Hola, fashionistas!
Soooooo, do you guys still Pinterest?
Or is that passe these days, and I just haven’t gotten the memo?
Do you revisit the pins you, well, um…pin? Or do you pin things and never look at them again? I do both. I visit my foody boards quite regularly in search of a recipe I have used before or an idea for something new for dinner. And I like to look at the scrapbooking layouts I have pinned, and some of the tips I have saved. But that leaves a whole lot of pins on several dozen boards that are ignored for the most part.
Pinned and forgotten.
Heartbreaking.
A couple of weeks ago I stumbled across this pin from “My Fashion Haus” Pinterest board.
It features a whole lot of that funky, sagey, olive-drabby green that is my favorite color. I tend to pin lots and lots of green things. After seeing this pin again (that rhymes), I decided to make a concerted effort to try to put this outfit together from similar pieces in my closet. I think that was the second reason why this pin originally appealed to me. It was recreatable. Which my computer is telling me, with a red squiggly underline, really isn’t a word.
Here is the outfit I put together, with two different scarves.
I love the chunky knit of my Pinspiration cardigan but actually, in El Paso, I can get more wear out of my lightweight version from Target (similar, sorta similar). Sadly, the Pinterest sweater is no longer available. I paired it with high-waist Loft skinny jeans – super comf (similar). Gray tee from Target (similar, similar here but about 40X more expensive!) My beautiful (if I do say so myself) Frye boots (similar, similar) were a gift from PC a year ago Christmas. I prefer mine to those in my Pinspiration pic. The scarf in the picture on the left is prettier up close than it is over the invisible “wires” that connect my device to yours. Looks kinds of washed out here, huh? It is from Charming Charlie, kind of linen-y and scratchy. The scarf on the right was a gift from my friend Katie, thank you! It shows up so much better in pics and in person. Plus it looks more like the Pinspiration scarf (similar, similar with bling). Yay!
Here I am sporting the outfit before leaving for work.
At school, I popped into the faculty bathroom to take advantage of the great lighting for a couple more pictures.
Love me some potty pics.
Tonight, I played around on Polyvore to create yet one more version of this outfit.
Do you guys ever dabble with Polyvore? Lots of free fun. Like playing grown-up paper dolls. I even have a “Polyvore Pretties” Pinterest board. You can check it out here and “My Fashion Haus” board, here. And would love for you to follow me on Pinterest, here and on Polyvore, here. I find that fiddling around with Polyvore and Pinterest give me lots of ideas for new looks, projects for the house, tips and time savers but it is also cheaper than shopping and a whole lot more relaxing.
Begs the question what did I ever do on Friday and Saturday nights before Pinterest and Polyvore?
If there’s a Pinspired look your have recreated, would love to see it. Would love to know if you use Pinterest and Polyvore; please leave me a comment below.
Oh, and please check out my updated About Me page. A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a blog post for The Blended Blog, here, about the importance of a blogger’s About Me page. Finally revamped my own page this week. Probably more trivia about me than anyone would ever want to know!
Thank you for coming by.
Hugs and kisses,
Mary
Love this look, Leslie!
I can never find “anything to wear”, but with your fashion haus I’m finding lots of new outfits in my closet. Thanks!

I am so glad you can recreate some of these little numbers. Would love to share what you put together here on the blog. Send me a pic!!!

I look back and some things I pin, outfits and recipes… and crafts! That outfit looks great, I don’t have a lot of olive green in my closet… just a fringe shirt and a military jacket. I really love the polyvore version of the outfit, too! That scarf looks great with those colors!

I think I would buy nothing but green if I could get away with it. I am with green like a lot of gals are about wearing black. I am going to try to do more Pinspiration outfits this year and shopping from my closet.

Love those shades of brown on you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
So funny, I thought I was wearing green. Maybe greenish shades of brown! Thank you!

You look great in your “Pinterest” inspired look! I used Polyvore before I started my blog. I even won a year supply of Smart Water for one of the collages I made – and was a top finalist in the Rachel Zoe stylist challenge – my five minutes of fame! I have thought about getting back to it.

Congrats to you. A top finalist in the Rachel Zoe challenge!!! Your collages are so well done and professional
looking. Do you use a special program to get them just right? I want my collages to grow up and be just like YOURS!

Love the earth tones and this pretty color combo! Your recreation is spot on and looks so chic! Following you on Polyvore now! I don’t do much on it, my daughter is the expert in that department! Checking out your post on the Blended Blog next!

Thank you, sweet friend! My daughter got me started on Polyvore. I don’t do it often but it is a free, fun
creative outlet. Thank you for stopping by.

I need to use Pinterest more. Just haven’t gotten the hang of it. You did a great job recreating these looks!

Sometimes I think that pinning things to Pinterest is a form of virtual hoarding. And I wonder what is the point of all the pinning??!! But
I do enjoy doing it. And I almost always go back to revisit pins, not all of them, but many of them. So I guess it is harmless entertainment.
Thank you for stopping by.
