Fashionistas, happy Wednesday!
And if it is Wednesday, it is time for The Blended Blog “Create28” Week 2 recap and link-up. Did you try any of the outfit prompts for this week, girls? I actually played dress-up a little bit this week with a couple of the looks. I sampled #9 Fringe Fun, #11 Summer Sundress x 2, and #12 Bold Bottoms. Here’s the graphic for all this week’s prompts.
I kind of accidentally styled #14, too, but on the day I should have been wearing #12. ( Never was any good at math!) Whatever the day, whatever the prompt, here’s what I came up with.
#9 Fringe Fun with Deena at Shoes to Shiraz: (your eyes aren’t playing tricks, the graphic does say with Two Teens and Their Mama but Deena and Lana switched) Dress Barn kimono with fRiNgE, Everlane gray V-neck tee, Loft peach railroad striped jeans, DSW d’Orsay flats, earrings from Charming Charlie.
I have worn this little number a couple of times and would say this is me. This is something I am comfortable wearing, something that I would wear to work, out shopping, to a movie and dinner with PC. And how ’bout that layout? I am experimenting with layouts and making prettier, fancier graphics. What do you think about this one? Too much? Too big? I used a program called Canva to create it and the one below, which brings us to…
#12 Bold Bottom(s) with Christy at R Squared: Loft Outlet blue tee, Loft Outlet paisley shorts, Jack Russell Converse tennies.
I wore this to school on my last day, when the kids were already out for summer vacation and I was busy with last minute cleaning in the library. There was a time in my life that I would not have worn any kind of pattern on my behind, much less something BOLD. But I have learned with old age to embrace pattern and color and have fun with my clothes. And apparently, my caption on this Canva was a fun little Freudian slip…the prompt was “Bold Bottoms” with an ‘S’ but I accidentally? captioned this with “Bold Bottom”. That’s me, Lil Miss Bold Bottom.
#11 Summer Sundress with yours truly: (another switcheroo, I stepped in for Nicole at Nick & Nicole + 4) Okay, here’s where it gets messy, girls. I was supposed to style a summer sundress. So when I volunteered to help a sista out and sub for Nicole, I planned on going right up to my closet and pulling out my white sundress. But when I looked for my dress, it wasn’t there. Yikes! I remembered last fall debating whether I was too old to wear a white lace sundress but couldn’t remember what I had decided. And now it was too late to ask for a sub for the sub so I asked my fashionable younger daughter Lauren if she thought my sleeveless swing dress could be considered a sundress. She said the right thing. Whew, so I used it for my post – check it out here.
The very next day, it occurred to me where my white sundress was. It was with all of the other sundresses I was missing, in the guest room closet, of course. Of course. I mean, thank goodness. So, I give you my summer sundress-es.
- Black and white wrap around, Ralph Lauren Chaps, pink heels from Rack Room Shoes, pearls from Amazon.
- White eyelet from Dress Barn, Payless floral pumps, Old Navy statement necklace.
- Large floral print Corey P. wrap around from Kohl’s (I think), pink pumps from Rack Room Shoes, statement necklace from Old Navy and Purrsnickitty.
- Black and white polka dot with tulle petticoat Jodi Kristopher from Dillard’s, Rack Room pink pumps, Amazon pearls.
The black and white dress is what I wore to our Justice of the Peace wedding ceremony in 2008…so glad to find it in the guest room closet. Happy to see my old friend white eyelet again, too. The large floral print dress was one I bought to wear to Lauren’s wedding but didn’t wind up wearing it. And my PC picked out the polka dot dress for our honeymoon trip to Paris in 2009.
That brings us to #14, styled by Sheila at Making the Most of Every Day. I didn’t intentionally do this prompt today because I had used my swing dress on day #11 as a sundress. But since I found my sundresses, all of them, I can now put my swing dress where it belongs, for today’s prompt.
#14 Swing Dress: purple and black sleeveless striped dress Apt. 9 from Kohl’s, Old Navy denim jacket, Rack Room silver sandals, Charming Charlie silver chain.
And that’s a wrap or a recap. Tomorrow we begin a whole new week of prompts and kicking it off we have Katie at The Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life with “Sunglasses Styled”. I am going to need to take notes on this one because the only way I style my sunglasses is on my head. Hey, check out #20! That’s me! I need to figure out what that look is going to LOOK LIKE!
If you have a “Pinned It & Did It” look you would like to share with me, please email me!! Or leave a comment below. Maybe we can do this post together, huh? Thank you. And be sure to take pics of any of the other prompts you try, tag them with #theblendedblogstyle and show them off on Instagram and Twitter.
Have a swell hUmP dAy, friends. I am starting my spring cleaning tomorrow so that means I will be wearing yoga pants and an old tee. Yeah, I’ll post a pic!
Ah, oh…almost forgot….yup, question of the post. Question: Which of the graphics above do you prefer? From a design perspective, not the outfits, but just the layout. Please let me know below. Do I keep learning Canva or just do my graphics as I have always done them?
Now…
Hugs and kisses,
Sheila @ Sheila's Potpourri
I love ALL your sundresses! So glad you found them and that you kept the white one! You have great taste, Leslie! I like your outfits and how you accessorize them!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Wow, I am going to carry your sweet message in my heart. I don’t often hear that I have great taste. Thank you, Sheila.
Whitney @ Whitney a la mode
Lil Miss Bold Bottom! Haha. I’m trying not to laugh out loud while my students are taking their final exam! You did a great job of fulfilling the prompts this week! I think I like the “Bold Bottom” graphic the best. It’s simple with nice clean lines. Then again, I need to work on my graphic-making skills so I am no expert!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
For heaven’s sake, woman, get out of school already! Glad to give you a giggle. I liked playing with the graphics and I agree, often clean and simple is best…I just never ever seem to remember that. XO
Sharon
Looking good girl! You still have the best legs! Love your blog! 👍
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, friend! Trying to do something with this cellulite but losing the battle.
Deena
I know I should comment on your outfits, but your graphics, Leslie!!! Looking awesome!!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay, coming from you that means a whole lot!!!
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
Love all of your outfits! That purple swing dress…I want!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thanks, love!
Andrea Nine
Sooo pretty!!! My favorite layouts are the ones where you have the whole dress at an angle with one hem laid higher and lower,,…super classy!! You look so cute always but extra loving those bold ones!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, dear one. I love doing the flat layouts. Then I don’t have to do makeup or hair or try to bribe PC into taking a blurry pic of me. Thank you! XO
Lana
Love everything – you look so beautiful! So glad you found your sundresses!!! You do a great job with flat layouts – I can’t quite master them myself!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet Lana. I really like the flat layouts because I can skip the fit, the hair, the makeup! Which I don’t worry too much about anyway! Ha!
I am glad to have found my sundresses, too, because I can’t afford new ones. Now to try them on to see if they still fit.
Alison @ Puppies & Pretties
Phew! Glad you found all your sundresses!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Me, too. PC, too!!!
Abbie
