Hey Friends!
Joining up with Becky for a quick peek into what is currently going on in our neck of the woods. Please stop by Choose Happy to read about the #doterraalive conference Becky attended in Salt Lake City last week. And pics of her beautiful babies are always a treat.
Here’s what I am up to currently:
Gloating over today’s Fit Bit numbers. I don’t know about you, but this grandma is tired tonight and it has nothing to do with being a grandma. I worked as a sub for a third grade teacher friend of mine, thank you Monica, and walked over 9,000 steps of my daily 10K before 3:15 when school was out.
Check this out!
Step-wise, this wasn’t my best day ever, but it is rare that I get over 10,000 steps without going to the gym. And that all of that was done in nude BCBG heels, thank you mucho. My poor feet are tired tonight.
Basking in the warm reception I received today. I was back at the school where I last worked before I retired in December 2013. H.R. Moye Elementary School. I haven’t shared all of the details about my retirement here with you because until now, it has been very hard for me to talk about without crying. I didn’t want to the get your laptop or iPad or smart phone all wet with my tears! Might short things out! But today was healing, very cathartic (which I always spell and pronounce cathargic…sounds better!).
Maybe I will be able to share my story soon.
I was so touched that many of the children remembered me and the faculty and staff, and even some of the mommies were so sweet and welcoming (me back). This pic was snapped by one of my favorite fourth graders. See those heels?
Enjoying cooler temperatures. After over 100 consecutive days with temps above 90 degrees, I am delighted that fall is starting to move into the Sun City. PC and I even slept with our balcony door open over the weekend and I had to pull up the covers in the middle of the night. In preparation for my upcoming post on The Blended Blog about my favorite summer-into-fall fashion transition piece, I decided to go shopping. I am calling it research, just in case PC asks.
Here’s a little sampling of some research I did at Old Navy and Loft Outlet.
Waiting for the yellow plaid popover to come in the mail from Old Navy’s recent sale. Drooling over the colors of those lace tees. Dreaming about that leopard topper. Craving those butterscotch curvy, skinny jeans. All from Loft Outlet where I can be seen posing in the dressing room.
Coveting this entire outfit below. And now that I have seen the shopping list for the GYPO Fall Style 2015 fashion challenge, I am thinking I might have to figure out some way to bring it home with me.
Confession: that darling, long-sleeved tee might have followed me home. Just turned around in the driveway and it was there.
If you haven’t signed up for the challenge, sure wish you would! Come play dress up with me, and a few hundred other fashionistas. Early bird registration is open through September 17 and regular registration opens the following day. Click here to register and I will throw in a Starbucks gift card to help you stay caffeinated and hydrated while you gather the shopping list pieces.

Revisiting some of my favorite looks from last year’s GYPO Fall Style 2014 challenge. I am thankful for Pinterest and this blog where I share pictures of my favorite outfits. After seeing pictures of the Day 1 outfit from last fall, I put together a similar look to wear to sub for a fifth grade class on Friday.
Orange and grey striped tee, Loft Outlet. Grey straight leg jean, Loft. Brown booties from DSW. Charming Charlie’s fall floral scarf and statement watch. Three state bangle bracelets from my BFF Sharon.
Worrying about my fantasy football teams. Tough, tough first week. Watching the Minnesota Vikings and my QB Bridgewater make a world of mistakes against the San Francisco 49ers. Better luck next week?
Yawning. It is fast approaching my beddy bye time so I will bid you a good night and a great week. If you are interested in joining the fall challenge fun, please click the affiliate link below to register and receive your Starbucks gift card.

10000 steps??? thats awesome!

Oh, I have been doing really lousy at the stepping lately. Was doing waaaay over 10K everyday. But I have hurt my hip and haven’t been able to get to the gym or walk like I was. Hope next week will be better. It is amazing how keeping track of every step inspires you to try to do more, make more trips up and down the stairs, park further away from the entrance to the store.

Thank you, Carrie. It was good to be around the sweet babies and friends I loved at my former school. It was so heart-warming that the babies remembered me! Someday I will talk more about my retirement.
