Hey girls!
It’s almost bedtime and I am trying very hard to get 7 hours of sleep these nights. But I want to share the quick, simple Valentine garland I made today for our mantle. I love linking-up on Sundays with my friend Carrie at Curly, Crafty Mom for her “Creative Corner”. So scrambled to make my garland this afternoon.
Start with Hugs and Kisses
When I saw this ‘hugs and kisses’ muslin garland at Target, I knew it would be the heart of my Valentine garland. It was among several different garlands in Target’s dollar bins right after the Christmas holidays. Since I always close here on the blog with ‘hugs and kisses’, it really spoke to me.
Love the glittery, metallic gold Xs and Os. And those tassels, of course. They seem to be showing up everywhere on everything these days. Not just for dancing girls any more. This Valentine garland was $3.00 and is 60″ long. The letters and tassels can be moved along the twine so that I could space them as I liked.
Add Some Fluff
A few weeks after I bought the hugs and kisses garland, I found these fluffy pom-poms and cupid’s arrows.
The pom-poms were actually a garland themselves. Wound up combining the two garlands to make one. Slid the hugs and kisses pennants off their twine and put them on with the pom-poms.
Aren’t those colors flirty and fun? The pom-poms are made out of tulle, so girly!! One 60″ pom-pom garland is $3.00.
Finally, True Love Begins with an Arrow
My heart pitter-patted a little harder when I saw these chipboard arrows attached to clothes pins. In the package of 4 ‘flechas’, there is a metallic gold arrow, a glittery gold arrow, a metallic pink arrow and a glittery pink arrow. I bought two packages at $3.00 each.
I secured the garland to my mantel with packing tape, then spaced everything out evenly along the twine.
Ta-Da My Valentine Garland
When everything was where I wanted it, PC and I went for a walk in the canyon. When we came home, PURRsnickitty had pawed the garland from her place on the kitty perch until it she worked it off the mantle completely. It was laying in a big jumble at the foot of the perch when we got home.
I scooted the perch more than a paw’s distance from the fireplace and rehung the garland. And it has stayed up the rest of the evening.
So, that’s my simple Valentine garland for less than $15.00. We’ll see if it is still hanging in the morning. PURRsnickitty and PURRsimmony are kind of like the flying Wallendas when we are upstairs asleep and they are left unsupervised all night.
I am thinking the mantle might need a few Valentine decorations to accompany our photo from last year’s VD dance. A trip to Hobby Lobby might be in order. And tomorrow is payday. Yay!
Ah, oh! Look what just happened right before my very eyes. PURRsimmony must not realize I am still downstairs. Apparently, the perch is still too close. Or her reach is longer than her sister’s. Remedying that now.
Do you have any Valentine’s decorations out? What kind of romantic plans do you have for the day of love?? Please inspire me in a comment below.
Off to bed. If I hurry, I can still get seven hours of sleep. ZZZZZzzzzz! Good night.
Hugs and kisses,

Thank you, Carrie. PC rolls his eyes when I head to the dollar bins but at least I am using my money to buy these things!
He can’t complain too much. I love all of the cutie stuff Target has…there and everywhere. Dangerous, dangerous store.
