Not sure what else to write here. I was up all night thinking about my blog and the direction I want to move in. I had decided several months ago, that if Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After was still around at the one year mark, I would investigate how to pursue affiliates or sponsors for my blog.
But a couple of big time bloggers I follow have really jumped into the affiliates business with both feet and in my opinion, they have kind of gobbed up their blogs. Probably gobbed them up with all these ads while raking in the money, though.
I find their pop-up banners and side bar ads to be a huge distraction in the readability of their posts. On the other hand, I am kinda easily distracted on my best day. So, that could just be me.
Along about 3:00 am, though, it occurred to me that I didn’t start blogging to make money. Haven’t ever made a lot of money in my life, why start now? And while prospective affiliates and sponsors haven’t been exactly blowin’ my door down (Did you catch that Goldilocks reference?) with offers, I have had offers to do posts for a couple of companies.
One, Warby Parker @https://www.warbyparker.com/.

Glasses.
Hmm.
I don’t even wear glasses.
Well, only to drive.
I did do the post (read it here if you dare) and never heard anything more from them.
Impressed them that much, I did!
Received the other offer as recently as last week from a men’s underwear brand. Tommy John @https://www.tommyjohn.com/.

Men’s underwear?
Not sure what about my blog speaks to folks buying men’s underwear. However, these are green, always a plus. And feature a handsome, manly pattern. They probably provide good comfort and shape.
I received an email from a very nice gentleman from Tommy John saying:
We’d love for you to create a post on your blog sharing some of your favorite male and female fall fashion trends/pieces while including the undergarments that work best. Most men aren’t aware that when picking out underwear there are things to keep in mind such as, boxers don’t work with skinny jeans or a fitted brief works best under a linen suite. You can make the post your own using items from your favorite brands to create his and her mood board. With your help men will be able to dress to impress while feeling comfortable at the same time. I’m sure your readers (men and women) would appreciate your expertise.
Huh.
Not sure I am the right gal or this is the right blog for helping men shop for underwear.
Am I missing something?
I am honored that anyone would seek my (questionable) expertise (I use that word lightly) on anything. But I am having trouble associating Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After with boxers and bifocals.
With that being said, I am going to hold off on energetically seeking sponsors and affiliates. Heck, who wants to make money and be rich anyway? You read about all of those lottery winners who just hate life once they are rolling in the dough.
Why go there?
Why torture myself like that.
Through my posts and friendships I have created here on Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After, I’ve discovered a new appreciation for my wonderful life.
Money might spoil that.
Truly.
So, if it’s ok with you, I am going to stay small, and unimportant, and uncommercialized for now.
That could change if the Brothers Grimm, Barnes and Noble or Loft come calling.
But probably not likely in the next day or two.
Now, make a wish and help me blow out the candles.
Hugs and kisses,
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
So I admit I read this first then read your currently post. So part of the funny came from reading this first then the other one. Love you! Happy birthday to your blog!

I love you, too!!! I think the world of you, with your warm smile, your loving family, your great blog documenting your rich, well-lived life. Crazy that I did a currently post and never thought of my blog’s birthday!! Ha! Thank you for your sweet birthday wishes.

Happy Blogbirthday! I love how you write and I think whatever you do, people will read it regardless because it’s still your voice.

Happy blog-versary! I have been blogging since 2008, isn’t that CRAZY? Blogging has changed SO much since then. SO MUCH. And, I had to laugh about the mens undies. LOL. Ok, sorry… just laughed again. 🙂 You’re too funny, love your blog!

LOL, I had to laugh too. Not sure how a blog entitled Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After sounds like a place where men would read posts about selecting the proper underwear. Really? Probably should have done the post because I may never get asked to sponsor or affiliate or review anything ever again. Thank you for always making my heart smile with your kind comments. XO

Ok, I had to laugh. Because I was approached by Bonobos to do a post (which I did. I was flattered. Thought I was hitting the big time. Ha!) a few weeks ago I was asked to do a post on how to style underwear as outerwear. Ummm. No thank you.
Happy belated blogoversary!

Wow, I think met a guy at 8 minute dating who probably wore underwear as outerwear, just not on that particular evening. He did share a picture of himself in a women’s bikini. That was a long 8 minutes. Glad I am not the only one who has been approached to blog about men’s clothing. I am in good company!
