Hey Dolls!
Today’s post All Glammed Up and No Place to Go, another Style Me Bloggers link-up, required me to think outside of my closet because truth is there is not a whole lotta glamorous goin’ on in there. This princess hasn’t been to a ball since ’75. And even if I still had that ball gown, I wouldn’t be able to get my big toe in it.
To prepare, I decided to do a little virtual shopping through Polyvore. My plan was to come up with an imaginary red carpet look for Sunday night’s 2015 Oscars that I will not be attending. I was like a kid in a candy shop as I played on Polyvore.
Talk about stress-free shopping! Every dress I “tried” FIT perfectly. And made me look sensational. Hugged my curves, accentuated my positives…almost as if I was a runaway model or a headless mannequin. And best of all, everything I liked was within my budget! Even the Anthropologie black onyx and diamond, round drops in 14k yellow gold, a mere $1,118.00. Yup, even those.
So here’s the little outfit I threw together.
neimanmarcus.com $663 (You only have to pay this once. The price includes the front and the back of the dress!)
I ran over to Pinterest real quick to have my hair done. I am not the kinda gal who spends a lot of time on her hair. Bet you’d never have guessed. But true statement. I couldn’t see spending real money to go to a salon when I could have any ‘do I choose for free. I did contemplate going blonde and long, but why tease my Prince Charming with hair that I will never have. Not that my hair is any more likely to look like this either. But I am trying to keep things real.
Hey, this totally works out because this hair do came with blue eyes. And I have blue eyes. And it comes with a Snow White complexion. I might have to keep my hair like this even after the Oscars.
You might be wondering where the inspiration for my red carpet glam came from. Funny you would ask. I based this formal look on the outfit I wore on Valentine’s Day to our church dinner and dance…the closet thing to a ball this princess has been to in four decades.
Here is that little number.
Dress BCBG MAX AZARIA, whatever that is. $109
Shoes Fiona from Payless. $17
Jewelry from Charming Charlie’s. $21
Clutch from Charming Charlie’s. Gift from my daughter Lauren.
Love my little coat. Elle from Kohl’s, $30.
For a grand total of $177.00. Chicken feed. Well, not really. I rarely spend this much on a dress.
Last but not least, here is my PC, my Prince Charming, in his Valentine’s Day outfit. Doesn’t he make you swoon? His jacket and blue dress shirt are from Men’s Wearhouse. His pants are from Haggar. The necktie was the one he wore when we got married which just so happened to match my dress(es). As my granddaughter Cady says, “GrandPaul is a handsome boy!” I agree.
Please stop by the blogs of my Style Me friends to see them dressed to the nines for Sunday’s big event. Be watching for me on Sunday night. I will be sure to give you all a shout-out from the red carpet.

Very entertaining again! You could style me an outfit any day. The only thing I would request that you include in my red carpet outfit would be a bag to carry my snooty little dog. Your outfits looked great. To quote Cadie again….
“You’re so faaancy!”
