World Through My Lens 01.2025
The first part of January, I was snapping pictures left and right…just none of them fit any of the challenge prompts. Then I slowed down on picture taking when we had a cold snap. Now that we are well into February, I have still not gotten back to proper photo taking. The weather had been beautiful, I just haven’t taken time to capture the world around me. Hope to get back at it this week.
Everyday Images #53
doorway (quarterly): I always share an updated picture of a doorway around my house for this prompt. And thought I had taken oodles of photos of my winter front door decor but can’t seem to find them. This photo of Declan and his cousin Amara is cuter than any ole decorations anyway.
letters: on my message board. I love putting new messages up on a regular basis. And have a Pinterest board just to collect message board ideas. Are we friends on Pinterest, yet?
chill: a pre-Super Bowl soak in the hot tub and a glass of peach Moscato. Chillin’.
hidden: inside the car wash, my Rogue was hidden behind sudsy fringe.
plans: for Valentine’s Day.
Everyday Images #54
blanket: Purrcival and Purrsnickitty have his and hers beds and blankets. This is our little fella in his favorite bed with his favorite blanket on a bench right outside our bedroom door.
moon: bright and almost full. But I really like the way the flag is blowing in our up to 60 mph gusts at the top corner. It almost stole the moon’s thunder.
square: took a picture of this framed message in the faculty bathroom at Colin Powell Elementary because I liked the sentiment. Reminds me of an Anne Frank quote that reads: “You can always give something, even if it is only kindness.” Looking through my recent photos, I realized the picture satisfied this prompt.
logo: kind of a made up logo but so clever!! And isn’t that a flattering reflection of me?
at home (monthly): finally feeling confident enough of my footing to put the throw rugs back down in the kitchen.
on my plate (quarterly): Chipotle for the win. Although I eat mutliple times a day, I have had trouble remembering to take a picture of what’s on my plate before diving in.
Sunday Stills
01.05.2025 year in review, 2024, continues: see my post, here
01.12.2025 monthly color two-week challenge: white: my Cami Jean on her birthday, in a party dress with a white lace bodice, unwrapping a white snuggle bunny and a book featuring the same little creature written just for her.
01.19.2025 monthly color two-week challenge: white: Lucia, dressed in white for baby sister’s birthday.
01.26.2025-02.02.2025: two-week challenge: feed the birds: tried to zoom in as much as a phone camera can to capture the pretty birds enjoying dinner on my bird feeder. But they are hard to make out. We never have ‘pretty’ birds but I have seen a few semi-colorful birds late this winter. Now to photograph them!
Your Turn
What have you captured lately in your lens? Are you moving from winter to spring or summer to fall in the hemisphere where you live? We have had spring temps for 2 weeks. And then today it was 59* – about 15* cooler than it has been – and I about froze!! Spoiled, much?
Thank you for spending some of your busy day here with me. Hope you will join me in visiting Kym at A Fresh Up of Coffee and Terri at Second Wind Leisure Perspectives to check the images they’ve captured for these photo challenges.
Make it a great week!!
Hugs and kisses,

What a darling cat you have! I love ours. Have a great start of the week.
Thank you. We have 2 pretty kitties but Purrcy has been the subject of more photos lately because of his surgery. Hope you are staying well and warm.
It is cold again in Alabama! We had fake spring last week and this week, it will be in the teens at night.
Fake spring!! I love it. We had one, too. Actually 2 weeks of springy weather and then it turned coolish again. Tonight is going to be the coolest night in several weeks. But back to 85* next week. And all the trees are budding. Yuck, the teens at night is too cold, even for mid-winter. Bundle up, girl!!
Leslie, I always enjoy seeing the world through your lens. Even if the weather (or life) slows down your picture-taking, your reflections and storytelling bring everything to life. Love the sweet moment captured with Declan and Amara—sometimes the best photos are the unexpected ones. Looking forward to seeing more of your everyday images.
Thank you, Donna. Declan and Amara are always a little timid when they first see each other but they become fast friends pretty quickly. Amara is 5 months younger than Dec but keeps up with him in everyway. They are such fun.
We are seeing signs of spring everywhere and I am grabbing the camera some each day. Here comes spring!! Possibly the best photo taking season.
Oh I love that doorway picture. Somany great pictures. Lucia looks beautiful.
Wow! That hidden photo is fabulous! I love the ones you came up with for chill and white too.
Thank you, sweet one. I love taking car wash photos!! And of course, love my granddaughters in any color but they seem to wear white especially well.
Wonderful images all around, Leslie! Love the Moscato glasses! So your granddaughters have back-to-back birthdays? That must be fun. They are beautiful! My daughters were born 3 years apart near the end of January!
Thank you!! My granddaughters’ bdays are separated by 3 months. But they get presents on each other’s birthdays so they have a happy un-birthday, too, like Alice in Wonderland. My daughters are one day and 2 years apart. How fun that your babies share the same birthday day!!
I think you are good at capturing your life with your camera! I don’t do enough of that. The photos of Cami and Lucia are just beautiful (and Declan is handsome though we can’t see his face in that photo). I love Chipotle, but Mike prefers Taco Bell (can you believe it). My photo roll doesn’t have much on it other than blog photos!

What is wrong with our guys liking Taco Bell so much. Grrr. PC is a creature of habit. TB and McDs. Yikes.
Thank you for the sweet compliments about my babies. I am a little bit partial but think they are all easy on the eyes.
You need a bird feeder cam!!!
I love Cami Jean’s and Lucia’s dresses! Looks like it was a fun birthday party!
Nice touch with the falling roses!
My sissy has a bird feeder cam and it is the BEST. I wonder if I would be surprised to see that we have more than pigeons here after all!! Might ask for one for my bday. Thank you for the suggestion. Big hugs to you, love.
I love the carwash photo.
Lovely to view your world and see your words too!
Leslie,
Thanks so much for stopping by!! All great pictures!! I posted about finishing January and how I did with my monthly goals…I may not do so well in February but there is always March!! Glad you liked the sled on my porch…It is my childhood sled…the one that I went sled riding on all the time as a kid in the Winters here in NEPA!! I hope you are having a great week!!
Hugs,
Deb
