Welcome, new friends and old!
Welcome to a day in my life. Today some of The Blended Blog gals and I are putting together this little blog hop to share a day in our lives with one another and with YOU! If you have hopped over here from Christy’s blog, I am so glad you are here. If you happen to be starting here with me, thank you! Please hop from here to the TBB where you can connect to my friends’ posts.
Let me preface this post by saying that a day in my life is nothing extraordinary or particularly memorable; it might look a whole lot like a day in anybody’s life. Nothing monumental or earth-shattering happened. Just a really nice, but very average Saturday. January 23, 2016.
Here’s how that looks.
Woke up at…
Rolled over and peeked at Mr. Charming.
Then we both pulled the covers over our heads for a few more minutes.
Reluctantly stumbled out of bed a little before ten, and dressed for the gym.
No makeup, just a little Oil of Olay on the face and hair twisted with a clip.
Stream-lined beauty plan.
Ok, just plain stream-lined.
Saturday is generally our day to skip the bed-making but because I knew you guys were going to be stopping by, I convinced PC to help me make it.
A few quiet minutes for morning devotions.
This verse from Deuteronomy spoke to me.
Deuteronomy 31:6 The Message (MSG)
6 “Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.”
Gathered a load of laundry to take downstairs.
Breakfast.
A little coffee, a little cereal, a little flavored water mixed with a whole lotta Metamucil.
Emptied the dishwasher, fed the kitties, cleaned the litter box.
(Isn’t this spell-binding stuff?)
Vitamins.
Stool softener. And yes, a stick of dynamite but didn’t snap a picture of that.
Check of email and a stop by Facebook, quick morning chat with my mom in Kentucky.
Then off to the gym-bo.
That’s PC’s Mustang. My car is an Altima. Green, of course.
Yay, Planet Fitness; $10 down, $10 a month.
No Gymtimidation.
A mile in 9:53, 2.94 miles in 30 minutes.
Ok, here’s where things get really real. We didn’t go home to shower. I know.
But we did wear deodorant.
And we drove with the windows down to blow the stink off.
Sang some Clint Black as we headed across town to drop off clothes at the consignment store.
Rounded up these pieces after a mini-closet purge and before starting the 3 month shopping ban, “Let’s Be Shop Free for 3”, with Carrie at A Lovely Little Wardrobe.
I have been very good so far!
From the consignment shop on the east side of town, we drove across town to the west side and a quick trip into Academy for ammunition for my new .38 special. My PC has been teaching me how to shoot. Scary, huh? We have enjoyed going out to the gun range and I will share pics in an upcoming post.
About now, we were getting kind of hungry.
Saturday is my “eating” day (although for the past week or so, Monday-Sunday have been eating days). We usually eat at least one meal out on Saturday and usually have ice cream before bed.
Grand China Buffet, baby.
A full-array of MSG preserved carbs.
I always start with hot and sour soup when I eat Chinese. And then I get the hiccups. Then I load up on fried- and saucy- and battered-everything all washed down with tea.
We finished up with a little fruit, some macaroons and fortune cookies. You probably know that when reading your fortune, one should always add the words IN BED to the end of the fortune.
PC’s read “Now is a good time to finish up old tasks…IN BED.”
Let the games begin!
Or end.
Here’s mine.
…IN BED.
With fortunes like those, we should have jumped in the car and hurried home. But we didn’t.
We did the next best thing…we went to Hobby Lobby.
I bought supplies to make my new year’s goals blackboard. That is going to happen this weekend. Saw this great message on piece of wall art. I am always (wonderfully? woefully?) lost. PC wasn’t feeling very good so he stayed in the car while I ran into the Hobbiest of Lobs. I ran in but then walked very slowly up and down every aisle. I kind of forgot he was in the car.
Ooops.
Time now:
Home again, home again, jiggity jig.
And yes, a shower.
A shower, in the shower…not in the washing machine. Transferred laundry from washer to dryer.
Smelling fresh as a daisy and dressed for church.
But before we head to church, a quick stop for a massage at our local technical college. Isn’t that what most people do before Saturday evening services?
Sadly, my massage therapy student-masseuse was less than fabulous. He kept saying “cool” during the massage. I am definitely not cool in my skivvies under a sheet getting a massage. Not sure what he was saying cool about. Probably the way my cellulite bunched under his hands. Or the way my lipomas (fatty tumors) rolled when he rubbed my legs. I felt kind of like a science experiment.
Church was great. Even PC commented that the service was good. And he is a tough customer…his dad is a Baptist preacher, so my Prince has heard lots and lots of sermons and is something of a connoisseur.
I was trying to get all artsy with the photo on the right for the photography challenge I am participating in, EternalCrown365. My reflection looks kind of like a headless person holding a handful of miniature people. Awesomely artsy, huh?
After church, a stop at Target for a few groceries.
Back home at:
Tired… T-A-R-D…tired.
We settled onto the couch (PC) and the loveseat (me) to check our email, hang out a bit on Facebook, and play “World of Tanks” (guess who?).
Isn’t that a great picture on my laptop screen? Thinking it would be a swell painting.
And after a very full but very average day,
back to where we started…in bed.
This is just about the way every Saturday plays out except when PC is playing baseball which ended in October and has already begun again as of last Saturday. When we figure in about four hours of baseball, we still do all the other stuff but just all-squished up into less time.
Thanks for joining me for A Day in My Life.

Hugs and kisses,
hahaah you make me laugh. This post was excellent, I giggled all the way through it.
Yay!!! Mission accomplished. I can’t post about being fashionable or a fabulous cook or how I got my beach body but I hope I can
sometimes bring a smile to my readers’ lives. Thank you for coming by! Please stop by again. XO
Agree with Leslie….good giggle..also great pictures.
Thank you! Aren’t you glad I didn’t post a pic of the application of dynamite?
you’re hilarious, driving with the window down had me laugh out loud!! too much!
I LOVE chinese food!! soooo good!
you had quite the busy day and I love how smiley you are the whole time!
Confessions of a Frumpy Mommy
Truly, my PC would have taken me for a movie after Target if we hadn’t bought milk. And there have been times that even with milk in the car, it won’t warm up THAT fast in two hours and thirty minutes, so we do go for a movie. He loves to run…as in run from this store to that one, the mall, the outlet shops, sporting good stores. Whew.
Your comments are always near and dear. XO
I seriously love your writing. And the OCD in my wanted you to just run .06 more miles! Just make it even darn it! and LOL that you forgot he was in the car, I totally would have done the same! 🙂 So happy we all did this, was fun looking into everyone’s day.
Great post leslie! I recognize planet fitness from the biggest loser. We don’t have those in Canada. Don’t feel bad about not showering, I go to the gym everyday at lunch and slap on some deodorant before returning to the office. All good!
I always love these posts and I think I’ve only done one of them once… and, it was when I was working and it was a pretty boring post since I used to hang out in a cube ALL day long. Your day had Hobby Lobby in it, so I think it was pretty awesome!!! I would not want to hear ‘cool’ all the time during a massage… NO way! I really need to do one of these posts again soon. They are just so much work, lots of photos and remembering to take photos! lol!

Hey!! Let’s do one together. You, me, Jill. Anyone else you want to add. It was fun. Easy actually. Think about it and let me know. Weekday or weekend.
Gurl, you make me LAUGH!! I loved tagging along with you on your Saturday! Maybe PC wasn’t feeling well because of the Chinese buffet?! Lol!
The MSG on buffets really does bug my PC. We have sworn off Golden Corral (the golden trough) because of it. Glad you came by to share my Saturday.
Whew, I got exhausted just reading about your day! You always make me laugh, and I needed that today, so thank you. You and your hubby have such a wonderful relationship – your happiness just shines through. Wish I had a good consignment shop to bring clothes to – nothing in the area.
Your sweet comment about PC and me couldn’t have come at a better time. We have had some struggles but I think
we are about to come out of the darkness. Thank goodness. I would love to own a consignment shop nearer my home
if the economy and world were better right now. So glad I could bring you a little laughter.
Massage before church…how delightful is that. Love!
Oh my… you crack me up! You are too funny. Loved reading about your day and all your fun commentary.
