Dearest readers and watchers and listeners, thanks for popping in to pick up the prompt for August’s 10 on the 10th post. On Monday, 08.10.2020, we will be sharing our 10 favorite books, movies, podcasts and TV shows. If you are new to the 10 on the 10th series, please check out last month’s edition, here.
When I created the year’s list of prompts, Covid was better known as corona virus and was limited to China. Eight months later, I think we have all experienced some kind of mandatory or self-imposed stay-at-home restrictions. And, if you are like me, that has looked a lot different from normal life. Happily, I’ve done more reading, writing, listening and watching. But I’ve also done a lot more nibbling and lounging about.
10 Favorite Books, Movies, Podcasts and TV Shows
Don’t know about you, but ‘what I’m reading’ posts are among my favorites. I am always on the look out for my next good book. And next movie, podcast and TV show. Right now I am enjoying and nodding in total agreement with Jen Hatmaker as I listen to her book Fierce, Free, and Full of Fire: The Guide to Being Glorious You. Would never have discovered this book on my own, so I have bloggers I follow to thank for reviewing it and piquing my interest with their posts.
Because of blogger reviews, we are watching “Anne with an E” on Netflix. Thanks to those who recommended it. We have finished season 1 and are well into season 2. Sad to read, in researching more about the series for this post, that season 3 which wrapped in November was its last. So we will be needing a new series to watch, girls.
We are struggling to find TV shows worth watching so I will be anxious to read your suggestions, either in a comment or a linked up blog post here next week. Same with podcasts. I can’t figure out when to listen to podcasts…it seems my only available time is between midnight and 3:00 am. When do you guys listen and what are you listening to? Please share next week.
Your Turn
This is your invitation to join me for August’s 10 on the 10th next Monday. That gives you a week to put together your list of favorite books, movies, podcasts and TV shows. Consider this a mission of mercy! Your suggestions might keep me from climbing the walls over here!! And the suggestions of others might brighten your stay-at-home time. Thank goodness, we don’t have to wear mask to read, watch and listen.
Have a fabulous first week of August, my friends. This will be a busy week on the blog, so I hope you will stop back by! Thank you for joining me today.
Hugs and kisses,
Donna Connolly
I look forward to reading your 10 on the 10th. See you there!

Come join me on the 10th!!
Erica/Erika
You are right, Leslie “….a lot different from normal life.” I also enjoy the “what I’m reading” posts. I have heard about “Anne with an E” and with your recommendation, I have put it on our watch list. Thank you for sharing a fun post and I will stay tuned. Just finished watching “Broadchurch.” Just began watching “Outlander.” Take care, Beautiful Leslie!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Erica for suggesting “Broadchurch” and “Outlander”. I have heard of the latter but not the former. Will check them out. “Anne with an E” is refreshing.
Nancy
I have three new books on my e reader. I Just started with Karen Slaughter, one of my favorite writers!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Please come back on the 10th to share the titles of the books you have on your e-reader. I am always looking for
good suggestions.

If you are looking for something to watch on your own, I really enjoyed ‘Dead to Me’ but it wasn’t something my husband would have enjoyed. It had me laughing out loud at times, but it did involve some dark humour. Another girly one was Chesapeake Shores, I think I just wanted to move into that community! And Virgin River. But those are all aimed at women viewers I think!
Two series we both watched were Cardinal, (but if you don’t enjoy detectives investigating murders you wouldn’t like it!) and Mrs America. That has been interesting to watch, seeing both sides of the Equal Rights Act in the US from two very different perspectives. I didn’t realise that some states over there still hadn’t ratified the act until very recently. I’m going to be interested to see what other people recommend for you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I need to check out “Dead to Me”. Thinking PC would like Cardinal as would I. And Mrs. America sounds thought-provoking. Always glad to have new shows to investigate.

I’m working on finishing up my 10 on the 10th post this morning!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay!!! Can’t wait to read your suggestions.

I love the graphics you make for these! I’m sure I’ve done this topic a ton of times, but always happy to share again.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Please do share your faves. I always take away great books from your blog posts.

Can’t wait to link up with you next week! I have the post part way prepped already. 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay, you!! Glad to have you join me.

Such a fun prompt – I’m going to have to join in.
Yep – both of those – that book & that show – 2 of my favorites.
I so need Anne with an E to do one more season <3 I love Anne of Green Gables
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I heard the Anne with an E is not scheduled to continue. I hope I heard wrong. Boo!!

I’ve heard great things about Jen Hatmkaer but never read any of her books yet! 🙂 I can’t find time for podcasts – during the day I’m with the kids and at night I’m trying to do a little for myself or catch up with cleaning that didn’t get done during the day, haha! i prefer reading over listening so podcasts aren’t for me!
Hope that your week is off to a good start! 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for admitting that you can’t find time for podcasts. Me either!! I turn them on and then get busy doing something and realize I haven’t paid a lick of attention to whatever it was I was listening to. And when I do have time to listen – like in the car – I want to ‘read’ a book!!
I really took a lot away from Jen Hatmaker’s book. Highly recommend it!
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
This is a good one, I love all of these 🙂 and, I’m always looking for new podcasts.

Hi Leslie!
I am an avid Acorn watcher, so I love the English Mysteries. Midsommer Murders is a great , campy English mystery show that has been running for 20 yrs. I am enjoying a book with twist called, Never Have I Ever , by Joshilyn Jackson.
I responsed to your other comment, and don’t know Mary ( re: the EDS) Although I left a message on her blog.
Hope you are well.

So glad you reached out to Mary (re: the EDS). Hope you can offer each other comfort and knowledge and strength.
I am not familiar with Acorn. Need to look that up. Never Have I Ever sounds intriguing. I like twists and unexpected
turns.

These are great prompts! I listen to podcasts when I go for walks and I’m always looking for ones to listen to. We just finished The Morning Show on Apple TV and Fear City on Netflix.

I want to try the Morning Show. Thanks for the reminder.
