Dear friends,
For a year that has flown by, September seemed to slow things down a bit. And October is starting off about the same way at the Clingan house. Sentence a Day, 09.2018 is a look at my month in little more than 30 run-on sentences. Most of the month my Prince C. was working in North Carolina but I kept myself busy and out of trouble. Come see…
Sentence a Day, 09.2018
Kicking Off the Month
- Fall arrived with the first day of September…gray, partly cloudy skies, occasional drops of rain, October-like winds, cooler temps…so enjoyed sitting on my patio, reading and watching the weather change from one minute to the next; swam, napped with my PC, in the evening we had a beer at DeadBeach brewery then watched our El Paso Chihuahuas in a great end of season game followed by an amazing fireworks display. 09.01.2018
- Our weather continues to be fall-like, and our walk/run at McKelligon Canyon was brisk and cool, lifted weights at the gym, did laundry and PC packed for his 2.5 weeks in North Carolina then we had dinner at Chili’s, TV time tonight. 09.02.2018

So, that was my month in a sentence a day. Had a shingles vaccination and a flu vaccination yesterday and feeling pretty ‘punk’ today as my daddy would say. Running a fever this afternoon…guess that goes along with the vaccinations. Going to take it easy tomorrow and hope to feel better by Saturday.
Your Turn
How was your September? Did you step out of your comfort zone to try something new? How did you welcome in autumn? Please let me know in a comment below. And that rhymes! Or if you have a sentence a day post, won’t you link up with us?
Heading up to bed. PC has his world series tournament next weekend. I need to keep from breathing on him so he doesn’t get sick!
Hugs and kisses,
Sarah Carrido
Ice cream for dinner, now that’s how I want to roll. You were so stinkin’ busy this month! Wow you get a lot done in a day! and I love that you skype with your sister to scrapbook, that is so awesome. And that you talk to your grandkids so much, love it! Happy Weekend lady!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey doll!! Thank you for coming by. I am so grateful that Skype/Facetime whatever was invented during my lifetime and allows me to stay a part of my daughters’ and granddaughters’ lives. I remember seeing something like that used on The Jetsons cartoon when I was little and thinking such a thing would never become reality. And here we are!
Ice cream for dinner any day of the week. Have you guys ever had dessert first? I used to do that with the girls. Blew their minds.
You say such sweet things, Sarah. Thank you for uplifting me with your comments. XO
Nancy
Happy anniversary!
I love the lilac jeans outfit! Wonderfull sandals too! Have a great October Leslie!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Nancy, for the sweet compliment on my lilac pants outfit. My hubs thought I was nuts buying purple pants but I have loved wearing them. Guys. What do they know???
Gail
Love reading about your month. Your life seems packed with colors and flavours and a whirl of activity. Mine just seems to revolve around drive to office/busy day/go to gym/do housework. The outfit you wore to church – raw hem lilac jeans and floral kimono – so pretty! Sorry you had a few tribulations but you’re a strong lady and you can deal with whatever life throws at us. Thanks for herding up all the bloggers for this great link up! x
Leslie Roberts Clingan
LOVE your comment! Thank you for the sweet words. You warmed my heart. Got tickled at the thought of me herding up the bloggers for Sentence a Day. A fun visual!
Funny how you see my life a packed with colours and flavours (notice my spelling) and activity. I would say the very same of yours. Theater in London. Iwan Rheon performance. That would never happen in El Paso! Love that you can walk everywhere. I often think of you walking to work or the market. When we visited France, I was so impressed by the women dressed to the nines riding bicycles everywhere. I swore I was going to start doing that here. Didn’t try it a time. Just impractical because of the way our cities are laid out.
juhli
What a full month with lots of variety within it! Hope you and everyone else is feeling well by now.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Juhli We got to feeling better and then, silly us, went for flu vaccinations and started feeling bad again. I really believe babies get sick when they are teething and adults can get sick after flu shots. Don’t care what the doctors say!
Rebecca Jo
Can I saw – I love you talked about your hemorrhoids. Real life man… its a pain sometimes.
ALL THE SHOES!!! That’s so funny you stocked up for YEARS to come for your girl.
I want a job I can wear gym clothes to work!!!
Love that kimono!!!
& a manicure at 3am? haha – at least you were productive when you cant get sleep.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for supporting my rather blunt discussion of hemorrhoids. But you know what? Someone emailed me to thank me and to ask more about what I used to feel better! I don’t mean to pedal meds or cures but if my OTC meds can help someone else, then yay!!!
Lucia won’t want for sandals until she is full-grown, that’s for sure. And her mommy/my daughter buys items like cardigans the same way…in every size. When she likes something, she really, really likes it! And wants one in every color and size.
Looking for a fall kimono, if you happen to see one. I should have a contest and see who can find the best fall kimono for me! I want one in fall colors with maple and oak leaves or acorns. Wish I could make one myself! But I don’t sew a stitch. Just know what I want.

These posts are so much fun to read. It’s like chatting over coffee. I’m sorry your daughter isn’t feeling well. The angel is a sweet idea. I lost a baby before my twins were born and it never gets easy. Everyone else has forgotten but I haven’t… Yay for more than doubling your quota at work. It sounds like things are working out for you. I’m so happy for you. You and your husband have the same issue as military couples. It’s hard to adjust after a return because you both get used to doing things your way and no matter how much we who are left behind may think things have stayed the same, they really haven’t. Be gentle with each other.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, you. Wise, wise you. Love that you encouraged us to be gentle with one another now that PC is home from working out of town. Things are kinder and gentler around here this weekend. Thank goodness. You are right, things at home don’t remain the same while our partner is away. Nothing in life really stays the same, unaffected by change. When I was married to my daughters’ father, we were stationed in Panama. He had to deploy to Costa Rica and Honduras and was gone for some time. The evening he returned, I dressed the girls up to go pick up their dad. When they saw him, my youngest, less than two at the time, asked who he was. Military families have such struggles.
I am sorry you lost a baby, too. I imagine there is always a little hole in your heart from that loss. I would like to believe someday you will hold that baby close.
Terri Webster Schrandt
I appreciate your honesty in reading about your days, Leslie! Sounds like your life is full whether hubby is home or not, but you miss him when he’s gone. I hope everything with your daughter gets better soon and I blinked when I read you are still dealing with your swimming pool! But even through these tribulations, your faith and positive energy shine through you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Terri, for the encouraging words about my sentences a day for September. I cannot believe that we are still dealing with this pool, either. What a nightmare. With no end in sight. Lauren is on the upswing again. Thank you for your well wishes.
Natalie
That was a full month, Leslie, and you managed everything mostly on your own so give yourself a pat on the back. Lucia is so cute in her dress-up. I hope you and everyone in your family feel well by now. Happy belated anniversary!
Andrea@WellnessNotes
Lucia is set with sandals for a while! 🙂 I love the wedding photo! Happy belated Anniversary!
