Hey, Dolls!
Always like to start my week out with a Currently post.
Linking up with Becky at Choose Happy for this series about what we are up to currently.
And here’s what I am up to currently:
Enjoying a day off. I worked the first two weeks of school as a substitute librarian at Crosby Elementary School, thanks to Rosa, the Crosby librarian who wanted to enjoy a little more time home with her new baby. I really enjoyed my time with the faculty, staff and students there and wound up my last day with 12 classes! Whew. Rosa also asked me to work on bulletin boards for her. Love doing that! Here are my end results.
And to go along with enjoying a day off….getting ready to take a nap. With PC. He was called into work last night just as we were sitting down to dinner. He had to go in to in-process over 130 foreign nationals visiting Ft. Bliss as a part of a joint exercise. No one else was able to be reached to assist him so I went into work with him. PC in-processed and I created badges for the visiting soldiers. I was so impressed with how he handled all of the glitches that came up. We were there until almost midnight. PC was allowed to come home early today and is already asleep. I am about to join him.
Drafting my fantasy football teams. Last year I created a family fantasy football league “The Family Feud” and members of my family and PC’s joined us for the season. We had a lot of fun. I think every team took a turn at the lead at some point. This year our Family Feud draft took place Saturday late afternoon. In addition, PC and I have had fantasy football teams for years on a league sponsored by some of the members of our former church. The draft for that league was Friday night at a neighborhood steak restaurant. My teams are the Chicharones (fried pork skins in Spanish) and PalePinkPorkBellies. Girl Power! Pork Power!
Cheering on my Prince Charming every Saturday as he plays baseball. PC plays third base for the Cougars, in the International 50 And Older Baseball League, check it out here. I think our team has the largest number of fans who consistently turn out for the games. My friend Marg and I are the number one cheerleaders for the Cougars followed by our mutual friend Bea who has to work some Saturdays or would be right out there with us. Here are a couple of shots from recent games.
Playing too much Wordament. Have you heard of it? Wordament is a free, online word game sponsored by XBox. My Prince has been playing for about a month. I kept hearing these tings and bings coming from his laptop and attributed them to Candy Crush, which he enjoyed playing for months. But when I finally asked about the cacophony coming from his computer, he confessed to playing Wordament. I now have it downloaded on my lap top (Nook and phone, too, but don’t tell, PC). I am a really poor player. I attribute my single-syllable vocabulary to being a mommy now for 31 years and an elementary school librarian for almost as long. But PC has a great vocabulary and beats me handily every round.
By the way, TubularEel70905 was the name I was given by the infinitely insightful and wise folks at XBox. I wasn’t feeling it so have changed it to mommyhon333. There. That’s much better.
Looking forward to working and volunteering some more. Will be back at Crosby mid-week as a first grade sub for a friend, Shannon, and in the Hawkins library for my sweet friend Martha on Friday. Also planning to work in the Holocaust museum library on Thursday. Have been contacted about volunteering with the El Paso Assistance League, too. Love having new experiences.
Starting the Rediscover Me Challenge with Alison Lumbatis tomorrow, on my first day of fall. My own private first day of fall, September 1. I know the official day isn’t until the end of the month but what a great day to start this challenge again. If you are reading this before midnight on August 31, there’s still time for you to register, too! Come on, do this with me!!! Hurry, click here to sign up.
That’s what’s goin’ on up in here!
What are you up to currently?
Before I leave you for today, I have one more quote to share for my third and final Monday Quote Challenge. Thank you, Katie at The Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life, for tagging me on the challenge.
This is something I found on Pinterest, not sure who to credit, but it is so thought-provoking. I need to think of it every single day and remember to give God my gratitude for the life and blessings I have been given.
Hugs and kisses,
Wendy B
Your bulletin boards turned out great! I’ve been enjoying my girls last weeks of summer break, they go back next week. Hate to see summer end. Have a great week Leslie!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Wendy. I kind of hated to see summer end but I am ready for cooler temps. And I love fall clothing. Are you doing the fall challenge? Hope so. Hope your both of your babies have great school years. XO
Lana
I love what you’ve been up to! You should definitely give Assistance League a try. I’ve been volunteering with them for 20 years and they’re a wonderful organization!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay!!! Figures you would volunteer with the Assistance League. You do such wonderful, motivational, helper things. Does your AL give children clothing for back-to-school? That is one of the programs that drew me to volunteering with our AL. Toured the facility today. It is HUGE! Will be trying to help out on the days they distribute school uniforms as part of their Operation School Bell.

Can’t wait to hear about the Rediscover me challenge!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Well, we are underway with the Rediscover Me Challenge and I am behind already. I just stay behind. Behind and late. It is interesting to see how my goals have shifted since the first go-round in February. I think I am growing (up). XO

Did you try Wordament? I love it but it is addictive. I have to really limit myself. Thank you for the compliments on my bulletin boards. I have always done boards with fabric backgrounds but always drew pictures using pastels to the images on my boards. I threw my pastels away when I reluctantly retired. Maybe I need to buy a new set. If you sign up for Wordament, look for me. I am mommyhon333 and always at the bottom! XO

i seriously love reading your posts. You are so funny.

You are so sweet. I have never thought of myself as funny but I like it!!! I think I am just nuts, crazy, bananas. Which has served me well throughout my crazy, nutty life.
