Morning glories, welcome to today’s post, Where Bloggers Live 07.2025: My Skin Care Routine. In the past, I have written a couple of posts about my skin care (and lack thereof) so for today, I gleened the highlights of those posts and added the regimen I am using for now. I always have the best of intentions, and do faithfully wash my face several times a day but I am just not all that interested in trying to battle Father Time.
Here we go…
Where Bloggers Live Series
The idea for this colorful series originated with our adventurous leader, Bettye, at Fashion Schlub. She describes this series as being kind of like HGTV’s “Celebrities at Home,” but…with bloggers! Every month, Bettye challenges the six WBL bloggers with a prompt that invites us to reflect on our lives, dreams and memories. You can find some of my other 2025 Where Bloggers Live posts, here:
Hope you will be sure to pop in to visit my WBL buddies with me. They are:
Bettye at Fashion Schlub
Daenel at Living Outside the Stacks
Em at Dust and Doghair
Iris at Iris’ Original Ramblings
Jodie at Jodie’s Touch of Style
Sally at Within a World of My Own

Where Bloggers Live 07.2025
Today’s prompt is ‘my skincare routine.’ For me, there’s not a whole lot to write about there. And yet…I’ve written to that prompt at least twice before!! Rather than reinvent the wheel, I am going to share the links to those previous posts and then share a couple of things I am doing now to protect my skin.
Just a reminder: Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After occasionally uses affiliate links which are usually italicized. If you click or make a purchase from an italicized link provided I may receive a very small commission at no cost to you. Thank you for your support.

My Skin Care Routine
Interestingly, the 2 earlier posts I wrote about my skin care regimen were both published in the spring of 2018. Not sure what was going on with me then that had me writing 2 posts on the exact same topic. But I did.
Wellness Wednesday, 05.2018: Goals Update, Skin & Beauty Tips
I gave a general update on the progress I had made of my wellness goals at the time. I devoted one section to Skin and Beauty Tips. The biggest take away from that post was learning to love yourself and love the skin you’re in. That and smiling!! A smile is a powerful way to enhance your natural beauty. In that post, I shared some quotes about smiling I found on Proverbicals and will reshare them here:
A smile is worth a thousand words. ~ American Proverb
Smiles that you broadcast will always come back to you. ~ Indian Proverb
The man who gives little with a smile gives more than the man who gives much with a frown. ~ Jewish Proverb
Every smile makes you a day younger. ~ Chinese Proverb
Thinking maybe if I smile big enough, no one will notice my skin!!
Save the Skin You’re In: Glossies Made Me Do It, 06.2018
This post was based on an article I read in a “Parents Magazine”, 05.2018. One of the biggest take aways was how quickly you can incur sun damage. In just 10 minutes!! And UV light can be harmful even in the shade. Did you know UV light can be reflected onto your face from your phone screen?? True story!! But apparently, those issues can be addressed with the use of a phone umbrella!! A what?? Yup, a phone umbrella. Thinking I need to add this one to my Amazon cart right now.
Most surprising of all the information provided, was that people tend to miss 10% of their face when they apply sunscreen. In (re)writing or updating the information for this post, I decided to investigate that statement. And it seems that might even be an underestimate of our inability to appropriately apply sunscreen.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AAD), most adults need 1 ounce (enough to fill a shot glass) of sunscreen to cover exposed skin on the whole body. But, they add, most people apply only 25 to 50 percent of that amount. [source]
In addition, we tend to completely forget to put sunscreen on ears, eyelids (guilty), scalp, lips, hands, feet, neck and chest. I’ve become more aware of putting it on my hands and feet. But both appendages have suffered soooo much damage already. Trying hard to do better. Maybe I need to measure out my sunscreen in a shot glass before applying it.
My Skin Care Routine Today

Seven years have come and gone since I wrote the 2 posts above. I am now 67 years old. And I thought I had sunspots and wrinkles in 2018. Ha!!
While I would love to turn back time and reverse sundamage, I am realistic that isn’t really possible. What I do these days is wear sunscreen on my face and neck. Every. Single. Day. I use No7 Restore & Renew Multi Action Face & Neck Cream – Anti Aging Face Moisturizer with SPF 30. That’s a mouthful. I order it on Amazon and this week, it is a Prime Day Deal. Lightweight, sheer and it offers good sun protection.
At night, when I am so inclined, I apply RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Anti-Aging Night Cream. I don’t see a big improvement in my wrinkles and fine lines but I also don’t use the product on a daily or nightly basis. Maybe I should up my game?? Or maybe it just isn’t that important to me.
And I always use an antibacterial bar soap like Irish Spring to wash my face. In the shower and at the lavatory. When I was a teen, I had a fine splattering of acne on my forehead and the dermatologist told me to start washing with antibacterial soap. Never looked back. I hear it’s good for hands, too!!
My Facebook feed is littered with ads for CrepeErase. Have you seen that product, or set of products advertised everywhere lately? I looked into purchasing it but at over $40, it was out of my budget. Instead, I put on my librarian’s cap and researched the best products for crepey skin. Not to be confused with creepy skin. This article at OprahDaily.com rates 10 products designed to address this issue. The third option on the list was Gold Bond Age Renew Ultimate Crepe Corrector which I promptly tossed into my Amazon cart. Have just begun using it but I think it has made a difference already.
And with that, I am going to call this a wrap.
Your Turn
Do you have favorite skin care products and a routine for using them? Or are you more like me…kind of hit or miss?? Won’t you share your favorite tip in a comment below?
I tell you, girls, I am just about to throw in the towel with this blogging business. Continuing to have issues with the email plugin responsible for sending excerpts of my latest posts to subscribers. And now I have some kind of security notification. Just don’t have the patience or money or knowledge to continue to battle with these problems.
Off to bed…but let me leave you with this thought.
A smile is a light in the window of the soul indicating that the heart is at home.
That’s more iimportant to me than skin care.
Thank you for stopping by. Enjoy your weekend. Do something that makes you smile.
Hugs and kisses,
