Good morning, fashionistas,
We are gathered together today for another installment of What We Wore, featuring the outfits from the second week of the Get Your Pretty On Summer 2015 Challenge. I haven’t been completely faithful to wearing the outfits or posting my versions to the group’s Facebook page. But that’s the beauty of these challenges. You can wear the outfits when you want and the way you want.
So here’s what I wore:
Day 5 Lace Top + Bright Shorts + Colorful Necklace + Wedges
My ingredients for Day 5: Loft Outlet lace tank, Loft Outlet shorts, Target/Merona metallic sandals and necklace from Charming Charlie’s.
The last picture in the group above was taken hurriedly on Friday night as PC and I left for the Chihuahua’s Triple A baseball game. I had to take a picture because these are the relaxed skinny jeans my BFF Sharon sent me a few weeks ago. When I posted a picture of them the first time, there was nothing relaxed about them. They have loosened up nicely but I am hoping it is because I have been faithfully following my 30 Day Beginning Runner’s Challenge. All of my clothes are feeling more comfortable.
Day 6 Chambray Top + White Shorts + Sneakers + Hair Wrap
I didn’t style this outfit. I have a couple pairs of white shorts but I don’t really like them. In fact, I am not sure how they have escaped several recent loads to Goodwill. I need to find some new white shorts I like better. And the hair wrap. I haven’t committed to buying one yet. I did try them on at Loft Outlet last Friday. Does that count? I see a lot of the gals embracing this trend on our FB page but it makes me nervous. Day 7 Denim Vest + Maxi Dress + Wedges
My ingredients for Day 7: TJ Maxx Raindrops maxi dress (last summer), Loft Outlet denim vest, Payless Fioni tan wedges,Target Missoni black wedges, Miche petite bag. I have only worn my maxi dresses a couple of times. I need to break them out and start wearing them more often.
Day 8 Flowy Tank + Printed Shorts or Palazzo Pants + Metallic Sandals
My ingredients for Day 8: Gifted Flying Tomatoes palazzo pants from my sister Valerie (last summer), Converse flowy black tank (last summer), pink and orange Miche Demi bag/blue Miche petite bag, black wedges from Kohl’s, silver tribal earrings from Walmart, gifted silver cuff from my sister-in-law Metra.
Day 9 Graphic Tee+ Boyfriend Shorts + Sneakers
My (modified) ingredients for Day 9: I realized when I went to my closet to fetch my boyfriend shorts for this outfit that, lo and behold, I don’t have any boyfriend shorts. Must remedy that when I go shopping for the white shorts that I don’t have. So I put together this very loose interpretation of the Day 9 OOTD. Kohl’s Sonoma striped skirt ($11, my mom would be so proud), Loft Outlet graphic tee, cascade cardigan from StitchFix in the fall, Walmart leopard flats (last fall). I asked Paul to take these pictures and as I have explained before, he just snaps one pic after another after another til I realize what he is doing and try to grab my phone away (blurry picture of my neck).
Here are few random combinations I tried with some of the ingredients for this week’s outfits.
The navy, black and white palazzo pants are Fire from Steinmart. The multicolor bag is a Miche Demi.
When I did the ReDiscoverME Challenge with Alison early in the year, participants were asked to complete a variety of worksheets to help us redirect ourselves and our lives. One of the worksheets I keep tucked into my purse and on it I write down wardrobe items that I need to replace or upgrade. I will be adding white shorts and denim boyfriend shorts to my list of upgrades. Another item on the summer shopping list that I don’t have yet is a multicolored necklace. I went out in search of it yesterday at Charming Charlie’s but came up empty-handed. So I can’t check that off my Upgrades Worksheet yet.
Come back next week, same time, same place for the week 3 outfits. And to see if I have found my upgrades.
In the meantime, would love to have YOU link up to share a favorite outfit with us.
And to enter our giveaway for a $200 GAP brands gift card.
Lastly, be sure to visit the blogs of other gals below. Now these girls know how to put together the summer challenge outfits right!
Sharon
Hair wrap? My girls wear those but I feel Im too old and my hair isn’t long enough. Loft has a few cute multi colored necklaces. Check them out but they aren’t on sale this week. 🙁 Steinmart has tons of jewelry so I bet you can find the perfect one there! You look purdy in all your outfits!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey BFF!!! Thanks for the tip to check Steinmart and Loft for necklaces. I ran into Charming Charlie’s but didn’t see anything truly multi-colored. I love my girls in headbands, especially Brennyn. And Lauren wears hats so well! But I feel weird even with a bobby pin in my hair. Love you, Sharonia. Enjoy organizing today.
Shaunacey
I am in LOVE with your maxi and palazzo pants!!! Such pretty patterns. You’re looking so lovely this challenge (As per usual)
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet Shaunacey. I am just so proud that I can wear the palazzos my sister bought me last summer. I love the crazy, bright pattern. Not sure I am ready to meet the world in them yet but they are motivating me to keep running and tracking my Weight Watcher points. XO
Morgan
Hi Leslie! Love the Maxi dress outfit. I have 5 maxi dresses and I love them. I wear them with a denim jacket (long sleeved). I’ll have to get a vest (since El Paso) is so hot. Love seeing you pair clothes.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey, Morgan! Where did you find your maxi dresses? I need to start wearing mine out so I feel more comfortable in them. I have only really worn them on vacation and once to a wine fest. Would love to see pics of your looks to inspire me. Anytime you want to co-post with me, holler! I would love it. XO
Morgan
I have gotten 2 of mine in my Stitch Fix boxes. Have you tried that service? It’s neat. I did stop when I got pregnant though. I got another one at Nordstrom Rack. When I wear them again I’ll take pics. 🙂 If I get brave enough to co-post I’ll let you know! 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You can co-post any time about anything. Just let me know. In fact, I am asking my library/teacher friends to write a book review about a favorite children’s chapter book. Would you want to share?
I love Stitch Fix but have only done it twice. Can’t afford it much any more.
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
Wow, you are looking GREAT! Are you still running? I really, really love everything about Day 6’s outfit… but, all of your outfits are fab!

Hey Carrie! I am still running. I am up to two and a half miles. Not setting any speed records but I am getting in better shape at least. I have been running mostly on my treadmill but would like to take it outside maybe this fall. It is just too hot in El Paso to run during the day and I am scared to run after dark for fear for stumbling. You continue to inspire me in so many ways. So glad I found your blog. Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment. XO
Deena
Isn’t it so wonderful when clothing starts fitting better? Congrats on the hard work!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I love the quote “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels”… I am not even trying for skinny, just for more toned but that doesn’t have the same ring…”Nothing tastes as good as being more toned feels”. Yeah, NO! Thank you, Deena. XO
Mary
Wow, Leslie, I am in LOVE with those palazzo pants!!!!! I also really love the green shorts with the white lace top. Of course, all of your outfits look fabulous, and congrats on your clothes feeling better!!!! Woo hoo!!! It;’s a great feeling!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Mary, I think these palazzo pants are similar to the ones my sister Valerie tripped in and broke her nose when we were at the library conference in April. I am almost afraid to step out of the house with them. But I love that crazy color and pattern. Thank you for your sweet words. I think I have only lost like a pound or two but I do feel better toned. Still such a long waaaaay to go but moving (slowly) in the right direction. XO
Carrie
That maxi and palazzo pants are both such great prints. Love them both on you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Carrie. I haven’t been brave enough to wear either in El Paso yet! My maxi dresses have only been vacay-wear but I need to get over being timid in them and just DO IT!
Lana
You are gorgeous in your maxi dresses! Looking lovely :)!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Lana. I felt kinda pretty but still too chicken to wear them out of the comfort of my own home. Have only worn them out of town and on vacay. Need to suck it up and wear them! XO
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
Loving your outfits, but hands down my favorite is the maxi with the vest, I just got mine in the mail. After seeing everyone’s vests last week, I just had to get one of my own. I had been holding out, but no longer! Next week, you will see a vest, provided the one I bought fits!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay, YOU to get a vest. I forget to wear mine but like it every time I remember. Will look forward to seeing pictures of you in yours – from the front and the back!!
Alison @ Puppies & Pretties
Those pants are seriously fancy! I love them 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Throws water on that whole librarian stereotype, huh? I haven’t worn them in public yet, though. Thank you!
