What I’m Wearing Lately 11.2019

wearing lately

Fashionistas and friends, coming to you straight from my fashion haus to share what I’m wearing lately 11.2019.  I’ve been subbing a couple of days a week this month.  Gotta make that money!  And it gives me an opportunity to get dressed up a little bit more than I would for a day at home with the kitties.

What I’m Wearing Lately 11.2019

One of the activities on my 2019 autumn bucket list was: Share at least 6 outfits from GYPO fall challenge for My Fashion Haus posts.  Which I did, here.  But have really enjoyed some of the looks I’ve put together using the pieces from the GYPO fall capsule wardrobe and my fall Stitch Fix.  So decided it was time to share again.

Just a reminder:  Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After occasionally uses affiliate links. This means that if you click on a link provided I may receive a very small commission.  Thank you for your support!

Stitch Fix Buffalo Plaid Cardigan

One of my favorite pieces from the GYPO fall capsule shopping list is a plaid blazer.  When I signed up for my fall Stitch Fix, I requested a plaid blazer from my stylist.  Promptly forgetting that, I went out and bought one at H&M.  So when I saw this Buffalo plaid cardigan or sweater, I was relieved that it was completely different from what I had already bought for myself.  I never think to buy red.  Not sure why that is.  This piece is making me rethink that.

Buffalo plaid

Leo & Nicole Syd open knit Buffalo plaid cardigan (similar, similar), H&M black turtle neck sweater (exact, similar), Old Navy mid-rise Rockstar jeans (exact, similar).

Old Navy Bright Colored Pull-Over Sweater

Alison, at Get Your Pretty On, added a bright colored pull-over sweater to the fall capsule wardrobe shopping list.  I ordered 2 lightweight sweaters from J.Crew Factory but fell in love with this more affordable chunky knit pull-over from Old Navy.  Naturally, I had to buy it, too.  All of this before we realized that PC’s job was in jeopardy much sooner than we were originally told.  Might have to cut up these babies and eat them now.

Pull-over

Old Navy chunky knit sweater (similar, similar) paired with a Loft Outlet corduroy skirt (exact, similar), gray tights, patent lace-up shoes, and a Loft Outlet paisley scarf.

H&M Plaid Blazer

This is the plaid blazer that I ran out to buy after asking for one in my fall Fix.  Visited it at H&M twice before buying it.  Kept hoping it would go on sale because the $49.99 price tag was a little more than I wanted to pay.  But it was one of the nicest blazers I had seen.  Fully lined, slightly over-sized, double-breasted.  Oh, and shoulder pads!!

In the photo below, I wasn’t trying to ‘pose’ with a glance into the distance.  I was truly distracted by all of the adorable things in La Placita market.

Wore my blazer (similar, similar) with Loft Outlet skinny jeans and long sleeved tee, H&M leopard socks, and Dr. Scholl’s booties (similar, similar) .

Banana Republic Wide-Leg Jeans

When I saw these wide leg jeans on the GYPO shopping list, I said ‘heck, no.’  And didn’t think about them again until I was in Banana Republic and came across this pair.  Decided it wouldn’t hurt to just try them on.  Lauren and Lucia who were shopping with me, gave them 4 thumbs up.  I did, too.  Have you tried this throw-back trend?

wide-leg jeans

This outfit is straight off the fall capsule wardrobe playbook.  Banana Republic wide leg jeans (exact, similar), Loft chambray shirt (similar, similar), gray H&M duster and leopard flats.

Can you tell where we are in the photo above?  Here’s a hint…it is Sunday and we have just come from church.  Yup, we are at the outlet mall.  Our favorite place to get steps on Sundays.  And on this particular Sunday we met up with Lauren and Lucia.

I have 3 sub jobs this week.  Last Friday’s half-day assignment with first graders about did me in.  Oh, man!  But I caught my breath this past weekend.  Ready to get back at it.  Tomorrow, I sub for third grade, Wednesday will be a class of 3 year-olds.  An entire class of Cias.  Thursday is second grade, my favorite grade of all.  At a campus where I subbed as the librarian for months.

Your Turn

What have you enjoyed wearing this fall?  Anything unexpected like my wide leg jeans? Check out some of my other fall outfits built around my October Stitch Fix, here.

I’m always inspired to try something new each season through the Get Your Pretty On seasonal capsule wardrobe challenges.  And guess what?  The winter capsule wardrobe will be opening on Good Friday.  That’s right, 11.29.2019!  Will be sharing my affiliate link very soon and inviting you to register and join me for the fun.  Stay tuned!!

Linking up with Laura, Carrie and Jill, Gail, Jennie, Nancy and Kellyann and the gang.

Hugs and kisses,

leslie

Leslie, I love your every day style! I can’t pick a favorite because they’re all that good and I’ wear each one. I really love you in those wide leg jeans from BR! Love how you styled them. It’s such a modern and chic look. Of course I could love that photo because of your two cutie patootie human accessories!

Love your many looks, Leslie. And you’re making me rethink the wider leg jeans. They look fabulous on you…! I love skinnies because it takes the guesswork out of the shoes, BUT…the wide legs look so classy and polished!

I didn’t “participate” much, i.e., at all, in the GYPO challenges, but I did enjoy the wardrobe guidance and checking in on the Facebook group. You really seem to be a leader in the pack! Made me look forward to checking in…you did a great job!

You are so kind. I think rather than being the leader in the pack of GYPO challengers, I am the grandmother!! Ha! I have been with GYPO since the first challenge and remember watching as girls – young girls – began joining the FB group. Girls younger than my daughters. I became the welcoming committee and room mother!! Thank you for your sweet comment.

I actually feel better in my wide leg jeans than my skinnies which have never been all that skinny. I am a curvy girl with wider hips and a narrower waist. Seems that the wide leg silhouette is more flattering to my shape. Would love if fashion would stop dictating which style is in and just embrace women wearing whatever they like and feel most comfortable in.

Thank you, sweet Juhli. I think the colors and the silhouettes that are popular this season spoke to me. Really like my cord skirt and the purples and pinks (even though I am a green girl) I have seen everywhere.

Thank you, friend. I have really gotten excited about some of the pieces that were popular for fall. Love the colors and textures, too!! Our winter is like a Part 2 of autumn, for the most part, so hoping whatever is new and fun for winter won’t be for terribly cold climates.

Thank you so much. I worried a bit about the shoes because they were not pink, oxblood or Bordeaux. They were a deep purple!! But picked up colors in my paisley scarf. Still, an awful lot of colors going on! Ha! But I did like this skirt outfit and appreciate your sweet compliments. Headed over to visit your blog. I am glad to make a new friend!

Thank you so much for the sweet words. Our winters are mild enough that a blazer will be enough wrap for most days. Glad to have found some reasonably priced pieces at H&M.

Yes, I did see your post! It’s funny, living in El Paso is like living under a rock. I haven’t seen anyone here wearing wide leg pants. I think the folks here see me in mine and think I am set in some kind of time warp from the 20s, 50s or maybe the mid-90s. I love them and felt very style forward in them around town!!

I just got a bright pink sweater from J. Crew outlet, I love how you styled yours! That is nice to sub a bit and to try out various grades. I had to laugh when you said the 1st graders wore you out. That is how I felt when we had all the girls in Autumn’s class over for a sleepover. I could barely function the next two days, I was that tired!

I remember the wide legs from years ago, too. When straight legs became popular, I made all kinds of faces and comments about wearing them. Then I did. When skinnies came in style, same thing. And turns out what I thought I was wearing as skinny was not skinny enough by most gals’ standards. Now we have the wide legs back again. I made a face and rude comments all the way into the dressing room where I fell in love with them again. I think for curvy, wide-hipped gals like me they are very flattering. Glad to have them back again.

Lookin good Leslie…I have NO NEED to substitute; I’m too glad to be out of education at this point. But, who knows, maybe some day. Understand that your finances may be changing soon so I get it. Subbing is an easy gig, especially when you know the school and the faculty.

I have enjoyed most of my sub jobs and will continue to sub for teachers and classes I know. But to go into a foreign classroom where I have been called only an hour beforehand, is terrifying to me. I like having assignments WAAAAAYYYY in advance!
