Dear friends,
I have been sadly MIA much of this fall but today is a new day! Have to get back to blogging – miss talking to YOU – and what better way to do that then to join my Blended Blog buddies for the inaugural post of our “Cozy for the Holidays” series? Hope you will take a sec to read all about this series from my cozy comadre Andrea, here on TBB. But before you go, let me share my cozy.
You probably remember that my mama took ill in October. I got the call at 5:30 am from my sister who had gotten the call from my brother that we needed to come right away to Kentucky. I scrambled around trying to figure out what to pack without knowing how long I would be gone and how the weather might change while I was there. And then there was the plane ride. It seems there are no direct flights out of El Paso going anywhere. So we can usually plan on making a day of it when we fly.
I wanted to be comfy and cozy. But I also wanted to look presentable because we would be going straight to the hospital from the airport.
Here’s what I threw together…literally.
Black joggers and gray sweat shirt are both TEK Gear from Kohl’s, white Snug Apparel cami and black Mix No. 6 flats from DSW.
Before we go any further, you might be asking why I took time/had time to take pictures of the outfit I was going to wear on the plane, traveling to care for my sick mother. I wasn’t able to book a flight until early afternoon so after I threw my suitcase together and got dressed, I was just sitting here being nervous. One can only bite her fingernails so much.
Plus, I had just started the Get Your Pretty On fall challenge with Alison Lumbatis. This was one of her outfits. Probably that outfit I was most uncertain about. When I tried on these suggested pieces on the shopping list at Kohl’s, I was pleasantly surprised. The joggers are comfy and cozy, no-iron and flattering! The shopping list actually called for a plain gray sweatshirt, which I did get. But this criss-cross number seemed a little dressier…if a gray sweatshirt can ever be ‘dressy’.
Here’s an up-close and personal photo of this coziness.
My necklace was a gift from my brother.
Kevin is very thoughtful and sentimental. You might remember a post I wrote about him, here. He is about as loving a brother, son and father as they come.
So, I made it to Lexington via Atlanta in about six hours time and without looking wrinkled. Well, that would be a falsehood. Let me just say my clothes weren’t wrinkled. There. And I was comfortable and warm the whole way.
Here are a few jogger pants and gray sweatshirts I pulled together, if you would like to shop this look. Until I put together this slide show, I had no idea joggers were available in velvet…VELVET! And velour, and silk. Guess I have been living under a rock.
My exact joggers are here. Couldn’t find my exact sweatshirt but check out some of these other little cuties. Love the one that says “cozy”.
This one look is an example of why I like doing the style challenges with Alison. This ole gal would never have put together these pieces. I thought joggers were for…well, jogging. Had no idea they came in so many styles and fabrics and were totally acceptable, even fashionable for traveling and running errands.

Going to leave you with one parting shot. Me. Home from work and cozy in bed today. Still fighting off the sinus and ear infection I had at Thanksgiving. Now I have added conjunctivitis to the mix. Good times.
no maybe not with all these germs.
Wave!
(just realized my signature is gone…will work on getting it back)

Hey, girlie! I’m sorry you’re sick! Poor baby! While that last picture is just pitiful (😜) your blog looks GREAT! I love that green header! I love all things green…except frogs. They need to just stay away from me. I’ve not tried joggers yet, but that outfit is cute and “put together.” Well done, you! Feel better soon.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Don’t you just love that green??? Thank you! It makes me happy. Yeah, I totally agree about frogs. Their squishiness outweighs their green color. You and Sheila have to try the joggers. Truly! So comfy. And they can be dressed up to look quite presentable. Get a cheap pair like I did and see what
you think. Then you can always jump in with two feet.
I am feeling better today but no voice. That will be music to PC’s ears when he gets home from a business trip today.
XO
Love to you.
Sheila @ Making the Most of Every Day
Oh girl! I love you so much! Love the look of this blog, love this post, love how you look! You are ROCKING the joggers! I would never have tried that but you might just get me to change my mind! Such a cute yet comfy outfit! Feel better friend! Sending you virtual chicken soup! 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Big love right back to you! Thank you for this sweet message. What a struggle this fall has been. Everyday I think things are going to get better but then something else comes up. Ugh.
Please give the joggers a try. I think I might buy a second pair in a nicer fabric…now that I know they come in velour and velvet, ha! They are comfy and I did receive many compliments. My sister always dresses beautifully when she flies but I felt almost as fancy when we met up in Atlanta to fly on to Kentucky.
Thank you so much for ALWAYS being here cheering me on. I appreciate your friendship and support more than you know.
Love you!
Carrie
That’s the perfect take on cozy! I love it and that is cozy to me too. Hope you feel better soon, friend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet friend. I love the no-iron aspect as much as anything. I am up to my ears in ironing. Might be part of why I am sick! Ha! Feeling better today, though, but have a stack of clothes awaiting me.
Cathy crandall
Hello from MI! For such a thrown together look, you look great -except I’m so sorry to hear you’re feeling so poorly and I’m hoping your pink eye gets better really quick! Your new blog look is excellent too-what a cool change up! Once again, you are so talented and I am so impressed! I’m thinking I might try your upcoming challenge-I can def do a whole lot of shopping in my closet, if you know what I mean… We are supposed to be getting a good bit of snow in the next few days, wish I was in your (warmer) neck of the woods! Get well soon!! C.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey, Cathy!!! I wish, wish, wish you would do the style challenge with me. Especially since you really have a winter season up there. We have a few minutes of winter but I can’t easily justify buying a whole lot of new winter clothes every year. Will be shopping my closet a lot but it is such fun. And we can post pics here of our outfits. Let me know if you decide to sign up.
Thank you for the sweet comments on the blog face-lift. I did have some help with it but wound up doing some of the little things myself. Apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks.
Sure appreciate your messages. They always make me smile. Are you scrapbooking these days? I hope to get a little done over the holidays.
Love to you!
Abbie - Grumbling Grace
Aww!! Feel better soon! Love that sweater, both the color and style. So cozy!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, sweet Abbie, thank you for coming by. I am feeling better today. Just no voice. But that’s ok. I did
feel cozy in my joggers and top. So cozy that I might wear them again today. Ha! XO
Lana
Your new blog design looks great! This is definitely a cozy outfit, but so pulled together and pretty at the same time!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! I kinda like the new look, too. I have learned a lot and can make little changes myself now when I want to give it a something different. Fun!!
Thank you for your sweet comment on my cozy outfit. I am thinking I might break it out again today.
dsimair
Love the new blog design!!! Hope you’re feeling better.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Aww, thank you! Feeling better today. Now just need my voice to return. PC has been out of town and he’s scared to come home. But he’s the reason I am sick!!!
LittleItaly2008 (@LittleItaly2008)
So sorry to hear about your mom. I hope your feeling better. And it’s funny you brought up the selfie, because I was wondering about that, but it makes sense! Hope your feeling better too!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Sweet new friend, thank you for coming by and warming my heart with your comments. I am feeling better today…can’t talk, but heck, that’s a minor detail. Stayed home from school because it is hard to teach without a voice. Going to clean house, though. So glad to have met you. Thank you
for stopping by, please come back again. XOXO

Sorry you’ve been sick! I hope you’ll feel all better soon!
Your travel outfit sure looks cozy yet put together! Love it! Great necklace – your brother is a keeper!
As you’ve probably figured “A Sentence a Day” did not happen in November after all, and it’s not happening again this month. But I am determined to finish it sooner than later! January seems a good month! We’ll see…

Maybe we can start writing our January sentences now!! I was having to catch-up two or three days at a time but
did get them written and have stuck with it all this month. Keep me in mind if you do want to link-up with this, or
anything, anything else.
I am so sick of being sick. Nuff said.
I do have a great brother and through him, a great necklace. Thank you. I am so blessed.
Please come back again. I have enjoyed getting to know you and so admire your sense of style. XO
curlycraftymom
Hope you feel better soon! I hate to hear that you aren’t feeling well! Hope your mom is doing better, too. My dad is still having some issues, wondering if it’ll ever be 100% again. I also need to email you about a post date for that book! I was thinking the last two months of December I have some days open- or we can shoot for January! Anyway- I just wanted to say that you gave me an idea for an outfit! I have black joggers, but I also have a gray sweatshirt that is embellished on the top. I bet the two would look great together and I’ve never tried this combo! Yours look comfy yet chic!

Hey, sugar. Woke up thinking of you and your daddy. And your beautiful smile.
Thank you for stopping by. I have given up on my mom ever being back to 100%. And I guess
that happens to everyone. So sad. My mom swears that surgery, the anesthesia is very detrimental
to the elderly…something about the anesthesia.
Anyway, let’s aim for the first of January with our book link-up. I think we can use the theme of
the book in a post about planning for the new year. What do you think? I will email you. But just
how we can look for support during trials from those older and younger. Something like that?
I cannot believe I could give you an outfit idea but so tickled that I did. If you take a pic, please
share with me and I will add it to my blog. Thank you so much for making me feel stylish!
Big love to you and a hug to your daddy. Will email this weekend. XO

It’s SNOWING on your blog! What the what?! That was so cool! Love the outfit friend.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! I love the snow. And my cozy. Gotta get off this sick bed and back to the gym before
I outgrow my whole closet. XO
dousedinpink
I love your new blog design! I’m also loving this cozy look! That sweatshirt is so cute! Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you! I was so frustrated at first with the new blog design but now I am getting things fixed the way I want them. I need to get my lazy, sickly butt back to the gym before I “outgrow” my gray sweatshirt and joggers.
alisonculhane
Joggers are that perfect mix of comfy and put together. I had a pair but they shrunk a bit. Now I need to find a new pair!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I am about to eat my way out of my joggers. Just haven’t felt like exercising! Hope they stretch.
