10 Holiday Activities or Traditions: 10 on the 10th

10 Holiday Activities or Traditions

Hello weekend…almost!!  Wanted to share the details for this month’s 10 on the 10th: 10 holiday activities or traditions.  I have been most remiss about blogging, reading your blogs and even commenting on comments on my blog.  Not sure how I got so derailed.  But need to do better in 2021.  Hate doing things half-way.  And feel so badly when I don’t support those who stop by to support me.

10 Holiday Activities and Traditions

For the last 10 on the 10th of the year, I’d like to invite you to share 10 holiday activities or traditions.  If things in your neck of the woods are like they are in El Paso, there’s probably no telling how the holidays are going to look.  Probably a little lean and lonely around here.  But hopefully, white at least.  You know how I love S*N*O*W.

We may have to reflect back on Christmases or Hanukkahs past for this edition.  Or maybe share ways you are adapting your holiday around Covid restrictions!!  In any case, I will be excited to see what you come up with.  Might even share a holiday recipe or two.

Feel free to grab this graphic or create one of your own.

10 Holiday Activities or Traditions

And share your post on Thursday, 12.10.2020 or whenever you can get it written!!  The link up will be open for awhile.  And I promise, promise, promise to come by to visit your post in a timely fashion.  Was terribly delayed in doing so with the Thanksgiving 10 on the 10th.  First it was my surgery, then my computer screen started blinking every few seconds while I used it – and is still doing that – (no wonder I’m crazy!!).  I’ve counted 17 blinks in this short post.  Makes it hard to type when you can’t see where and what you are typing.   Finally Thanksgiving itself kept me away from blogging.

Please feel free to take this edition in your own direction.  Just have fun with it!!

YOUR TURN

Have you begun making holiday plans?  Ha, ha!!  Like planning is even a worthwhile endeavor these days.  Seems like a colossal waste of time to try to plan anything with that nasty, 5-letter word still impacting so much of life.

Enjoy a pleasant weekend.  Be safe and stay healthy.  Thank you for your friendship and patience with me.

Hugs and kisses,

leslie

It is funny how my kids are growing up now, so a lot of our ‘old’ traditions are going away… like, this was the first year they told me they’re too big for the Elf on the Shelf… WHICH, I’m kind of glad to have a break from that Elf! Ha! But, it is still a little sad. I’m still going to put gifts out for them for St. Nick’s Day, though and we may get in comfy PJ’s, get hot cocoa somewhere and drive around and look at lights this weekend. Covid really has made this season SO odd this year. I miss their band, school, etc. performances for Christmas. So sad! BUT, at least we have each other and our health.

Carrie, love your attitude. We are so fortunate to be healthy. But it doesn’t really feel like Christmas, does it? My daughter is exhausted with the Elf on the Shelf but always comes up with the cutest ideas. My younger daughter think the elf is creepy and they are using him as a spy for Santa, an elf that reports back to Santa if Lucia isn’t behaving or eating her dinner. HA!!

It’s fun to watch our children make their own family traditions now and see how they do things differently or whether they continue the ones we had when they were growing up.
We will still put our decorations up tomorrow as that is the Saturday closest to Paul’s birthday. Normally we see friends in the lead up to Christmas but that won’t happen this year as although pubs and restaurants are open, if you aren’t all from the same family you have to eat outdoors and December in England is not really that good for eating al fresco!

This looks like a great idea/challenge and I will put my thinking cap (and camera lens) on 🙂 Thank-you so much for popping into my blog – it was lovely to see you!

Hi Deb, we started putting up a few little things today outside. I have my fall decorations down and will put up my Christmas decor around the house. Paul really dislikes the holidays and so we will see about the tree. Not sure if we will put it up or not.

Oh. Don’t be too hard on yourself! I think we’ve all struggled this year. I know I’ve struggled just to keep afloat and I have been really horrible at reading other blogs, commenting, returning comments, and even just posting! So. We’ll do better in 2021. I always love these writing cues you have! I don’t think I really have many traditions, but now that I’m thinking about it, I might just have a few up my sleeve and will have to join in on the fun! xoxo

Kristin, thank you! I feel like a crummy friend not reading blog posts and commenting in a timely manner. Trying hard to turn a new leaf this month in preparation for doing much better in 2021.

    Hi Leslie
I miss some of the things we used to do as kids. We used to love to go downtown Pittsburgh and visit the windows. The largest dept store was one we marveled at when the windows each had a Holiday theme. We would spend the day and get cocoa. We try and do Ukranian traditions of having fish on Christmas eve, and playing carols as we wrap gifts. My friends and I used to collect for Children’s HOspital when we would carol at each house down the street. LOts of great memories!
    Have a great weekend!

Jess, I have gone fishing on Christmas but didn’t realize eating fish on Christmas Eve was a Ukranian tradition. Have never gone caroling but no one would appreciate my singing at their door!! You have so many sweet memories. Thank you for sharing some with me.

I will do my best to include that in my Thursday post! I will have to get to thinking about some of our traditions. We definitely have some, but I don’t know if we have 10 or not! Haha! We shall see!

This would be a fun idea for a post! We are so insanely lucky there haven’t been any cases here for 80 days so we are going to have a pretty normal Christmas – as we can gather in groups of a few hundred and there are less than that in our families, haha! Just crossing my fingers things continue to stay safe and there are no more restrictions before Christmas day. We couldn’t see our family during Iso as we lived more than 50ks apart so that was a really harsh restriction to live with 🙁 I’m glad we are back to almost normal and can have Christmas now!

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend! Another hot one here!

Mica, so glad for you that Christmas is going to be somewhat normal. And that you will be able to spend time with family. Things are looking up here in El Paso but we still have a ways to go before family gatherings will be ok. Hoping for that vaccine very soon.
We are finally having cooler temps…winter is coming. Makes for good sleeping. Have a great week.
