Sweet readers and fellow writers…welcome to Write 28 Days 02.01.2022. Here we go, the first of what I hope will be a month’s worth of posts for the #write28days challenge. Joining Anita Ojeda for this series. Coming before you to make the commitment to write and post EVERY DAY in February. That’s a whoppin’ 28 days of writing and posting. Makes me tired just typing it. Already worried I may not be able to keep up with this commitment but I am going to give it the old college try.
On Wednesdays We Write
Last Wednesday I announced my writing attentions for the year. You can read the full post, here. But to summarize – successfully complete Write 28 with Anita, to join Marsha now and then for her Writer’s Quotes Wednesdays, to continue using Maria’s fabulous monthly and seasonal writing prompts, to use the book Adventures in Writing by Melissa Donovan for additional inspiration. And maybe even write straight from my own life!!
And I will be continuing my regular posts, so somedays my #write28days might just be a Thankful Thursday post. That’s still writing, right?
Write 28 Days 01.2022
With the first day of each month comes a new list of daily journaling prompts through Maria at Krafty Planner. I like to print out the month’s list and tuck it in my journal. Although I don’t journal every day, I do try to write on the prompts as part of my journaling on those days I write.
To kick off the second month of the year, today’s prompt is:
What do you want to do this month? Write your goals for the month and think about what you need to do to accomplish them.
This month I would like to:
- complete this challenge…duh!!
- figure out an overnight getaway for PC and me
- begin the #100DayProject on 02.13.2022
- incorporate my word of the year (WOTY) into my daily life, read more here
- get out my keyboard and start playing again
- purge 20 things
- list 10 items of clothing on Poshmark
The Details
Here the how and why of my goals above.
Complete #write28days
Simple. Write a post every day for the month of February. The posts probably won’t be quality literature. But I have promised myself to make 2022 the year I write. And this is a great way to kick things off.
In order to make it happen, I will need to set aside at least an hour of uninterrupted time – probably more – to devote to writing. Have been subbing too much to make that easily doable. Need to cut back on subbing for the month.
Figure Out an Overnight Getaway
Pick a place and go. Sounds easy enough. But now to make it happen. PC’s birthday is the last day of the month. So might hold off on realizing this goal until then.
Marsha has been blogging about a recent visit to Wickenburg, Arizona. It sounds like a charming place for a weekend getaway. It’s a 7-hour drive, though. So not somewhere we could dash off for an overnight stay. Would require more like a long weekend. Amtrak runs to Wickenburg. I would LOVE to take the train!! And it is only an hour longer by train than by car. That would be great fun!!
Begin the #100dayproject
I participated (or thought I did) in this last year. But I didn’t realize that you are supposed to devote at least 5 minutes on your project EACH day. Instead, I completed a project I had begun previous to the challenge over the 100 days of the challenge. Finished my mosaic. This year I need to play by the books, now that I understand the rules.
Right now I am thinking I will run a mile a day. Might change my mind if I think of something better. But I figure running a mile a day is something I can do fairly easily every day for 100 days. It requires nothing more than 10-12 minutes of my time a day. And has no financial obligation…other than the running tennies I bought a few weeks ago.
Incorporate Flow Into My Life
Many days I let things – LIFE – get to me. Things like the blender leaking all over the kitchen, struggling to button my blouse (old fingers combined with Lyme Disease), my car not starting can set me off in a pessimistic spiral to the depths of despair. I have to learn to let it go, let it go….
Going to find ways to remind myself to go with the flow. And write about my journey throughout the year. Bible verses and quotes that remind me to stop sweating the (semi) small stuff. Ways to tackle the despair and anxiety.
Get Out My Keyboard and Play
This one is for PC’s mom, May. I bought a keyboard when I retired. Thought I would sit down and play. Ha!! Have forgotten most everything I knew. But practice makes perfect.
Going to look into an app or program to refresh my knowledge of music and the piano. Maybe Simply Piano.
Purge 20 Things
We are drowning in stuff. I love having precious things around our home but we have a whole lotta semi-precious stuff laying around with a little junk thrown in. Time to get serious about getting rid of some of this stuff. I love what I love but the rest can go bye-bye.
I have been tossing decorations. Have made good progress in that department. Now I need to attack my closet and drawers (again). The kitchen. And clean up the garage one more time.
List 10 Things on Poshmark
Have sold one item on Poshmark. Now to thin out my closet (see above) and make some money on things that are just gathering dust.
I hang onto clothes just because I once loved them and wore them. And in some ways what does it matter if I keep all of my clothes without purging a single piece? But if someone could be wearing the clothes rather than having them hang in my closet going unworn, that would be so much better. If I don’t sell them, I can reevaluate whether I want to return them to my closet or donate them.
And there are my goals for this month.
Your Turn
What goals do you have for the month? I usually make seasonal goals and these may be activities I will tackle over the remainder of winter rather than trying to get them all ticked off by 02.28. Hope you will stop back by now and then to see how I am progressing.
Off to bed. Doing the snow dance like there’s no tomorrow in hopes that the winter storm headed our way brings some accumulation to our community. Just one good snow and then spring can spring!!
Hugs and kisses,

I am in the mood to purge, purge, and purge some more! It feels so good to let it all go. And I hear you about FLOW too- yes, letting things go mentally as well. Hard to do sometimes but it takes practice and we are worth it. I hope you and PC get away for a night or weekend!
xo,
Kellyann

I really need to clean out some things but I’m lazy! I like the run a mile a day goal. For awhile we were walking a mile a day but the weather effects that – it’s a snowy one out today!

Sounds like it is going to be a productive – if not super busy – month! I’m excited to read how it goes…will be visiting the whole month:) Will you have time to read all your comments? Just kidding. I’m impressed!!
