Dear ones,
About a month ago I first blogged about my spring bucket list, here. Today I’m bringing you my first update; a progress report of sorts. Super excited that this solo project has blossomed into a group affair among a wide assortment of bloggers. I am so grateful that these friends saw something fun in creating then crossing activities off their lists. Thank you, girls.
A Look At My Spring Bucket List
To be perfectly honest, until today, I hadn’t looked at my list in a couple of weeks. Was sure that I had added something about attending the library conference and participating in Relay for Life. But I didn’t! Will be sure to do that next year. Let’s see what I did put on my list.
Hmm, very interesting that I didn’t alphabetize my list. Must be slipping because I alphabetized winter and autumn’s lists. Let me rectify that some by alphabetizing the activities I have accomplished. Here goes.
Decorate Wheelbarrow For Spring
So thankful to my BFF Sharon for sharing her creativity with me. I am always inspired by the ways she transforms her yard and her home for every season. Cross this one of the list!
Get Highlights Or Lowlights Or Some Kind Of Sparkle
Late this winter, PC had started kind of softying my hair when we would snuggle on the couch. But I had become self-conscious because there was more and more gray in my hair. So sad because instead of enjoying his touch, I would tense up and be counting 1,001, 1002, 1003 gray hairs. I decided it was time to wash that gray right out of my hair.
The day of my color and cut, I actually liked my hair more than usual. If I hadn’t had an appointment, I might have forgotten the whole thing. Glad I didn’t. Color, cut and highlights…
Get Season’s First Pedi
An easy one! Actually, it was PC’s idea that we do this together. Even though he is a prince, my PC really isn’t the metro-sexual kind of guy. But we both enjoy a massage or foot rub now and then. So before my trip, we indulged in a pedi. PC’s sans nail polish, of course.
Can you tell whose legs are whose? Guess carefully!
Go To A Chihuahua’s Game
You know PC is a huge baseball fan. He plays third base on a ’50 and over’ baseball team and is the Cincinnati Reds most faithful fan. And both of us enjoy going to watch our Triple A team, the Chihuahuas, at our beautiful Southwest University Ball Park. Put a big happy check by this one.
Paint Spring-Themed Painting
Done son. The theme of our paintings isn’t obviously spring but it could be spring, or summer or fall. Just not winter. We participated in Drink and Draw in downtown El Paso on a chilly Thursday evening just as spring arrived. Painted outside under the stars.
This was our view from the patio where we painted.
Pay It Forward
Can we put a half a check mark by this one? I have kind of done this but want to do it again or more or further. National Library Week fell while I was the substitute librarian at Tom Lea Elementary. The faculty and staff were so thoughtful, presenting me with a lovely Easter lily, a mixed flower arrangement and a scrumptious chocolate cake that I shared with everyone. I enjoyed having the flowers in the library with me then brought them home on the last day of my sub assignment.
I had my trip to Houston-San Antonio coming up and hated for my flowers to just wilt away while I was gone. So on Easter, before flying out, I took them to a nearby rehab center. Asked the receptionist to give them to someone who might need some cheering up. She kind of looked at me sideways but accepted the flowers.
Hope they brought joy to someone else just as they did to me.
Run For The Fallen 5K
Yuppers, check this one off the list. Went to the wrong venue for the race. Figured it out when there was no starting line, finish line and no racers. Nothing gets past me. So had to race (in the car) across Ft. Bliss to the right place and then I was late. But I ran the race anyway.
Watch “Beauty and the Beast”
Not sure why, but I have called this movie by the wrong name since it was first advertised as a coming attraction. I even called it “Sleeping Beauty” on my spring bucket list. We did see “Beauty and the Beast” but it took three tries to do so. Date night with my Prince.
Odds and Ends
I did decorate for spring but haven’t taken pictures so will save that for my next update. And I have been working on my elephant cross-stitch but not enough yet to brag about here. We will be doing yard work around the pool this weekend. Excited to find just the right plants for our oasis. Underway on many of the other activities on my spring bucket list. Hope you will come back for our next update in about a month.
Your Turn
Do you have a spring bucket list or maybe a to-do list of activities for yourself and your family? If you blog, we would love to have you link-up with us to brag a little on your progress.
Ok, the link-up is making me crazy. Not sure if it is working. Never have had trouble with one like I am today. I apologize!!
Linking-up today with some really special ladies. Please click on their blogs below to see how they’ve fared on their spring bucket lists so far.
We will be sharing our summer bucket lists on June 20. Won’t you join us?
Thank you, dear friends, for your readership…is that a word? For allowing me into your laptop or smart phone or notebook to spend a bit of time with you and you with me.
Hugs and kisses,
Tamara R
All I can say is ‘yeah’ for good hair stylists! I don’t know when I’ll let loose and go gray, but I do know I’m not there yet, so until then my hairstylist just does her magic, and keeps the count of gray hairs to herself. Ha!
Congratulations on your race completion! Don’t you just loooove the positive energy of being surrounded by other runners during a race? I’ve been injured since last January – and just now, fingers crossed, starting to carefully run a small section of my race walk workout. I’ve done two marathons and probably 20 half marathons, and I can’t tell you how much I miss training for and running races, so you go girl!!!

Your spring wheelbarrow looks so cute! Yay for paying it forward! That was VERY thoughtful of you! 🙂
Natalie
I like your creative activities (wheelbarrow decorating, painting). Congrats on completing your 5K!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you. I like doing creative things but when working a lot, I don’t have much time for all of my little projects. Five more weeks til summer break, though. And I sure like having these paychecks!
Looking for another 5K to run before we move into the dog days of summer. Maybe I can start the next one on time when everyone else does.

Your wheelbarrow is SO happy! I love it! And good for you for tracking down the correct race area! I’m impressed you didn’t just go home! I’m chuckling about your hair color because I’m growing the highlights out of mine! Embracing my silver, I am! You look gorgeous, friend! And hooray for Beauty and the Beast! I have the soundtrack on repeat these days. Good stuff!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Truth be known, I was tempted to just home when I showed up at the wrong place for the 5K. But it was on my bucket list!! And I had ‘bragged’ about doing it. I had to go. Had to!
Good for you to embrace your silver. I keep saying that I am going to do that, too. But then PC starts combing through my hair and I can’t color it fast enough. He is six years younger than I am, which is part of the problem! If he’d just hurry up and go gray or catch up with me in age, then maybe I could embrace my silver.

You have done so many amazing things already this spring! I love your wheelbarrow, so cute! I love how you are taking care of yourself. I wish I could paint that well. I have no artistic capability. Your spring is off to a great start!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! It is. Now, if we could get rid of this wind that has plagued us for two months, and finally start swimming in the pool, I would be a happy camper. I am really ready for summer vacation, too. Four and a half weeks. YES!
Sue from Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond
Love this concept Leslie and I have actually written 17 things for my to do list in 2017 which I’m starting to tick off. I’m also a runner so it was good to see you tick off the 5k Run for the Fallen. I loved all of your images and looking forward to the next instalment.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Sue, thank you for reading and commenting. The bucket list posts have become my favorite. I feel like a kid in a candy store thinking of all the things I would like to do and knowing I can make a lot of them happen with a little effort. So glad you are game for joining us this summer. Will you be doing updates on your 17 things for 2017? I would like to see your list and read about your progress. XO
Amy Johnson
You always look that you are enjoying yourself and having so much fun in your life. I love your bucket lists! The wheel barrow is so cute. Would you believe I’ve never had a pedicure? someday!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
What a very sweet thing to say, Amy! I try to have fun living life. I can get down, too, but bounce back pretty quickly. Time for you to experience the heaven that is a pedicure. Kind of a massage for the feet! I don’t have them often but enjoy every one! Thank you for coming by, sweet friend.
Lisa
I am thinking of adding “highlights” to my hair – have you ever heard of balayage? Sounds like you got a lot done on your list – and are having fun so far.

Yes, I think balayage is so pretty! I bet you would rock it.
Carol ("Mimi")
Looks like you’re having a great time checking things off your springtime bucket list. Kudos to you for taking the initiative to enjoy life!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
We will be doing our summer bucket lists on June 20 and would love to have you join us!!! I did it all by my lonesome until spring and then I had a great group of girls join me. The more the merrier, so if you are interested, please let me know. I have found that putting things on my bucket list almost ensures they will happen. Makes me more accountable writing posts about the activities, too.
