Readers and writers, for today’s edition of #write28days I am responding to the Valentine’s Day journaling prompts provided by Maria at Krafty Planner. I have been writing to Maria’s monthly prompts for 3 or 4 months now and always find them great food for thought…and for journaling!! And feel sure that they will be a large part of the journaling project I am creating for #the100dayproject.
As I have been sharing for much of this young new year, I want to make 2022 the year I write. With these 2 challenges, I hope to become very consistent in finding time to write. Also plan to set aside the middle of the week for my On Wednesdays We Write series.
Might have calluses on the tips of my fingers from typing and a permanent writer’s cramp but if I get into the habit of writing it will be worth it.
VALENTINE’S DAY JOURNALING PROMPTS
You can find all of Maria’s Valentine’s Day prompts, here. For this post, I decided to select a few of those that spoke to me most to answer.

I feel loved when… I am held. Held by PC, by my daughters and granddaughters.
-
Five ways that I can show love to the people around me are…
- spending time with them
- listening to them
- touching, hugging, holding them
- sharing a special activity with them
- trying to help make their lives better, easier, more enjoyable
-
-
A good Valentine’s tradition is to… give a book to each of my grandchildren
-
It’s important to tell people you love them because… you never know when your last time together might be. I would never want anyone I love to have any doubt about how I felt about them.

Valentine’s Day makes me feel… anxious. There is so much pressure via social media to be gifted a beautiful bouquet, candy, and jewelry, to enjoy a romantic date. And yet it is just a silly day. No different than yesterday, 02.13 or tomorrow 02.15. I would rather have flowers for no reason than afterthought flowers because it is the thing to do says social media. Says Hallmark.
-
Five ways I can love myself more are… take good care of my body, try harder to flow, give myself grace on hard days, pursue things I enjoy doing, find opportunities to grow spiritually and intellectually.
-
Three compliments I’m going to give my Prince Charming this week are… how very happy he makes me, how much I appreciate his patience with me and that he is my number one person.
-
I can bring more love into my relationships by… listening better, not interrupting, not trying to fix things, or second guess what others are trying to say; to just be there for those I love. To show up and be there and stay there for them.
Valentine’s Date a Day Late
This weekend was more about giving Lauren and Francisco a break from the kids. Spending time with Lucia and Cami. Watching the Super Bowl. And trying to get back to feeling better. PC is still having a sore throat, cough and congestion. I’ve had a stomach bug – or maybe ate too much popcorn at the movies on Friday night?? Whatever the case, we haven’t been 110%.
So, tomorrow night, we are going on our Valentine’s date. Maybe that’s a Valentine tradition we need to implement. Celebrating Valentine’s Day on the 15th!!
Your Turn
I have made my wellness journey goals and through them I hope to love myself and care for myself better. What are some of the ways you hope to love yourself better? Hope you will share in a comment below, then maybe run by to check out the Krafty Planner’s monthly journaling prompts and other Valentine’s Day questions, here. If you are hoping to write more this year, like I am, these prompts are a great way to do so.
Anyone else watching “The Bachelor” this season? I had pretty much sworn off the whole Bachelor/Bachelorette series when they parted ways with Chris Harrison. But I watching it again. So tonight, I am celebrating Valentine’s with Clayton and his bachelorettes.
Hugs and kisses,
Marsha Banks
We had a very laid back Valentine’s Day. Nigel has three doctor appointments this week. Let’s just say I will be tired! I love all of your answers to these questions, Leslie. You have a very loving spirit!

Have fun tonight! We don’t do Valentines, it’s not a big deal over here either.

Sorry to hear you’ve both been feeling under the weather. We rarely celebrate Valentine’s Day on the actual day but pick something to do near the 14th and call it our Valentine’s day. I tend to buy my own candy and flowers while I’m picking up small boxes for the boys and something a bit larger for my husband.

A valentines tradition for me is to hold my group Bunco at my house in V’day week. Usually it is me planning dinner and dessert for 12 friends. This year’s bunco is truly a display of love. Roby has loved to cook, and he has developed into quite the chef since retirement. He has been working for weeks on perfecting a beef stew recipe, pie crust and blueberry pie filling. (Thank you @Natashaskitchen). He was in the kitchen all day yesterday and even sharpened all the knives in preparation (ask his right ring finger how sharp they are). We have three crock pots of beef stew and today he will fill the twelve 6 “ pie pans with the butter crusts he made yesterday and the blueberry goodness he will “throw” together from the 6 boxes of blueberries in the refrigerator. How could a box of candy ir a dozen roses make me feel more loved? Just in case, he bought me the cutest tea cup arrangement of 3 roses!! Feeling truly loved. Guess what I gave him…… a new enamel cast iron casserole pan.

I hope you feel better soon. I think celebrating the day after is smart!

Very interesting post! It’s really got me thinking. Thank you!

We don’t make a big fuss of Feb 14th. We do exchange cards and then we’ll cook a nice dinner in the evening to have with a bottle of wine.
Sorry to hear you still aren’t back to feeling completely well – rest and take care of yourself whenever you have some free time x

So funny that you said Valentine’s Day makes you feel anxious. Me too!??! What’s up with that? It is a fun (silly) day for kiddos! And then I feel out of sorts if it doesn’t measure up to some self-imposed standard I create for myself. I yi yi. Who can understand my brain? LOL I do hope you have a lovely date with your number one person this evening!! You are makin’ it happen with the consistent posting this month!!:)
