I have been following a number of blogs through Bloglovin’ and I am so thankful that I can easily access all of my favs through that one site. This week I am joining up with a couple of great bloggers I follow, Carrie at Curly Crafty Mom and Sherri at God Life Happy Wife for a post about an outfit that I have put together to express my individual fashion style.
Ha! Until recently I would have said that post would have been all about my birthday suit because I didn’t think I had any other personal style. But through the Style Me Pretty Challenges, I have begun to develop my own fashion sense. I am just beginning to be confident enough to take the capsule pieces from the fall and winter shopping lists and create a look that is all my own.
Feels good.
Feels like I am all grown up.
This is my first What Wives Wear outfit.
I wore this outfit on my third day substituting as an elementary school librarian. I felt polished and put together and rather unstereotypical…which may or may not be a real word.
Here are the pieces of the outfit, up close and personal.
Now that I have posted these pics side-by-side I realize how much the color is off from one image to the next. The color in the picture in the middle is probably the most true. The shirt is more coral than pink so closer to the color in the picture on the left.
Here’s the low down on the pieces in my outfit.
- Coral long sleeved shirt – Old Navy online
- Embellished heather sweatshirt – Nordstrom online
- Coral, gray, brown, cream tweed-y skirt – LOFT Outlet
- Gun metal knee high boots – Out of my closet…originally purchase about 10 years ago in Tennessee
- Statement watch – Steinmart
- Earrings – Kohl’s
This outfit was comfortable and warm without smothering me when a hot flash hit. I did worry a little about mixing the gold-tone on the watch with the silvery-platinum color of the stones and embellishments on the sweatshirt. But apparently, all of the old fashion no-nos I grew up on have been thrown out the window. Gold can be worn with silver. Stripes with polka dots. Casual can be accessorized with loads of bling.
Who knew?
I hope Sherri and Carrie will continue their Thursday What Wives Wear posts in the new year so I can continue to practice
dressing myself by myself.
P.S. I have no idea why those pictures are so ENORMOUS. I selected ‘thumbnails’ and got these –
Jolly Green Giant thumbnail-sized pictures.
Hugs and sticky kisses,
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
Thanks so much for linking up with us, you are too sweet! I just love that embellished sweatshirt, Nordstrom has great clothes!! I have an embellished sweatshirt, but it is from ON. It looks great layered over that coral shirt!
