Hello, fashionistas!
Thanks for joining me for another edition of The Blended Blog‘s “Summer Style” series. When I got dressed to run errands today, I had every intention of putting together a put-together outfit. I planned to intentionally use a combination of the descriptors in the “Summer Style” graphic. Also known as these little cuties right here.
What I actually put together was more like an accidental clown costume. Nothing planned or intentional going on at all!
I started with a lemony-lime green tee from Loft Outlet. Every great outfit begins with something green. Threw on a pair of Old Navy cropped boyfriend jeans that I carefully cuffed ever-so-unevenly. Going for that casual-chic effect.
Grabbed a Merona navy and white patterned cardigan because even though our afternoon temps are in the triple digits, I still get cold. And then I get really, really hot.
I thought my Kohl’s mossy green shell and stone earrings were just what I needed to complete the look. But I was wrong. Something was missing. That pop of color.
My friend Martha hosted a “Hobbies for the Cure” event recently and gave all of the participants a breast cancer goody bag. Poorly worded sentence. Not a goody bag full of breast cancer but a goody bag full of cancer prevention goodies. Well, that’s not right either. The goodies themselves don’t prevent cancer but promote cancer awareness. Let’s try this again.
My friend Martha hosted a “Hobbies for the Cure” event recently and gave all of the participants a goody bag full of items promoting breast cancer awareness. Where was I going with this? Oh, pop of color. Yes, in the goody bag was the cutest hot pink bandana that says “The Hospitals of Providence”.
I rolled that baby up so that the wording was hidden and tied it around my neck. And my clown outfit was complete. I couldn’t decide between my gray Chuck Taylors or my DSW black gladiator sandals or my huge red clown shoes. Went with the gladiators because everyone knows you shouldn’t wear pink with red. My Prince really doesn’t get gladiators at all. But he wasn’t going to see me in this get up. Thank goodness because he also doesn’t understand wearing a scarf and cardi in the summer.
Ready for the reveal?
Just call me Bozo.

Yeah, good call on the gladiators. The red clown shoes would have been too much.
Here’s a close up of my Providence Hospital bandana.
I like the way it hides my double chin and crepe-y neck. Not to mention my neck scar. I might need a few more of these.
Finally, here is the whole ensemble. I think this navy cardi is the pièce de résistance, if you will. How ’bout you?
How do you like that unfussy cuff-job. Cuffed ’em with my eyes closed. And I think I took these pictures with my eyes closed, too. Cause I walked all over El Paso today with them uneven as can be. Never noticed.
So, let’s revisit those descriptors. Scroll with me back to the top of this post. Which descriptors did I use?
Fuschia + fun print + scarf = almost
Green + monochromatic + tee shirt = thinking that’s not what they meant by monochromatic because this outfit certainly isn’t that
Navy + striped + tunic (not an exact synonym for cardigan) = cardigan isn’t on here for a reason – it’s summer
Looks like this outfit is a bust. I flunked The Blended Blog‘s “Summer Style” series this week. But be sure to check out some of the looks of the other gals who hit it out of the ball park. Enjoy your Thursday!

I’ve been toying with that scarf idea…I really want a little one to tie around my neck like that. Great colours!
Andrea@WellnessNotes
Well, I don’t think you flunked at all! The pink bandana looks great with the green tee! And the jeans are super cute, too. Who cares that they may not be exactly even? Not me! 🙂 Cute sandals, too!
I hope you’ll decide to get some more bandanas; I always love to bring more people onto the bandana bandwagon! 😉

I love your outlook. You made me feel better about my uneven cuffs! I would love to get some more bandanas. I think they would be perfect for fall. Where do you get yours? This one was a little stiff…maybe it will loosen up after a wash?
Thank you for lifting me up!
Mary
Cute as a button! Love the scarf with it.

I don’t think it was a flunk. I like the pop of pink and gladiator sandals I love them, they just don’t like me…boo!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Sarah. Actually, my gladiators are really comfy. Just wish PC didn’t make a face when I wear them.
Laura
You are too hard on yourself! I like the pink, green and navy together!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha! You sweetie. Even though this outfit was like Joseph’s technicolor dream coat, I felt like myself wearing it.
Alison @ Puppies & Pretties
I do like the tied scarf at the neck. So what if the outfit doesn’t quite go, now you know!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I think even though it didn’t all go together…it was me!!
Lana
Well, I think this outfit looks great. You didn’t flunk at all! Pretty colors, pretty lady!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, lady. How are you holding up?
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
I really love the scarf, I have been seeing a lot of bloggers do this and I like that it’s simple and shorter for the hot humid weather we are having now. I also like that green color on you!

Thank you, Carrie. Green is my color and I think this shade is my fav. On the look out for more bandanas.
