Afraid I was absent without leave for much of this week of the Winter Style Me Pretty Challenge. I have followed along on Facebook, admiring everyone’s great interpretations of each day’s outfits and marveling over the way the fashionistas carried their personal style into decorating their homes for the holidays.
But in the hub bub of Christmas preparations and not having to get dressed for work, I often wound up getting dressed for the gym in the morning even though I didn’t go to the gym until late afternoon.
My daughter Lauren is visiting this week (YAY!) and we did wear a modified Day 14 outfit together over the weekend. Lauren has always had a great sense of style…her own signature style. When she combines it with Alison’s great challenge pieces, Lauren looks real world, runway-ready. In my totally unbiased and humble opinion. Check out her pictures below, though, and see if you don’t agree!
On Day 11, I wore what I had hoped would be a tunic sweater but what turned out to be too short to completely cover my lady business like a good tunic should. So I guess it is a sweater? Another thing I noticed about said sweater was that it pilled from the moment I slipped it on. By the end of the day, it looked like a knitted case of the hives. At least it wasn’t itchy.
The Day 11 run down: Loft sweater, Loft skinny jeans, Marc Jacobs rain boots, boot cuffs from Etsy, cross statement necklace and earrings from local boutique.
My outfit for Day 12 turned out to be one of my favorites. Truly loved this and it was all just kind of a hit or miss combination of pieces. Today’s tunic was a tunic. Would even work with leggings, I think. It is very light and semi-sheer so I wore a Spanx-y-type tank top underneath for several reasons! My collar wasn’t one of the great fur scarves I have seen everyone else with but it is the closest thing I could find here when the Winter challenge shopping list came out. Yesterday our west-side Target had all kinds of fur scarves, hats and accessories. Go figure. We always seem to be on the tail end of trends here in El Paso.
The Day 12 ingredients: Loft skinny gray jeans, Target tunic, cardigan from a recent Stitch Fix (not sure of the brand and too lazy to check), chenille scarf from Steinmart, blue suede shoes from…wait for it…ELVIS? No, Payless, sillies!
Love my baby girls.
Love my Brennyn Alexis and love my Lauren Allegra and love my Cadence Ellie.
I gush over them. But that isn’t hard to understand because they are all three really great.
Really. Great.
On Day 14, we went to dinner and to see The Hobbit.
Lauren’s pieces are: Military jacket and long sleeved tee from Target, Express jeans, plaid scarf from Target, earrings from Charming Charlie’s and boots from DSW. When asked if there was anything she wanted to say about that outfit, she said “Nope.”
Direct quote.
My pieces are: Loft jeans, Kohl’s boyfriend cardi, long sleeved tee from Loft Outlet, scarf from Target, boots from Belk.com.
And for today, Day 16, Lauren and I met Paul for lunch at a local rolled taco dive called Chico’s Tacos, then ran to Hobby Lobby. We were hot one minute and cold the next. Crazy El Paso weather. But our layered outfits indulged us and our shifting internal thermometers.
I am wearing an Old Navy plaid shirt with a long tank from Amazon underneath, skinny jeans from Loft, boots from DSW, snowflake earrings from Charming Charlie’s, poncho from Tradesy. And I am carrying Lauren’s purse so I have something to do with my hands!
Lauren is wearing Levi’s jeans, plaid shirt from Target, military jacket from Target, pearl necklace and earrings from Charming Charlie’s and boots from DSW. Her great bag is from Target, too. She is one BIG Target shopper in a little body.
So glad to be able to share a couple of outfits with you from my baby girl. We have a couple of additional blog posts planned to do together before she goes home on Sunday so please stop back by.
