And before I show off my little number for today, let’s take a look at the recap from last week’s navy and nautical stripes prompt.  Or was that nautical stripes and navy?  I went with cobalt blue so didn’t really follow the prompt. Ever the rebel.

TBB: styling a dress
I’ve gots ta say, I love these gals.  They are all as intelligent, creative, sweet and kind as they are stylish.  And I am thankful to be in their company week in and week out.

The dress I am sharing today is one that I saw on someone else’s blog but sadly I can’t remember whose blog it was.  It is in my favorite color…let’s all say it together, GREEN.  GREEN.  GREEN.

TBB: styling a dress
My GREEN shirt dress is from TopShop.  The kimono or shawl is one I saw and drooled over while shopping with my sister at the most enormous Charming Charlie’s during one of my recent trips to Houston.  And guess what? That same sister bought it for my birthday.  Isn’t she sweet?  And she bought the pendant and matching earrings, too.  I love that girl!  Not sure where the belt came from.  It was in my in my closet.  Ha!  Never know what I am going to find in there.  My purse is a recent clearance purchase from my Charming Charlie’s here at home.  And my peep-toe pumps are Unisa from DSW.

I think these colors are so lush.  So rainforest.  So rainbow sherbet.  Cantaloupe.  Watermelon.  Avocado.  I’m hungry.

Over the long weekend, my PC swept me off on his steed, make that in his Mustang, for an overnight stay in Las Cruces, New Mexico – about 30  miles from El Paso.  He had the whole trip planned  (I love it!):  arrive for early check-in at Staybridge Suites, go to our favorite Kohl’s, sit by the pool, go to dinner, walk around the mall…sleep late the next morning, eat breakfast, go to the wine fest and drive home.  I took this outfit to wear to dinner.  But started feeling kind of sickly shortly after we checked into the hotel.  We took a two-hour nap, which was not on our agenda but helped me feel better.   We had dinner at Olive Garden and were as full as ticks, walking around the mall afterward.  Here I am pre-dinner, before the buttons on my dress were stretched to popping.

TBB: styling a dress
So good of the folk at Staybridge Suites to have green carpeting with a bone colored stripe that accented my outfit so well.  I have a bit of a deer-in-the-headlights look on my face going on beyond my normal bug-eyed-ness.  I think I was feverish.  Yeah, let’s go with that.

By the time we got back to the hotel, I was feeling pretty “punk”, as my sweet daddy would have said.  And by morning I was completely “punk” – so “punk” that we decided to skip the wine fest and come home.  Now that’s PUNK!  I had close to a 101 degree temp by the time we were back home so crawled under the covers and slept most of the rest of the day.  Here’s how punk looks from my couch, wearing my new swing dress from Kohl’s and my Cincinnati Reds plush throw.

TBB Styling a dress
Feeling better this week and sad that we missed the wine fest but there will be another one this fall.

So this, my fashion friends, is the final post for this “Style Perspectives” series.  But you know what they say, when one door closes…another one opens.  And although we are putting this series to bed, the gals at The Blended Blog are kicking off “Create28” for the month of June.

Create 28 June
And first up for the “Create28” series and link-up is Lana who blogs at Two Teens and Their Mama.  This series runs everyday for…yup, you guessed it…28 days.  We will share a week’s worth of prompts and invite readers to link-up with us each Wednesday at The Blended Blog to share any of the prompts you styled for that week.
Here are the prompts for the first seven days.

Create28 June
To be perfectly honest, I haven’t really looked over these prompts except to sign up for one that will come along toward the end of the month.  I just took my peplum blouse to the consignment store…booo!  Wonder if I have time to go shopping for another?

Hope you will join us as we continue to play dress up this summer.  As with the “Style Perspectives” series, you can add your link-up on Wednesday’s on The Blended Blog or use #theblendedblogstyle and post your interpretation to Instagram or FB.  Can’t wait to see what you gals come up with.

And don’t forget to link-up with your favorite “dress” look for today’s “Style Perspectives” grand finale.

An InLinkz Link-up

So with that, I am off to bed.  Thank you for spending a few minutes of your day with me.  Hope to “see” you as we jump into “Create28”.  If there is a look that you would like to share on my blog, please leave me a comment below or email me, and I would love to feature you right here.

Hugs and kisses,
leslie

I felt very old and pitiful when I got sick. But PC was very sweet and understanding. And even napped with me.
      Thank you, Deena. Love you!

What a great outfit combo! I like the simplicity and neutrality of the dress but then you take it to the next level with that kimono! Sorry you felt so bad that you missed the wine festival and missed out on your fun plans! Points to PC for making those plans!

PC does get gold stars and big points for planning our weekend. I loved my outfit but just didn’t feel good that night.
Going to try it again for church in the near future. Wine fest will come around again!

Thank you, sugar foot! I need to try it out again now that I am feeling better. I could just eat that shawl, it looks juicy and fruity and summery, to me!
