It’s your lucky day, girls. A crazy 2-post day! Shared my Wellness Wednesday, 06.2018, earlier and now I am linking up with Anne and her co-host this month, Sarah from Total Basset Case to share what we’re currently exploring, grilling, planting, playing, traveling. Let’s get to it, time’s a-wastin’!
How to write a picture book. Using these resources. Am back and forth between 2 stories that I have been puzzling over for years. Hoping these books will help me get at least one of them written this summer from beginning to end.
Chicken breasts, cutting them up and adding them to greens and fresh fruit for a delicious summer salad. Found the original recipe on Skinny Ms. and pinned it here. As always, I just used the recipe as a jumping off place and kind of did my own thing. It would easy to use rotisserie chick for this but we like our chicken marinated and grilled. The marinade I use is kind of my own creation…some soy sauce (1/3 cup?), garlic powder (1 teaspoon?), sesame oil (1 tablespoon), a little brown sugar (1 tablespoon?) and maybe a little teriyaki sauce or Hoisin sauce (1-2 tablespoons). Never measured the ingredients before but that should be close. Add a couple of chicken breasts and the marinade to a zip-lock bag. Marinate for several hours or overnight. Grill, turning several times. Dice the chicken and add to this Grilled Chicken and Blueberry Salad recipe.
Borrowing the Skinny Ms. photo because I never have taken a picture of my own salad. Maybe I will share it on a Tasty Tuesday post soon. Delicious!! PC loves it, too.
Pinwheel flowers in my summer wheelbarrow. But the wind has been tornadic! So, I had to bring my posies in and glue gun their little petals back on. Picked these up at Dollar Tree. Going to get one extra to have on hand in case the wind plays “he loves me, he loves me not” with my pinwheels again.
The Wife Between Us on my phone via Audible while I take my morning walk. And on my Nook before bed. Got a wild hair and started a summer virtual book club. Really stepping out of my comfort zone with this! Had so many sweet FB friends join me to read this book, which they picked for our first read. Now I need to get my slow-readin’ butt in gear! Some of the gals finished the book in 2 days. WHAT? If you are interested in checking out the book yourself, click here to read the first 4 chapters FREE!!

To Fort Worth for Brennyn and Mustafa’s 3-day Afghanistan wedding celebration extravaganza. Will be leaving next Thursday. The festivities begin Friday night with a special henna ceremony and dinner. Saturday night will be a wedding reception and the couple will repeat their vows. They were officially married in Las Vegas in May. And Sunday, the families will get together to eat all of the leftover food. My kind of weekend.
Here is my daughter Brennyn Alexis and her husband Mustafa. I give you, Mr. and Mrs. Mustafa Orya.
Will be anxious to share more about the wedding festivities in an upcoming post. My Cadence Ellie and my Lucia Carolina are going to be ring bearer and flower girl, respectively. Can’t wait!!
Tell me true, what’s going on in your world currently? What have you been exploring, grilling, planting, playing, traveling? I love a good grilling recipe, and I am always looking for ideas for playing and exploring. The planting part is hard because I seem to kill everything (with the exception of plastic pinwheels) that I plant.
Would love to have you join me for the summer challenge. Registration closes this Friday, 06.08 and the first outfits will be shared the following Monday. There’s such a great camaraderie among the gals who do these challenges. We share our versions of each outfit in a closed FB group that is so supportive! If you’ve never treated yourself to anything like this, I invite you to try it out!
Hugs and kisses,
