Hold on, friends…this is going to be quick.
Today I am linking up with my Style Me blogger buds to tour one anothers’ homes all decked out for the holidays. I truly just got everything up yesterday. Paul has some sad memories of Christmases past so he doesn’t get into the hub-bub of the holiday, although he keeps the reason for the season close to his heart. I nagged him about helping me decorate until I realized I was being a bit unkind in doing so.
I need to remember next year to just quietly do it it myself.
This is my house. Note that something is missing.
*S*N*O*W*
I took this picture early in the spring, I think and didn’t realize how it looked until later. I like to think that God is pouring His blessings into our home and covering us with the light of His love. That is probably even better than snow.
This is my front door. My wreath just arrived last night from a little shop on Etsy called ClancyArt. Love it! Will be getting a little flameless tea candle for the wreath today when I get out and about.
My tree is right inside the door. Actually left inside the door. And while I don’t have a sweet baby mini-me singing to my tree like Shaunacey at Confessions of a Frumpy Mommy, I do have two pretty cute kitties who are quite taken with the tree. Purrsnickitty and Purrsimmony have been on their very best behavior in regards to the ornaments on the tree. They must know Santa is making his list.
The rest of my photos are pictures of a little decor I have sprinkled about. Above the kitchen cabinets, on my sofa table that is not behind my sofa. On my little buffet. On my mantel.
Oh, and there is one special piece on my kitchen table.
A menorah from my daughter Lauren.
We aren’t Jewish, in fact, Paul is a Baptist preacher’s son. But I have always had a special place in my heart for the Jewish people. Their struggles and their incredible faith and determination.
And I might just have been Anne Frank in a former life. We will leave that to another post.
I was not raised in a religious family and rarely went to church as a child. When I was in elementary school, we lived near a large Catholic church and could hear its chime from our home. I have downloaded the Jacquie Lawson Big Ben widget on my laptop so I can hear that same chime as I work on my blog.
When I was in high school and my freshman year of college, my mom and sister and I would go to the Christmas Eve service at the Church on the River (Mississippi) in Memphis, Tennessee. Those services were always beautiful and what better place to worship than sitting in front of a huge window overlooking the river.
I am more spiritual than I have ever been now that I am almost all grown up. And I hope that in the hustle and bustle of present shopping, buying and wrapping, I can always keep the reason for the season in mind.
So there is my little tour.
Please stop by the blogs of my Style Me blogger friends to see how they have prepared their homes for the holidays.

So pretty – your home is just lovely. I love your nativity set, and I see that you still have baby Jesus, unlike me :)! I have become more spiritual as I’ve gotten older too. Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you for your compliments on my home. It is really just home. Nothing fancy.
Wonder where your baby Jesus has disappeared to? Do you really think the dog ate Him? I know it is the tradition here in El Paso among the Mexican-Americans to bake a rosca de reyes or wreath of bread with the baby Jesus baked inside the dough. Whoever finds the baby in his piece of bread has to host the Christmas dinner or Three Kings dinner the following year. Maybe someone has your baby baked in a bread!
Shaunacey
your home is gorgeous!!! I’ll share some real snow with you 😉

Thank you for the sweet compliments, Shaunacey. And I will take some snow any time!!

We need to do a home swap for a weekend so I can play in the snow and you can warm up. Merry Christmas, Katie!

If we get any snow before you do, I’ll be happy to
send you mine! 🙂 No white Christmas here though. It’s suppose to be 60 by Thursday.
I had forgotten about the Church on the River! Wonder if it’s still going strong?

We are getting a cold front tomorrow and then warming back up to the 60s on Christmas, too. If we just have a little snow in January, I will be happy. I loved the Church on the River because the messages were so universal and inspirational and the setting was amazing. I think the church is still going but not positive. So sad that I don’t have a reason to go back to Memphis anymore after all those years of calling it home. Love you!
